  1. Nebraska won't have "passed on him AGAIN" because he won't even entertain our offer until the Michigan/LSU situation runs its course...If Carr gets the boot and Miles decides that is his job, Pelini would be the front runner for the LSU job (one in which he would have a great shot of winning a NC in YEAR 1)! I want this search for the AD and new HC to go way under the radar, much like Iowa State handled the hiring of Chizik...
  2. I don't get this. Your saying not to hire a guy whos had success wherever he's been as a d- coordinater (pelini), but to hire another d-coordinator as our HC who Oklahoma fans don't even think is a good coach.(venables) I don't see your point. I'll take pelini over venables any day Pelini is NOT coming back! This guy could take Les Miles job if he chooses to go to Michigan! I like Charlie Strong from Florida, Patterson from TCU or Muschamp from Auburn!
  3. Hate to break it to you folks...BUT USF is a better gig than Nebraska right now! Way more talent, bigger player pool, great weather....and the list goes on and on!!! It's apparent that we need a players coach/motivator, no more NFL types...I would like Muschamp from Auburn, Patterson from TCU or Charlie Strong from Florida (talk about a guy WAY under the radar!!!) If you missed the trend, young, aggressive, D-Coordinators!!! The more I read about Strong, the more I want him....PLUS he has ties to alot of talent in the Sunshine State!!!!
  4. I respect your views, but I disagree with the statement that Callahan is a fine coach. I believe without a doubt that Bob Stoops, Bo Pelini, Urban Meyer, anyone could coach these same players and get different results. WOW, you just named 3 of the top coaches in the country....which we will never have!!!
  5. As much as I hate all the what ifs flying around here, I am just curious to know what everyone's cure is for the Big Red... Please list a couple of guys you would like to see be the head man, and give some background and support...
  6. Polls and stupid hypotheticals like these are why 90% of the country loves to watch us struggle... Why would Pelini ever come back to Nebraska??? There are far better opportunities that will be opening up including LSU and A&M.
  7. Not to spoil the party, but this was Iowa State!!! They didn't play that great, hell, ISU had 95+ plays and a few long drives....PLUS ISU's best weapon is a wide receiver that wouldn't start for any team other than ISU or Kansas! Much better than last week, but there is still TONS of room for improvement! Bring on the booger eatin, poo slinger, Chase Daniels.... GO BIG RED!!!
  8. I find it amusing that everyone forgets what Hollywood did against Auburn last year...I was there in person and can tell you that we were definitely getting pushed back on the O Line yet Hollywood did some very impressive things. I agree with many of you that he has been inconsistent, but think about how happy we all would be if he came in as a little known, unheralded kid out of Cali...everyone would be ecstatic with his production. In my opinion, Hollywood will be on an NFL roster for 6-7 years because he does so many of the technical things well and has great hands. One thing that has been hurting him is our lines inability to lock up the first line of the D, if we can do that consistently, I think alot of peoples' opinion on Hollywood will quickly change because he will be able to beat ALOT of guys in the 2nd layer and beyond in one on one situations. We have to give him somewhere to go to see his true ability.
  9. OK, I am not trying to say the coaches are racist or that I am racist, but the statistical truth is that most wideouts at top tier schools are black. There are also, fast and very athletic. My point is that we have a few players like Paul, Holt and Purify who are not getting enough touches and chances to make plays. The response is right about Swift, I like the consistency he brings to the table and he would be a great slot guy, especially while Purify was split out next to him, and Niles was across the field from them. Some teams have to double Mo and would also have to do the same for Paul in the near future, BUT D-Coordinators lick their chops when we run out a 3 wide set with Erickson, Swift and Peterson!!! (And to close the black/white issue, throw in Frantz and T Nunn with those 3) If you actually watch the games and understand football enough to see why certain things happen in certain situations, you will notice teams bring A LOT of pressure when our best athletes aren't on the field (see USC 4th and 2 against Texas w/Bush on the sideline)! The game footage doesn't lie!!! When we bring out the "Possession" package, 3rd downs are going to see A LOT of blitzing from opposing D's!
  10. All the Solich Disciples need to go cheer for Iowa State! He should have never been given the job, think about this logically: If you were a living legend in Nebraska (Dr. Tom), and the AD came to you to pick your replacement, would you actually say, "Let's do a national search and get the best available coach"....ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! You would use your leverage to help someone that has been by your side for years (Frank the Tank), even if you knew he wasn't ready for all the duties a HC is responsible for...He was the freaking running backs coach for god's sake, did anyone actually think he would lead us anywhere but down?!?! We went through some of the BEST YEARS EVER in college football, because like Tiger Woods, we were ahead of the curve in the Strength and Conditioning Department. Then when everyone else caught up and started figuring out ways to beat us with there "freaks" (much like our guys were called in the mid 90's) we were to stuck in our ways to evolve. I think a pro style offense is the only way we will be able to get star recruits, now we just have to do a better job of getting them on the field quicker and developing them and making sure they get into the league so we continue to get pro prospects and compete with OU, USC, Florida and LSU!!! Have faith folks, we will become a very solid, perennial top 10 team in the near future with Cally at the helm!!!
  11. As much as I support Callahan, one thing that drives me nuts is his stubborness to dummy down the playbook a bit to get the best athletes on the field! I am getting sick and tired of watching a bunch of white guys running routes and having no chance of breaking big plays because we don't have our best athletes on the field! I'm not asking Cally to limit the playbook, but just to have a few set packages where we run out some athletes and tell Keller that if the D gives us this look we run simple play A and if they give us a different look we run simple play B!!! Paul, Holt, Purify and the other athletes need to be on the field at once...imagine how many holes we would actually open up for Hollywood (Lucky) if we spread the field with a bunch of athletes and ran out of those formations instead of trying to overpower lines like USC with 3 or 4 guys who are going to the league compared to 2, maybe 3, OL for us who will be going to the league!
  12. Just curious to know who those "3 or 4 guys" are? One of the things that is so difficult about being a Husker fan that doesn't live in Nebraska, is that we get blasted for pointing out obvious things that the rest of the country are seeing without their "Husker" colored glasses! I agree totally that Coz is WAY too passive in his schemes and lacks good adjustments, or even adjustments at all! Why not stick 8 or 9 in the box, and make them show you they are well balanced! Not saying this would have necessarily changed the outcome of the game, but at least we would have known that we threw the kitchen sink at them, and they answered. Booty struggled, their wideouts are still unproven on a consistency level, cause everyone knows the talent is there, and we were giving up 8 or 9+ every run. Back on topic now....We are a solid, top 15 or 20 program in the country, but beyond that, we still don't have all the pieces to make the jump into the Top 10 tier....(at least not on the field YET)! I really like Keller and his swagger, but his gun slinger low release is not great for the WCO and he will continue to have alot of tipped balls at the line! The O Line is getting there but still lacks the big All Pro type NFL talent we became accustomed to. The wideouts are inconsistent, and the most talented ones must not understand much of the playbook (Purify, Paul, Holt...) because they aren't on the field enough!!! Let me take a break to point out that I am not breaking down all these players and saying they are terrible, I am simply stating that if we want to knock off Top 10 teams, we have to have more playmakers.... On the defensive side....I am sure I will probably get kicked off the site for this blasphemy, but here goes anyway...Ruud and McKeon are NOT that good. As this season wears on I continue to be amazed on how bad they are at shedding blocks and wrapping up. They benefited tremendously from teams having to double our D Line last year and had alot of easy tackles, this year teams like USC and A&M won't have to double the D Line and therefore the LB's will have to get off blocks, pursue harder and make plays. The only one truly capable of that is Super Steve! Another thing killing us, is the aggressiveness of Asante the Assassin! Don't get me wrong, I love aggressive mistakes opposed to passive ones (see Shanle!!!), but the staff has to help him make some adjustments or switch his role with Tierre, a much better open field tackler! There are plenty of other things I would like to get into details about, but for now I must go. And as I continue to reiterate, I think this is a quality club that can make some noise still! I also believe we will end up 9-3 at worst, more likely though 10-2, with a home loss to A&M and a big road victory in Austin!!! ALSO, I wanted to point out the fact I am totally behind Callahan, because as Mack Brown has proven, you don't have to be a great coach to win consistently, because if you have better athletes than the other guy, you will win 10 games or more a year!!! Don't throw in the towel Big Red Nation, the Huskers need us more than ever right now to keep this thing rolling the right way!!! GO BIG RED!!!
  13. There should not even be a poll until the first week in October! Who is to say that KSU isn't really good, rather than Auburn is just pedestrian? Who is to say that Clemson isn't a Top 10 team? Who is to say Texas will be lucky to be 8-4? My point is I am sick of teams getting the benefit of doubt at the end of the year because the preseason polls have them ranked higher than another deserving team looking for a BCS bid! I just wish they would let some of the season unfold before releasing rankings especially since many teams don't get to square off on the field like the NFL or FCS teams to find out who really deserves to be playing for a NC!
  14. CORRECTION....HOLLYWOOD will be in the League!!!
  15. I don't know how many other games you guys watched, but nobody else has a kicker putting them consistently into the end zone....As this season wears on, Adi is going to be a huge asset to this squad....and I can not wait until October 27th, the radio wants the whole staff fired and they are finally realizing the harsh reality that Colt McCoy is Colt McCoy, should have had 5 picks!!!!! WOW, did I mention how amazing 6 touchbacks is....IN ONE GAME!!!! And Super Steve Octavien, PLEASE STAY HEALTHY!!!!
  16. This sounds alot like the garbage that took place down here in Austin when Mack Brown took over!!! He just signed a 10 YEAR EXTENSION!!! Give Callahan some time, because if it took Mack 8 years to win in Texas, then it just might take at least that long to win at Nebraska. Don't try to read into that statement as a fair weather Husker fan, because as many in this city can attest, I am as hardcore about the Huskers as humanly possible...BUT I am also realistic and realize that we are coming to recruit in California and Texas and getting USC and UT leftovers, or guys they just weren't interested in. I think after this year plays out, alot of the Husker Nation will see that Callahan is getting it done. For all you Solich disciples, we WILL have a top ten recruiting class, but more importantly a top ten offense!!! Avoiding a couple of key turnovers and this could be a very magical season...I see us going 11-3 at worst!!!! GO BIG RED and let's stop this nonsense about getting rid of Callahan, and give him an extension!!!!
  17. Here is my run down from behind enemy lines in Austin.... Nevada - Closer than it should be early but we will win 38-17. Wake Forest - Not even close 42-10 USC - First test, first loss 31-27 Ball State - Bounce back nicely, 54-3 Iowa State - 45-10, piece of cake Missouri - Keller 5, Daniels 2...45-28 Okie State - 38-37 Adi saves the day A&M - Old school smash mouth grinder, 27-20 Good guys Texas - Could get ugly if passing game doesn't getting going early, my heart says 41-17, brain says 34-21 Evil Empire Kansas - 63-10 Kansas State - 49-17, Freeman strikes early but not often CU - 42-10, rest alot of starters 2nd half and prep for Big XII Championship A&M - Aerial Assault 37-24....HUSKERS!!! 11-2! This would be a hell of a year, realistically I say, 9-4 Again! The 3 game stretch versus the south will be brutal, but Okie State and A&M's seasons could go south in a hurry in the early stages!!!
  18. It doesn't matter to me at all..........AS LONG AS IT ISN'T SHANLE!!! My doc said my blood pressure plummetted back to earth after the Cotton Bowl, knowing he would be moving on....... BUT, since you asked, I will take Asante "The ASSASSIN"!!!! and GREEN until he misses one open field tackle and then go with WILSON
  19. I think it's the player's right, as much stuff as he goes through in the recruiting process! Granted some have taken it to the extreme, but I am waiting for one of these kids to committ to one school to see how the school he wants to reacts when they don't hear its name!
  20. Either way, this is a great step forward for the Husker Nation, to be in Michigan's backyard competing for him is only going to help us ascend the mountain. I can't wait til September 1!!!
  21. The suspense is killing me..........PLEASE BE N!!!
  22. Is there anywhere to listen or view the announcement????
  23. Good for him. No one was letting him kick; why on earth would he stay here? WHO CARES?!?!? HE IS NOT A BIG TIME KICKER! AUTOMATIC FROM 35 AND IN YES! BUT OUTSIDE OF THAT IS A COIN FLIP! Adi has a big mouth and a big leg, let's just hope he doesn't go Vanderjagt!!! He could be another in the line of great NU kickers
  24. I think it should be mandatory for ALL former blackshirts to after a big play until the day they retire....cause I LOVE IT and go freaking nuts every time I see it!!! GO BIG RED! Hope Carriker ends up in Green Bay somehow, but doubt it!
  25. No need to panic. Kids transfer and coaches leave. Remember these are men with big egos. Lateral moves happen all the time. Norvell didn't get any kind of control and obviously wants to control an offense. I think we should move Shawn Watson up and get some one that can focus on recruiting!
