  1. To be fair, we probably wouldn't have known if he did back then. How about me personally witnessing him driving up to the East Campus union about 1:00pm on a Tuesday, parking (yes, driving) getting out of the car and smelling like a brewery? Not particularly relevant unless you saw him cause an accident. Did you see him cause an accident? Also not so relevant based on 50 years of changes in culture. so drinking and driving isnt the issue, causing an accident is? i am absolutely dumbfounded at how you attempt to sidestep the fact he witnessed devaney driving drunk.
  2. if i had a nickle for every time this thought crossed my mind reading a cm husker post, i wouldnt need powerball to be a millionaire.
  3. If you read only that SI hit piece, you'll come away with a wrong (let alone incomplete) view of what happened. um, i was referring to the fact it also included several more incidents that occurred in the early to mid 90's that have basically been ignored in this discussion. And I'm referring to the fact that of the four players charged those years, only two were found guilty. Why should TO have kicked Benning and Muhammad out of the program for crimes they weren't guilty of? Yet, SI tries to draw those incidents into the article in an effort to paint a narrative that simply isn't accurate. Benning finished school and has become a valued member of the local media. HEre's what Muhammed appears to be doing: http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/football/former-husker-muhammad-finds-his-reward-helping-youth/article_7d4e1af6-1420-5d97-871b-a59a39cfc753.html Even C. Peter has turned things around. do you even realize that i am merely pointing out that of the many incidents that occurred during osborne's time as head coach the only one being talked about is the LP incident? well it was when i posted what you first quoted.
  4. Different scenarios because the offense occurred later. And not relevant. We already talked about TO. You have your facts wrong. It's a bad idea going with a version of events based on a single prosecutor's press release. Tom hid a gun in his desk for Abdul Muhammad, he wrote about it in his book. My facts are facts. You just deny and put your opinion out as fact. I think you missed what CM said - he only speaks FACTS There's an irony in you calling me out while we are still waiting for a link to the "fact" that TO hid a gun for Muhammad. the si hit piece has a quote from osborne about the incident. and it was tyrone wiliams gun that steele and osborne hid.

  6. judging by all the LP talk, methinks the vast majority didnt read the link.
  7. While I generally feel people fly too far off the handle about DUI, if the information about # of offenses and amount of BAC on this offense are true, then I don't see why the university would take on the potential liability. If it's because of his value as a coach, I have to question (a) whether he can be effective as a leader of players if he shows such poor judgment, (b) has any credibility on the recruiting trail, especially in the face of negative recruiting, and © whether being a full time coach in the pressure cooker that is Nebraska football is the most conducive situation for recovery and bad behavior avoidance. If the info is accurate, I don't see how he can be kept on, for his good or the good of the program. I wonder how many university professors have DUI's and fly under the radar because they aren't a football coach. No idea. Probably some. Wonder how many of them make almost half a million in salary a year. So, I fail to see the relevance. I fail to see the relevance in the amount of money they make being the reason one can remain hired and one can't. Ok, that was just one example of a distinction. What we ask of our coaches (and pay to them in exchange) is much more than we ask of professors. I think every rational person here recognizes that. That said, if a professor was found guilty of a third DUI, I'd have to think that university would consider moving him/her on, even though the professor has much less responsibility for recruiting and developing students athletes than the highly paid football coach. one of the big arguments for firing a previous coach was that he appeared to embarrass the University. Here, a coach actually has (at least as that's perceived by most - I personally don't find it embarrassing). I'm sure if there were a professor of sufficient stature that anyone cared whether he/she got a DUI, the university would evaluate them in a similar manner because of the reputational impact. Simple reality is that there isn't. the university doesnt ask the professors to mold their students to be the best students they can be and be ambassadors putting the university in the best possible light they can? ffs, this isnt about bo or his former staff. stop trying to turn it into being about him. their dismissals may be similar but since we dont know everything that went into the decision to part ways with them, their situations are not fully applicable here.
  8. I honestly don't understand this mentality at all. I don't cheer for dirt. I don't cheer for buildings and I don't cheer for jerseys. But, in any event, changing mentalities of fans is good for the long term health of the program. so we should all go back to cheering bo pelini?
  9. Let's wait until Kirby Smart actually does something before labeling him a top notch coach. I agree with that, except that it ignores the fact that he's already done something... he's got the no 4 recruiting class in the country. you could have the no 4 recruiting class if you coached georgia. even with your lack of ability to follow a conversation and going off on random tangents.
  10. erm, Nebraska was an AAU member at the time they joined the B1G.
  11. i think it's more the delivery in the opinion and not the opinion itself.
  12. 1,600 people to show up to do something constructive would have been positive. Grown ass people chasing an imaginary thing on a phone like a dimwitted puppy chasing a laser light is might be the crapfest part. But don't take my word for it, you might want to check your phone and see what it tells you think, do or say. cm is not gonna be happy you just called the players dimwitted puppies.
  13. that seems to be a criticism of the past 2-3 qb's as well.
  14. might not necessarily lose eligibility. should be able to petition the ncaa to play right away.
  15. shouldnt be the same team come september. they do have talent in the minors. have 2 guys playing short who are in the top 100 prospects. one will transition to second and that will most likely become their double play combo for the next 6 years. also have their third baseman of the future in the minors too. cant remember how close he is but should be up in sept as well. smith and enciarte will man two of the OF positions, which two depends on how good of a defensive outfielder smith becomes. then they have stockpiled enough pitching that they should be able to shore up catcher and the third outfield spot. '17 most likely wont be the year but '18 or '19 they should be back up towards the top.
  16. One of the worst calls in the history of college football. Maybe THE worst. I still wonder whether that ref was crooked. I mean, how could he *possibly* make an honest mistake like that? There's just no way. He was right on top of the play with a perfect view. And the other ref should have been able to see the OB catch. Total bullsh#t. The refs literally gift wrapped the game for Joe Paterno. I bought my custom t-shirt in late '80s ...... Beaver field layout. L shaped instead of normal 53x120yds rectangle field !!!!! Worn out years ago (destination: paint rag). Not exactly but similar idea ......... "Karma" was 2012 PSU/NU game. THE LINK The funny thing about that shirt is that it's actually incorrect. Drawing the line that way means the ball carrier would have to travel further to cross the goal line. Wow, can't believe I never noticed that before. We are a dumb fanbase. I believe the point is that the official ruled that it was fumbled into the endzone before crossing the goal-line on review the play stood as called. The PSU contention is that the runner had already broken the plane of the goal line prior to fumbling and therefore PSU should have gotten a TD not an TO. Moving the line further into the endzone is the correct way to draw it, implying that at the moment that the PSU player had the ball across the goal line, the goal line was actually a few inches further south in that place at that moment. I believe there is a quantum physics explanation for this phenomenon, but I don't seem to recall what it is at the moment Well see now here's where my memory is coming back to me. The shirt is correct, because Penn State had the ball. I though Nebraska had the ball. I'm an idiot. You know what'll make me feel better. Giving me all your +1s. Please +1 this idiot (me). you'll have to change your name to It'sNotaFakecmID for that.
  17. Does everyone know that similar doesn't mean exactly the same?
  18. i got through the first 3 words.
  19. even with arizona and arizona st, i wouldnt be surprised to see that the majority of fans root for northern teams. so many snowbirds down there.
  20. thats what they should have done this year instead of just getting rid of them. but that sounded like work and we know the ncaa doesnt want to do that.
  21. OK, MR. SERIOUS GUY! whatevs, that was just for funsies.
  22. From the third or fourth post in this thread, if he decommits mav might add the poll later. He has sound reasoning for not adding the poll.
