To any parents out there: what do you guys think about the remote learning your district is having your kids do? Positives, negatives?
The feedback I hear is normally good because people realize it isn't my call. I'm just doing what the district says.
But my wife is part "West Omaha Moms" FB group and she says the overall perception is "not good". Many parents in the group seem to be frustrated with the time requirements...

Going to the grocery store for the first time since our stay at home order was surreal...
It was like a dystopian movie or something. Shelves are still mostly empty. People are just kind of in a daze walking slowly through the store, befuddled that they can't find what they want. 50% of the shoppers are wearing masks and/or gloves. The speakers are playing PSAs from government officials and doctors. Every register has a plexiglass shield to separate you and the cashier. It was so odd...

There's tons and tons of variables and many of those are changing. Like how many people are actually practicing social distancing and how effective is social distancing. Different regions will be hit differently based on population density, age distribution of the population, healthcare quality and quantity, and how many people require hospital care simultaneously.
Based on how unprepared the US is for a pandemic and the slow, bumbling response, I think the Imperial College report is probably going to end up being the optimistic case:

My experience with long, slow cooks is anything from 175-200 will be good as long as you wrapped the meat tightly when it got to about 150. Closer to 175 will be tender without falling apart while closer to 200 will be falling apart. Growing up, my dad mopped and/or injected, but since I started wrapping, I haven't done either and the meat stays juicy.
