  1. I like our chances also. Carter is a key recruit. We need him on offense and returning punts. His dad knows what he is talking about.
  2. From Husker Journal: DECEMBER 4 2009. MESSAGE BOARDS CORY COOPER, SAF, 6-2, 205, 4.5, MAYWOOD (PROVISO EAST), ILLINOIS “I’m still committed to Illinois but I’m looking around, I opened up my recruitment. Nebraska contacted me when they found out I was going to take other visits.” Cooper said Cooper Takes In NU And OU Game “The Nebraska visit went great, the fans, the coaching staff I got along with. I like the area (Lincoln) I felt good with. I like Lincoln it’s not too far away I can fly out of Omaha.” Cooper said “I like the Nebraska fans’ passion for the game that surprised me. The fans knew who I was and made me feel good. P J Smith was my host he was a real cool guy.” Husker Coaches High On Cooper “Nebraska (coaches) said I’m on top the board they like everything about me, I can come in and play as a freshman if I do what I do. Nebraska coaches said they like my abilities, I’m fast and my ball skills.” Cooper said “I met Tom Osborne when I was there it was an honor to meet him. I like Bo (Pelini) he’s a good coach and I’m definitely considering Nebraska because Bo is a defensive coach.” “I’ve been to Arizona,” Cooper said, “It was cool I liked the weather. I saw Arizona play Oregon it was a fun time. Arizona coaches said the same thing I have an opportunity to play my freshman year.” Decision Near “I’ve been to Illinois (Champaign) many of times. It’s a home school, close to home and they have good academics and I know some players that are there now.” Cooper said “I’m going to visit Illinois December 12 then I will make a decision after that where I’m going.” Cooper said Cooper said he was considering Notre Dame but after the firing of Weis they are no longer in the running. Cooper said he liked Notre Dame’s academics, tradition and it was close to home.
  3. Would love to see Suh with the Heisman...that would make the bitter taste of last night's game somewhat sweeter as everyone knows he was the best player out there last night. Those who were voting McCoy should just send their votes Suh's way!
  4. No way McCoy gets the Heisman...that is one thing we can say we put a stop to last night. We made him look pedestrian and ordinary on the big stage.
  5. OK...gotta post on something else other than the Big 12 Champ game. I know this will NEVER happen but I think it would definitely give the Big 10 a huge lift (as we all know they have been suffering for several years). Here goes: 1. Expand to 12 teams. 2. Kick Northwestern out (never won jack from what I know and I am guessing bring one of the smaller fan bases to the table). 3. Add Nebraska and Notre Dame. 4. Here's how it shakes out: West: Illinois Iowa Minnesota Nebraska Notre Dame Wisconsin East: Indiana Michigan Michigan State Ohio State Penn State Purdue 5. You have a championship game between West and East. That could be pretty bad ass. Just sayin'.
  6. Yes, I am really proud of our defense. I am in So. CA and people are coming up to me wanting to talk about Suh. Think of the job the Pelini Bros. did with him. Under the old regime he was good but it was like they thought he had maxed his potential...dude has been coached up to be ALL WORLD! Dillard is like a new player under the Pelini's! And how about a guy like O'Hanlon and how the coaching has benefited him...he has improved so much. Guys like Crick, Prince, Dennard, and Gomes...no way are they playing like this without our defensive staff. I am really excited for some of the young guys coming up...we have seen some playing time from Compton, Meredith, Steinkuhler, etc. I am excited to see Ankrah and what he can do. And P.J. Smith can be a good one too. I love Eric Martin...just get him on the field. And I hope a guy like Blue (who was fairly solid prior to injury) can re-emerge in the mix. Defensive recruits gotta come here if you want to be part of the best defense in the country...Blackshirts R Back!!!
  7. Not sure if this has been posted yet. Article from Fox Sports is below. Lots of people coming up to me because they know I am a Husker fan in So. CA asking for my reaction to the game. I would say about 80% of the people I talk to think we won and got jobbed. Yes, people want to talk about our horrible plays kicking the ball out of bounds and the horse collar (yes, I agree those were horrible plays and I was screaming when we did them). At that time I thought we were giving the game away. But then you know what? Texas gave the game back by horrible clock management and lost the game...it was over...clock at 0:00. Everyone expected Texas to win because they were within FG...but you know what they are human and made a bad play just like we had done earlier in the drive. No one wants to talk about that now...it was the biggest meltdown in clock management I have ever seen! But we all know what happened...refs bailed them out. I really have never had anything against Texas (honestly) and have never much liked Alabama...but if Alabama and Texas goes down, I hope Alabama completely destroys them. Amen to this article. Link: The voters should do what the Big 12 game officials didn't have the guts to do. That is, put Texas Christian (or Cincinnati, for that matter) into the BCS national championship game. It's too bad it won't happen. The referees have an excuse: They work for the Big 12 Conference, which desperately needed Texas to avoid an upset by Nebraska. The voters have no excuse. They still get to choose among undefeated teams to put in the national championship game against Alabama. But chances are, they will choose Texas. Four times over the years, the Big 12 has screwed itself out of the national title game with a huge upset in the conference championship game. They weren't going to allow that to happen again, no matter how dominant Ndamukong Suh was for Nebraska. Look, I don't hate the Longhorns. And I don't root for TCU, or Cincinnati ... or Nebraska. I don't hate the BCS, and I don't necessarily even crave a playoff tournament. But that ending of the Big 12 championship game was just wrong. Here's exactly what happened: There were 24 incomplete passes in the Texas-Nebraska game. On every one of them — every single one (I know, I went back and checked in slow motion) — the game clock ticked off that second, and sometimes another. That's how it always works in this and every other game: There's a bit of a human element (the eye sending the message to the brain, the brain relaying it to the finger on the clock button, the electronic impulses prompting the clock to stop). And so, when Colt McCoy inexplicably decided to run a play with six seconds remaining instead of calling timeout or, well, showing any sense of urgency, he rolled out and threw the ball away, way out of bounds, as the clock ticked down to 0:00. Nebraska rushed the field, Bo Pellini's team seemingly in possession of a sensational 12-10 triumph. But since Texas coach Mack Brown wanted a second placed back on the clock, and because the Big 12 wanted to have a second placed back on the clock, and because all of the six major BCS conferences HAD TO HAVE a second placed back on the clock, and because the referees figured they might never have a chance to work for the league ever again if they do this wrong ... that's how it went. So, unlike every other similar play in the game, the officials overruled the clock and put 0:01 back up on the scoreboard, and Texas ran the field goal team out there and Hunter Lawrence kicked it through. So, since the refs felt the need to overrule the clock, the voters can always overrule the game officials. It ain't right: Texas has no business being in the title game.
  8. Just posted this in another thread: There is so much stuff going around I don't know what to believe but this is the Big 12 Championship...an explanation is clearly due. I am sure there must be reporters digging through archives right now...surely there must be another college football game in history where the clock was out and time was put back on and gave a team another play? If so, I'd really like to see how the circumstances stack up against what happened tonight. Look if this has precedence in past and rule can be explained to Bo and TO then so be it. But, if not then this is serious crap and NU should be Big 12 Champ.

  10. Did the Big 12 / head official / someone who has some clout / etc. officially comment? Rumors are Bo and maybe even TO have asked for official explanation...if they can't get one, then what the hell happens? The winner is literally determined by the outcome of that call. Has there ever been something like this?
  11. OK...there has never been a comment on Huskerboard that I felt I had to respond to more than that one...so... and and and and and and and and and
  12. Would love to see this. Anywhere online? Youtube or Fox Sports link?
  13. It was too bad Cody only had that one series where he had to start pinned up inside the one or wherever it was (no pressure there!). I was hoping he could get another series because I do think he could have picked up some yards with his legs and given the TX defense something to at least think about. Looking back if we were just going to hand off to Rex and Roy and neither QB was going to get many throws, the yes Cody should have gotten more opportunity.
  14. What a crazy game and night. Great effort and no one gave us a chance. Let's get a bowl victory wherever we go. So proud of the way our defensive unit dismantled the Horns. BLACKSHIRTS R BACK!!!
  15. The PI call in the 3rd qtr was a bad call and gave TX 3 points. The no holding calls against our D-Line the entire game were brutal. I don't like Hagg playing his style where he doesn't look for the ball...that has been killing us as he is getting burned or getting penalties. The horse collar is correct call until they change it because what is the defender to do? But, the absolute worst call I have seen in many, many years was giving TX the game by adding time back to the clock. I think that was the biggest bonehead call I have ever seen where so much was on the line...it literally took the victory from us and allowed TX to win. HORRIBLE!!!!
  16. That was a bush league job at the end. Game clock was out and NU had won. I have no idea how it all works but it would be awesome to see TX pushed down in the polls so they don't get BCS championship game after that. Let them play in another bowl.
  17. Great article. I really like Rex and Roy both. Both are determined runners and good backs in their own ways. I hope both are ready to carry it on Saturday often...give 'em hell boys!
  18. That was crazy...definitely future blackshirt. Those poor ball carriers got absolutely destroyed. First kid gets blindsided and poor kid fumbles (watch closely) and other team jumps on it. Second hit is classic...little dude gets measured and flies out of bounds after major hit. I admit, I was laughing big time. "This is the Bulldogs Madness!"
  19. This kid has such potential to be a featured player here I can't imagine him not coming here. It has been a transition year on offense and Carter is the type of player to energize Wats offense. We are putting it together with getting experience at QB. Burkhead is a rising star. We still need key playmakers to catch the ball, play in the slot or wide out. If this kid is as good as we think, he will get a lot of playing time.
  20. I hope we can get OO. Our defensive staff is solid. It looks like Florida DC Charlie Strong may go to Louisville...I can't see Strong at Florida much longer...he has worked his way to get a shot somewhere. Just sayin...likely a change at DC at Florida soon. I gotta believe OO would be a key to defensive schemes Pelini Bros. draw up in the coming years.
  21. If we want USC, this is the year to get them. Barkley is only going to improve. Oregon and Stanford turned out to be pretty good this year. They mis-stepped vs. Washington but was sort of weird without Barkley and that the UW staff was old USC and knew how to play them. The one thing I would be very concerned with USC is that they do get up for big games and have proven they can beat you if time to prepare. I don't think our offense would perform that well as their defense (despite bad games this year) is still very stout. If we get Holiday Bowl, I'd like to see us vs. Stanford...Suh vs. Gerhart. I don't think Stanford's defense can gameplan and put it all together like a USC can. I really don't think USC would have trouble with our offense. We'd need to win a defensive game vs. USC. Ohio State couldn't do it at their place earlier this year.
  22. From Husker Journal: NOVEMBER 29 2009. MESSAGE BOARDS JAY GUY, DL, 6-1, 300, 5, ALDINE (EISENHOWER), TEXAS “I liked everything, fans, coaches, atmosphere great program. Everything about it was great. I’m really excited about Nebraska I’m going up their midterm.” Guy said about his college choice to Nebraska “I went to the Oklahoma game it was a good game. It was crazy 86,000 fans. Everybody was into it, fans knew who all the recruits that were there” Fans Knew Welcomed Guy “Many of the people in the crowd knew my name, knew who I was and wanted me to go there (Nebraska). Fans came up and talked to me and even wanted photo’s” Guy said Husker Nation Support “The facilities were some of the best in the country, all the donations, all the alumni. Nebraska really gives back, there you go.” Guy said “Nebraska offered me in March that’s when I met Coach Mike Ekeler came by my school and spoke to me and all that. They (Nebraska) just stayed with me. Coach J P (Papuchis) was my recruiter. He’s a pretty cool guy, laid back down to earth.” Guy said Pelini Brothers “Oh yes, of course it did, it was a big influence. Both (Carl and Bo) Pelini were down to earth and straight forward.” Guy said about the Pelini brother’s defensive background “Nebraska coaches say I’m quick off the ball for my size. They (Nebraska) look for play makers not just height and size. Just make plays.” Guy said Met Tom Osborne “I met Tom Osborne he and my family sat down and spoke to him. He’s a real good guy, real calm and laid back. That’s true what I can say about everybody down there.” Guy said
