  1. OK, MR. SERIOUS GUY! whatevs, that was just for funsies.
  2. From the third or fourth post in this thread, if he decommits mav might add the poll later. He has sound reasoning for not adding the poll.
  3. That's probably because they don't. I recommend taking a gander at the actual data before drawing conclusions, if any. The samples are too small to conclude anything significant. there are 4 types of fans in kansas; wichita state fans, ku fans, k-state fans and state of kansas fans. the last one, they just follow whichever school is good at the sport being played.
  4. I don't get the thinking of this logic. It's not meant to be offensive to you. But I just don't understand it.Man, if I'm leaning towards a school and I play the non-sexy FB position.... Then that school I'm leaning towards goes and gets their FB drafted? Man, I'd be jacked.Remember when Suh being a Heisman finalist and the #2 pick in the draft was supposed to open the flood gates for DT's to commit here?Or Lavonte David with LB's? I just don't think it has the weight people think it does. But I hope you are right. That was also under you know who. I think this staff will take advantage of an opportunity like having a FB drafted. They should take advantage of it. Milk it for all they can. I just don't buy that it makes THAT much difference to the player being recruited. Especially at a position like FB. You nailed it! Just used the wrong word. Everything you are right about except for when you wrote "ESPECIALLY." Your last sentence should be EXCEPT at a position like FB. I like my post just the way it was written. And again, I hope he commits here. I just don't think a player getting drafted in the 6th round because of his special teams resume pulls the weight people think it does. And that's not intended to be a knock on Andy. It's pretty amazing what he did in one year. I think the point was that perhaps at the FB position, it would be even more of a positive factor in making a college choice having had several players taken in the draft (something that rarely happens perio). When so many schools no longer even have the position, being one of if not the very best place for FBs is an attractive advantage. Also, I would say Andy did what he did over more than one year, just got to show it off for us fans last year. His great atheticism is what got him drafted, not just a handful of runs. Andy Janovich would not have sniffed the combine had it not been for last season. That is the plain and simple truth. And before we talk about "the best place" for FB's to play, just know that LSU has had 2 drafted in recent years as well. Yeah, I've changed my stance now that husker84law semi agreed with my previous one. Now you're recruiting for LSU? LOL You people got real issues. Just can't be reasonable on anything? Tropic Thunder memes always get a +1 so do cmhusker posts.
  5. I'd say it is kind of sad how some disrespect Osborne's input and wisdom and justify a career .500 guy. wtf are you talking about?
  6. most juco recruits are in jucos because of grade issues and have to complete their 2 years (i think they have to get their associates degree) before becoming eligible. there are some that are there to get a better offer sheet that are eligible after one year, and they dont have to sit a year.
  7. I'm not sure how they determine this list. Bray is 31, though, so not far behind. it looks like it takes the players' rating into account. didnt see how many recruits bray was credited with but both williams and langs had 2.
  8. Not surprising. His committing this month. He is and going to the PSU spring game over ours. Add those up and you get a PSU commit IMO. Welp. I was wrong. And damn happy about it! you still have time to change your pick.
  9. you forgot the most important position, long snapper.
  10. On 3rd and 7 Tommy has a wide open Ozigbo and he can't deliver the pass in front of his receiver. If he does that, its 1st down Nebraska and game over for Illinois. If Tommy does his job on 3rd and 7 none of the rest of this matters. I don't expect Tommy to be perfect but if we're going to dissect the coaching performance then there is nothing wrong with dissecting the players performance either. that is scapegoating in cm's eyes.
  11. Are they going to the spring game? Still no confirmation, but they are tweeting about #5days. Which one may imply infer is the Nebraska spring game. yeah, i went there.
  12. you're right he was only using 85 when the 105 scholarship limit was introduced in 1972 then reduced to 95 in 1978 and finally to 85 in 1992.
  13. You're absolutely right in your first sentence. No players are infallible. Not even Tommie Frazier. That's why it's a coach's job to minimize the risk/exposure presented by a player's weaknesses. It's probably a coach's most important job on a tactical level. Last year, I think the staff did a horrendous job in that department, and not just with Tommy. Purdue is a prime example of that failing. NU had the talent last year to win 10+ games against that schedule and their failure to do so was mostly on the coaches, not Tommy Armstrong. They look to have at least as good of a chance to win 10 this year, and a failure to do so would be mainly on the coaches. Because you have to manufacture wins sometimes. And I haven't seen much evidence that this staff can check its offensive play calling ego at the door and do that. As to the rest, I'm sure your and others' message board "constructive" criticism is super helpful to these players. and even when conceding the players share part of the blame you lay everything at the feet of the coaches. and if the players are reading message boards to improve, their coaches have been failing them for years.
  14. god am i sick and tired of this incessant bullcrap of yours. the players aren't infallible nor are they above criticism. the game is played by young men who if they can't accept the criticism then they probably shouldn't be playing. they don't need to be coddled by someone on a message board they most likely don't read. when they screw up it is on them and there is nothing wrong with pointing that out, especially when praise is heaped on to the player at the same time. learn the difference between constructive criticism and just blaming someone.
  15. it was originally posted in the football forum dedicated to nebraska football. as for the b1g section, afaik it is for everything b1g related.
  16. if people in nebraska would learn to drive there would be far less road rage, especially from me.
  17. I agree with this. As for TA being under center, we'll find out. The recruits certainly won't impact the offense under him this season. However, the extent to which Nebraska has reliable RB talent remains to be seen. Will Ozigbo build upon UCLA? How do we replace Jano? Will Newby assert himself as more, will Wilbon or Trey Bryant make a charge, etc. Tommy's mistake prone, and that has to get fixed, but he can also only run the ball himself so much in a game. And he's in an offense with some of the more dangerous and established receivers in the B1G now. I'm tired of people blaming Tommy for being mistake prone. Among Riley's first year starters, TA has one of the best td to int and int per attempt ratios. Did he make mistakes last year? Yes. Were they the same mistakes at the same or a lower frequency that most of Riley's QBs have made them? Yes. So maybe it's not just a "we need someone less mistake prone" issue. TA made the same mistakes under the last staff also. At a much declining rate as he matured as a player. Maybe an easier way to say this is that: all first year starters under Riley have been "mistake proned." Is that because of an inherent flaw in those players (as has been claimed about TA) or because maybe, just maybe, the system or the way it's be taught is causing every single first year player to struggle mightily? For all his mistakes, TA still put together one of the most productive 1st year starter performances of any QB that's played for Riley. What conclusions should we draw from that? none. because all the variables aren't listed. try this one, how many of riley's qb's in their first year of his system had two years starting experience at a bcs/power 5 school? armstrong has been mistake prone in the past but he has also been brilliant. now it is up the the coaching staff to work around his strengths in the system and armstrong to play to the strengths of the system.
  18. Yup, they sure were for the longest time. sadly, after firing stephenson they have turned into a horrid baseball team. pitching sucks even though they still have kemnitz, and i dont think they could hit water if they fell out of a boat.
  19. so he wants kids to come to KSU but not go to a school that isnt ranked in football or academics?
  20. That is dirty. Absolutely awful. Most teams do this nowadays. We're no different. Don't need your unintelligent, uninformed opinion in here. You're going to have to explain how Nebraska having 17 seniors and being projected to take up to 23 recruits is any different. All teams have walk-ons they can take scholarships from year-to-year, all teams have transfers, most big name schools have Juniors who declare early. Now that the B1G lets you oversign by 3, it's going to happen a lot more. I find it hilarious that when Michigan or a team in the SEC does it, it's because it's "dirty" or something. When Nebraska does it, we're the good guys who just naturally have kids transfer. I agree, but please do not use the SEC as they over recruit by double digits. He doesn't want your facts, and it's not worth arguing with him. Don't worry about what he's saying. They do the exact same thing. They have transfers and walk-ons to manage scholarships. The primary difference is that teams like Alabama and LSU also send numerous underclassmen every year to the NFL, something we don't have to worry about. Thus, they can take even more recruits per class than we can. If Nebraska had an exodus of 5 underclassmen, we'd be able to take 25 or more this year. But Nebraska typically only sends a Junior to the NFL every few seasons, so our recruiting numbers aren't as high as big programs from the SEC. But beyond that, continue to believe that we're the good guys and the other teams that always recruit better than us are the bad guys. Damn them and their rule breaking! Who cares if they send 5 or 6 underclassmen to the NFL, they're clearly cheating!! GAH! If you want facts, here are facts. 16 seniors leaving. NO ONE IS LEAVING TO THE NFL DRAFT. They have four underclassman who were thought might declare early. All of them announced they will be staying. Michigan is still on plenty of top players, and many analysts think they could have 4-5 high profile players pick them either on NSD or in the next 3 weeks. That would put them at 27-28 commitments. 27-28 commitments, with 16 spots. Either the lowest rated of those 27-28 will be asked to move on two weeks from signing day, or there will be players asked to leave the team. I don't care what you say, Michigan's "status quo" is not losing over 10% (11/85) every year in transfers. That's not normal, and you arguing it is is asinine. Hey, facts. But, like I said, not going to argue with you. Congrats, you won the internet message board argument. Let's celebrate. I used the SEC as an example to explain the valid point SouthLincoln Husker made regarding the SEC, which doesn't apply to Michigan. The B1G allows you to over-sign by 3, throw in transfers (you remember how Johnny Staton did after we told him he was no longer on the football team, but would honor the scholarship?) and it's conceivable that you can get to the mid 20s, or higher, once you factor in any non-contributing underclassmen you can take off scholarship who have already graduated, just like Nebraska does, plus injured players who can no longer play. I'd wager they have a few recruits who will enroll early, which allows you to have fun with numbers (legally) in order to abide by B1G and NCAA scholarship rules. Give it up if you really think Michigan is behaving any differently than we are. Nebraska has room for 17, we're going to take 23 or possibly more. There isn't a difference. wasnt he just left off the 105 man roster at the beginning of fall camp?
  21. Here we go again. Just like under Bo. It's everyone but the coaches' fault (AD, fans, big bad media). I guess being a successful coach these days comes down to having the luck to be surrounded by a good fan base. Otherwise all your schemes, teaching ability, recruiting savvy, etc. are for naught. i didnt absolve the coaching staff of blame. but think about it for a minute, how do you expect a recruit to seriously look at a school that just hired a coach and 5 games into a transitional season fans are calling for them to be fired? just that uncertainty can make anyone skeptical.
