  1. For me its just the principle of the situation. How are we supposed to create QUALITY depth if we can't keep solid recruits on campus or committed? Shoot OU loses a guy like Reynolds, a five star LB, and inserts Austin Box a four star LB. We lose a four star LB and all of the sudden we are inserting a 6 foot 200 lb walk on. I'm not saying walk ons are all bad but it's not really my ideal situation of having quality depth.
  2. As far as me saying the reason why we lost carter...that's just a situation talked about on here so no facts. Ya I assume the coaches know more than me but it's a freakin message board that you yourself are also on. I'm not pretending, nor once did I say I know even .1% the coaches know, so relax. With that said, unless they are very confident in landing either Reese, Lucas, Wright, Sasser, or Harris I have no idea what they are thinking. Maybe they think one solid wr and a nebraska kid that should be a walk on is solid enough class for wr's. I'm just brainstorming here so nobody shoot me for thinking on a message board, bc this one doesn't make any sense.
  3. WOW, WTF!!! So they lose Carter supposedly bc they want bigger body wr's who can excel in a run based offense, then they stop calling a 6'3 200 lb receiver who could also lead to a top tier back in next years class? What the hell are the coaches thinking? I'm assuming not a lot!
  4. In the recent interview with Wats he was praising the freshmen o linemen pretty heavily. He got asked which freshmen did he think would come in and help the offense next year and he said Qvale and Sirles would have competed this year but they ended up having to have surgery. He then mentioned Ash as getting a lot better throughout the season bc he had to go against Suh every day and held up pretty well. He also said that Coffey has been pretty decent and expects him to be a very good player. Overall I was pretty excited with what he said about the youngsters on the o line.
  5. From the qb's we have been recruiting after Gabbert left and Wats mentioning martinez' speed I really think we are going back to the glimpses we saw out of Solich when we had Lord in 03' with the run emphasized zone read. I really think we are going to try to go to an Oregon or WVU type spread when they had Pat White. If Wats is planning on running the same exact offense with a west coast passing game and is recruiting Carnes and Turner for qb's I will be completely speechless.
  6. I can see him moving into a LB position after a year in the weight program. Especially if we get Cooper since we will have Osborne, Smith, Washington and Cooper already back there.
  7. I don't know why they would start going after Heard. They have two four star rb's already committed for this class and they had two four stars and a three star in last years class. Unless they moved around a couple when they got on campus for last years class and they are fearfull of losing one in this class I can't understand why they would take a third rb. That and I can't understand why Heard would want to go to a backfield that would be so jammed. He could come here and get almost immediate playing time as a third stringer IMO.
  8. Ya I'm getting pretty tired of some of the crap that seems to keep going on as well. Beck, Dukes, Freeman, Gabberts, Lewis, Ross, come to mind just as recent four or five star recruits that have decommitted or left the program. Then we have guys like Williams, Yancy, Leon Jackson, Burkes, Dixon, Stafford, Leverson, Rodgers and Lawrence all quit the program for one reason or another. Since 05' (excluding Dukes) thats 11 four stars, a five star and three highly rated three stars leave the program before they exhausted their eligibility or decommitted before signing day. I'm getting freakin tired of this crap!
  9. Ya we need the schollies but I really don't want to lose someone with the talent of Williams to gain an extra spot. Toiala on the other hand I really didn't see ever contributing in a big way so I'm fine with that. I'm really dissapointed in this Williams case though.
  10. Ya if he was pissed about sitting out this year during a redshirt year then have fun not playing until you're a junior if you go to UT. Damn I really, really was looking forward to seeing this kid play in Bo's D and I really think he could have excelled big time. Fast, explosive and a sure tackler. I think he and Martin would have been an outstanding 1-2 punch in the nickel for years to come.
  11. Nooooo!!!! This better not be a joke. He seemed to be coming back from his knee injury and he had to have been excited about where the D is headed so I wonder what the story is here if this is true. If it is true I am gonna be freakin pissed!
  12. don't forget about reeves, he should be pretty damn good as well. Add in Qvale, Sirles, and Ash and we have something special.
  13. I think Williams, like a lot of freshmen, was way undersized coming in, about 225 lbs. He added quite a bit of weight and is still learning how to carry it. He is extremely athletic and reminds me a lot of Allen when he came in here. Allen was about the same size and it took him all of his redshirt frosh year and a lot of his soph year to adjust then in his junior year he took off. I am expecting pretty big things from Williams and I actually think he has more of an upside than Meredith. Both are going to be very, very good for us in the long run IMO.
  14. I def. agree with knappl and redblooded. I think we have playmakers on the team already they just arent being put into positions to make plays. Niles Paul is a couple plays a game when they go deep to him but otherwise the players that could make plays for us either aren't getting thrown to or simply aren't playing. I have said a lot of times I think Bell could have made a huge impact this year whether that be through jet sweeps, jail break screens, reverses, whatever it takes to get him the ball in a creative way. The same goes for Mendoza. Mendoza only gets the ball when it's a sweep to the outside, if that doesn't work then he gets yanked and never comes back in. I agree the offensive line has to get a lot better and the qb play is down right horrible but nobody will convince me that we couldn't have run a few reverses or jet sweeps or even a halfback pass near the endzone against UT. Worst case is the reverse doesn't work but the backside has to respect a misdirection play, or the corners and safeties can just fly up to try to fill every time. The majority of my gripe is with the coaches.
  15. I really think that the offensive line as a unit is by far the most important ingredient to an offenses success. It doesn't matter how good Lee or Green were this year, if our line sucks and we can't run the ball any quarterack in any system is going to have a very hard time succeeding. I do think that we need to upgrade our qb recruiting and judgment on who to offer. That's two four star and one five star qb's that have decommitted to NU in the past four years. I think Green will be fine, and judging from what qb's we are going after next year and this year to close out I think Green is exactly what the staff is looking for. With an upgrade in our o line play I expect the zone read to really excel with Green in there next year.
  16. does anyone know what was said in that article on scout?
  17. He's possibly just trying to hide it from the coaches to where he's committed to right now. I really hope we can snag this guy as he would be one of the final touches on the offensive side of the ball plus Hill and Heard/Lamb.
  18. Thats funny i just got done watching the same thing. Who in the world is #4? That guy can flat out run.
  19. I must be watching something different on film bc I think this kid is a complete game changer. Of course if got Heard I don't think we would take him. He is a completely different back than Trey so you can't really say that he would be behind Trey and we haven't even landed Green yet and I don't like passing on someone in hope that you get a kid the next year. He could take a redshirt and compete for a ton of playing time as a redshirt frosh when Helu leaves. I know that would be the year that Green would be a frosh and if we land him I fully expect him to get at least 12-15 touches a game. With that said it's never a bad thing to have more than one or two backs that can take it the distance at any time.
  20. If he does go to a team with a 3-4 he would play as a DE not a NT. Also Mccoy could be like Suh if he wanted to bc the guy is a physical freak. He is the same size, has close to the same strength and speed but his motor or want to isn't even in the same ball park. Mccoy is like Suh before the Pelinis got here.
  21. He also seems to be exactly what NU's coaches are looking for. A bigger body guy who's also very quick w pretty good wheels. Not to say he's in the same league but from his highlights he kinda reminds me of a Michael Crabtree.
  22. that and i believe marlowe also went to cardinal mooney just a couple years ago so they probably know each other.
  23. Hahaha I was thinking the same thing. Man I really hope it wasn't!
  24. You said it's either Heard or bust this year and I was saying there is still Lamb even if we miss out on Heard. What if Lamb commits before Heard do we still take Heard? I definately think that Lamb is a game changer. He has outstanding speed and actually has a little better size than Heard from his rivals profile. I would love to get either one of them.
  25. What highly recruited wr's did mizzou get last year? they had jaleel clark who was a 5.6 three star, although was offered by penn st and pitt. tj moe who was a 5.7 three star, kerwin stricker a 5.6 three star, and L'Damien Washington a 5.4 two star. You could say that they are doing well and are solid prospects but highly recruited or highly ranked they were not. They got Wes Kemp and Rolandis Woodland, both 5.7 three stars in 08' but those two along with moe were the highest ranked wr's the last two years aside from Hunt.
