  1. I too vote for Zack Lee. The QB is the most critical position on the field a weak QB can make if tough on everyone (even hard on a Defense if the QB can't lead the offense to points, time of possession or field position.) Of course at the end of day it is still a team sport.
  2. I agree with much of what has been said here but as a fan I am willing to wait a bit to get news ..... of course if I wanted to wait forever I would not be a member of the best Husker Board around. I think that for a coach medical issues are extra sensitive. We have be become hyper-critical in today's world when it comes to medical issues and I think that adds an extra degree of edge to the early unapproved reporting of an injury. We have all had to stand at the line 10 feet away from the pharmacy so we dont accidently find out what kind of drugs Old Man Earl is taking for his blood pressure. At work when I hear an employee out sick I feel like it is a brazen act of insensitivity to ask how they are doing.
  3. I'm with NO, I live here in Oregon and this guy was a mess who was given many chances but he never changed. I wonder why the Washington TE was released (I'm sure a thread exists on this but I've been busy and just logged in).
  4. The poll seems like it is too strongly tied to last year and making sure some of the annual over achievers get some pre-season respect. OU out of the top 20 also seems like a bit a stretch.
  5. So at what point do we get to proclaim the speculation a dead? I'd like to call it now but I'm paranoid so if T-Mart is at practice Monday I think this is over. Perhaps I'm being Mr. Obvious with this statement.
  6. Flying to Denver in few moments, I work for a company that does work for the organization that Pierre's Mom works for. I mean I will be an insider and every thing I post will be taken as gospel ....... Guess I'm getting a bit carried away.
  7. I feel the pain, I am down in Salem Oregon looking to come up to the game. From a thread on this topic a couple months ago many folks(Ok it was probably only a coupule) indicated that as the day appoached tickets will start to show up for the game. For me the game is close enough that I am going to just wait and see, possible drive up the night before and look for tickets. If I can't get them I will find a place to watch the game. My husker budget gets spent each year meeting with family in Minneapolis to drive to lincoln so I need to keep this cheap. That's my 2 cents worth.
  8. I figure the defense will hold their own this year, so who do we need on offense ...... I'm going with Mr. Tommie Frazier simply because he was a winner, #2 would be turner gill he was a great dual threat as I recall he could throw very well, he may actually fit better with the other players we have today. And at #3 Eric Crouch. I'm focused in on QB because that is the position that makes me nervous and any of the three mentioned had nothing to prove going into the senior year. If I had to move from the QB I'd go to Dave Remington as the center, what coach would not love this guy, a center who was so quick off the snap he would get called off sides.
  9. I voted ........ Nebraska was too good all the way around. I still recall the game and it was not even a question at the time or now what team was more dominate.
  10. Post 15: You gotta love uncle Ricco pondering the transportation problem .... but hey if coach had put him in they would have made state.
  11. Love the "stache" it's a bit village people but hey I'm not going to say anything.
  12. Quit talking about Clownahan Very good I try to put that in the past but it is tough
  13. The Gabberts went to a team that they think will get them to the NFL, winning football games comes second. Perhaps Missouri is good NFL prep because losing in the regular season is OK in the NFL because you may still get a chance in the play offs if you win win just over half the games. I will give Missouri some respect because it is a lot of work to win in a divison with Nebraska and they have managed a Tie and a Win in recent years.
  14. Perhaps get some Texas bobble head dolls and put display the helment on them ........

    QB

I'm here in Oregon and Masoli is a joke.......I agree that no serious team would even give him a second thought. He is nothing but trouble and he is a walking example of "past behavior is the best predictor or future results", to think this guy can be reformed you'd have to be, well you'd have to be the Oregon coaching staff. He was given many chances to be a success but he can't seem to control him self.
  16. At the end of the day I think that the positive outlook it based on 1)The defense will still be great give or take a small step back and 2) The offense has to be better, this is Nebraska and although we are not the going to be the next Florida we have to be better. Overall the improvment on offense will overshadow any step back on defense. I don't mean to say the offense will be incredible but I trust the D to stay strong. What makes everything tough is that all the other teams will also change ........ I think that Oklahoma will have a better season and Texas is due for a slight step back. I hope that all this means that we get to beat Oklahoma and Texas this year.
  17. I second the Outliers book .... good book and interesting insight on atheletics although that is not the main point of the book.
  18. Yes they did. It is a really interesting thing to wrap your head around, but check out the book "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell. It is an eye-opening analysis of what makes someone successful or gifted - and it is not so clear or obvious as you would think. In short, in our culture we like to think that being really good at something means that we have a natural talent or hard work or some long-winded lifted-up-by-my-own-bootstraps story, but in the overwhelming majority of the extremely successful people, natural talent and hard work have far less to do with their success than less obvious but extremely important aspects and opportunities of their life.
  19. Also of note is that we continue to support the team when times are tough, I love the fact that the sell out streak continued in the recent difficult years. Unlike many fans we don't vanish into the shadows when team can't meet our high expectations. I do miss the traffic jams on the way down to Manhattan to see K-state play Nebraska in the 80’s. Now I'm in Oregon and plan to be part of the Husker Invasion in Seattle.
  20. My link Yes it is grades.
  21. I don't know so I'm asking. In the PAC 10 will Texas need split revenue? I don't know what the PAC 10 rules are today.
  22. I grew up in Lincoln, spent 10 years in Minneapolis now I work in Salem Oregon and my wife is a Oregon State. I tend to think the Pac 10 is over rated, and adding the Texas crew will be great but over all the conference today will not be stronger the new Big 10. The Oregon schools seem like they are ok but they can’t sustain strong program. Living places certainly does not make one a football expert but in my opinion the Pac 10 just doesn't have the depth. Also it is my opinion that football is pretty much an after thought in most of the PAC Ten the fans area. Compared to Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn State, Ohio, and Michigan and now Nebraska the Big 10 (or whatever) will be a much more exciting place to play football. I realize we are not rating fan enthusiasm but I had to comment.
