  1. so far, he has done a masterful job in helping bring this big 10 offer to fruition. this move will obviously provide great benefits to the university, well beyond the athletic side of things. well done harvey!
  2. i find it unbelievable that this guy is so butt-hurt now that nebraska is leaving considering they went right along with texas in making the big 12 a south-centric conference. his comment "We worked really hard (with Nebraska) to try and make this work," a subdued Castiglione said, according to the Tulsa World. "But it apparently wasn't enough." is completely laughable.
  3. Clemson would raise the academic acumen of that league immensely. Agreed. But more than anything, I just don't wanna be left behind... This is what i was thinking as well. Wouldn't it be something if all of this talk of Nebraska to the Big 10 was a ruse, so that Texas would freak and want to join the Big 10 so they would not be left out. The Big 10 says yes to Texas and then no to Nebraska. Probably not likely, but if true it would be quite shrewd on the part of the Big 10.
  4. i guess this is the way it has always been all along, but the following article posted at huskermax seems to indicate that everything hinges on notre dame. if they decide to drop their independent status and go to the big 10+1, then NU and MU won't get offers and everything stays the same. it would seem to me that conference expansion (SEC, Pac-10, etc) is inevitable and notre dame would be crazy not to get in on the ground floor and the be able to dictate, somewhat, the terms of their inclusion. if they wait, it would seem they would have very little power. they have smart people running their school so ican't believe they will pass this time. we will see. it reads as if they are on the clock, as well. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/08/sports/ncaafootball/08colleges.html
  5. also, "as God as my witness, i thought turkeys could fly"
  6. As a kid it taught me that some peoples reactions times actually improve when drunk. How many shows would do that today? was that the one where both dr. johnny fever and venus fly trap were drinking or just johnny fever. i seem to recall the venus fly trap character getting smashed (quite amusingly).
  7. i know it has been posted somewhere before, but there is no way that the rest of the pac-10 will allow a small, conservative baptist university from texas to join their ranks.
  8. just went to the huskermax site and there is some text detailing some of the legal wrangling going on with who owns the rights to huskerpedia.
  9. wow! i know this is a very old man thing to say, but the fact that someone (e.g. the person that found this link) either knew about this link or merely searched for it and easily found it on the internet still amazes me.
  10. 2-0. nice job USA, although i was impressed with the swiss goaltender.
  11. like those jerseys, as well. was that curt gowdy announcing? sounded like him.
  12. Voted! huskers leading with 27% of the vote.
  13. tough to compare players from different eras. i'm sure with the more advanced weight training techniques, nutrition, and emphasis on size glover would have bulked up to around 275 lbs (he played at 235 lbs in the early 70's). if you can get a copy of the '71 oklahoma game, his play will remind you of suh's in the big 12 championship game.
  14. all of those salaries are pretty good scratch for a couple of guys living in lincoln, nebraska. i'm sure watson looks at this like a slap (not undeservedly) and am sure he will begin to look for another position. i was also surprised that cotton received such a substantial raise. i was figuring (and secretly hoping) he would have gotten the shaft. his direct reports under achieved in 2003 as well as these last two years, IMO.
  15. does Lee's Chicken still exist? they created one of the most amatuerish commercials, ever. in keeping with the theme of this thread, i was two years older and played high school football with joel wilks (starting guard on the '94 national championship team).
  16. this one might be good. however, i ordered a DVD of the game that did not have bremser's call or the live broadcast from chris schenkel and bud wilkinson. instead, the play by play was dubbed over by, i think, joe patrick? anyway, it was absolutely atrocious. the video of the entrie game was there, but the dubbed over play by play didn't even keep up with the action. i mean come on, it's not like he was doing it live. he was actually in a studio watching the game with the ability to go back and change the voice over if he got it wrong. constantly giving the wrong down and distance, yardline of where the ball was, players involved in the action, etc. a really pathetic performance. all i am saying is make sure you are getting what you want when you order some of these classic husker games.
  17. pretty good picture, but can't say i care for her choice of ear rings. i guess they do, somewhat, go with that serpentine broach she is wearing on her dress. i do; however, appreciate the cleavage. well done!
  18. i agreed with your comment regarding davison's voice. he needs to work with a speech coach or something. while i didn't really like fiala, i don't see how going with davision exclusively is a step up.
  19. Not bad.. about where we figured we'd finish... although i think we should be ahead of GT and BYU, we did have 4 losses... top 15 team to end the year, things are on the way up. they certainly are!
  20. to represent the old guys on this board i'll throw out Big Bob Brown, Wayne Meylan, and Larry Kramer. great players from devaney's great teams of the early and mid 60's.
  21. i agree, i don't see our defense losing to them, but unfortunately our offense has something to "say" about it as well.
