  1. i know one way the d-line will get better and be pretty good this year. because they practice against that GIGANTIC offensive line everyday. those pics coming out of our o-line are impressive to say the least. just like carriker and moore made them better last year, our d-line will improve every day cuz of who they practice against.
  2. i'd like to see them get the most atheletic players on the field who can create turnovers and some big plays. however! not at the expense of giving up big plays and blown assignments. that said, i will take experience and know-how over the possibility of a big play.
  3. he had all those yards and TD's his team still lost. beacuse he didn't have a defense or other players REALLY to help. now, he can do half that, and the WHOLE team will do their part and we will crush, son. CRUSH
  4. trust me, the shifting does multiple things to confuse the defense, show what coverage the defense is in, gives the coaches in the press box a view of schemes, lets the quarterback see blitzes and time to audible, and generally sets up plays to be run later. i will admit that adjustments need to be made on the second-half play calling. in the NFL they make such fewer mistakes and it's not based so much on momentum, that we really need Callahan to go for the jugular. i mean, if we can score 50, let's score 50.
  5. i'm just sick of hearing dumbasses like **** herbstreet, off-the-mark may, and assburger talk about 'well, folks! that used to be Nebraska football, there!!" after every ten yard run up the middle. i'm not trying to invoke the past vs. present or anything, just a 'hell yeah' from NU fans about the lame ass reporting on our new regime.
  6. go to huskerfootball.com and check out the pic of keller. dude looks like a MAN!! says he's put on 10 lbs and weighs 240!! honestly, after Zac was the glue that held this team together, i think Sam is the gun powder to blow it up!! GO BIG RED. damn i am so pumped!!!
  7. yeah, i'm agreeing with you guys totally. i was just imagining sittin on my couch watching the game; and having dumbass assburger tell all the people that have apparently been on mars for the last 4 years that N doesn't run the option anymore and act totally surprised that we might throw it 30 times instead of run it 50. i wish they could say, "Nebraska, the dominant option team of the 80's and 90's have come full circle and run a more balanced attack now." and be done with it. let us fans remember all of our greats and cherish them and quit treating us like idiots who can't recognize a change in our own program.
  8. i understand that Nebraska football stood for something unique in and of itself for better than 30 years. however, i wonder when they (media, pundits, assburger, etc..) quit talking about the 'regime change', the 'old style of NU football' the total makeover....anyway you get the point! this year i hope we win games by spreading the ball around, playing intense defense, solid special teams, and are able to control the clock and yet score in less than two minutes when need be. basically, option football isn't coming back; can they move on or will it always be talked about? can they (we) quit talking about the WCO like it's some kind of revolution to hit us hicks in the midwest, or are we forever to remember Frazier, Crouch, Frost, Gill, etc.? do we even WANT it to just be over and feel like these changes are here and we get it or is it so important that we always keep the memory alive? i LOVE our past and would love to always be remembered for it. but i also would love to shut the naysayers up and win some games with the new system so the announcers will quit talking about the change so we can move on and not have every run up the middle be some "that's what these folks remember around here, running the ball." like we've neve seen ANYthing else.
  9. we sold our stadium out for 45 years in less than one week.
  10. ac/dc thunderstruck is always good pillar frontline tool the grudge wolfmother colossal
  11. good to see there's a little more estrogen out there. my wife could use the company!! especially while i submerge myself in the fall schedule.
  12. nah, i just know there are lots of ladies out there who are Husker fans as well. do they put up with you guys? sometimes i can be in a bad mood for a few days if they lose, i wonder if the girls feel the same or what?
  13. my wife is originally from western Kansas and never cared one way or the other about sports except the fact she was a cheerleader. she is now a pretty damn good Nebraska fan and watches all the games with me and has even been to a couple with me and my family...she leaves me alone when they lose, and cheers with me when they win. she has bought clothes for our son (and soon to be delivered girl), and even lets me have a 'Husker' basement. same could be said for my two brothers wives (one was even a half-assed K-state fan till she met my little bro!! who else is either with a lifetime Husker girl or has a true convert?
  14. if we need a tight end i would say Brad Jenkins only caught a few dozen passes in 4 years, but never dropped ONE. also could block like a muther. plus, a great man of integrity and discipline. loves the Lord and fears no man...and...my dad. but, for real...if this post can be for real...ahman green, he was simply a man among boys in college. on defense i would say...uuummm......danny noonan. that guy was badass on the interior.
  15. he's best served at D end cuz if he starts disrupting passing games, the other team has to GAMEPLAN specifically for him. neil smith broderick thomas grant wistrom wonderful monds III trev alberts adam carriker jay moore all these guys (and more) dominated from this position (or a variation of it) so much so that it anchored our defense simply cuz they were on the field. if turner can give us a little of that, watch out!!
  16. JoePa at Penn State says he would go back to freshman not being able to play and having orientation and junior varsity teams again. i think this article would support that. also the possibility of having all five years to play and not just 4 years. it takes a couple years to adjust to the college life and being away from home for EVERYONE, let alone a 5 star coming out of Hollywood. the ones who do it seamlessly are certainly the exception. (or have their houses paid for, yeah you, Bush) once players 'get it' they can see things for what they are and really excel. this is where it sounds lucky is now. no more tenetiveness or second guessing. just play baby, just play.
  17. just know that most sCUm fans HATE nebraska. i think it's called "win envy" but when we're winning in the third Qtr and all their fans have left, it can be pretty fun. clarion house=most Husker fans.
  18. i believe it was 86' NU loses to Florida State. i was only 10, but it was at that exact moment i realized i NEVER wanted to see my belov-ed Huskers lose again. overall, though 94 NU vs CU. i actually thought going in, we had a chance to lose. but man--we kicked their butts all over the field. the crowd was in an absolute frenzy. and the runza's were extra delicious.
  19. i agree with this. no more meltdowns. beat the CRAP out of teams we should.
  20. yeah, listen to the radio!! the announcers talk about the excitement, the build-up, a short intro of the teams...and then they shut up and just let the crowd do the talking, for like 3 minutes. then you can hear total eruption when the team hits the field!!...man, it's awesome to be able to hear it and not see it when i'm listening on the radio. just gets me twice as pumped. they HAVE to do away with the talking part on huskervision. just show the players marching through the tunnel with some blasting music and let the crowd provide the noise.
  21. the defense was overhauled as well. i believe we've had 3 d-coordinators in the last 6 years, right? it was the overall talent level and a completely new system that's being put in place. offense, defense, special teams, attitude, philosophies, tempo's, schedules, coaches, trainers...you get the idea.\ i think this guys an Oklahama State fan. he keeps comparing us to them especially last years game. i think it's funny though cuz he is just about saying "so when are you guys going to be number 1 again?" like the inevitable is going to happen. just like everyone else in the nation, they know...they know.
  22. penn state a few years ago. i was listening to the radio and watching on tv at the same time. it was spine chills ten minutes straight!!
  23. i think 2 weeks off for them will actually hurt them against us. the preparation will be there but so will the rust. and they will be so jacked up to play the first week, they could shoot their wad and come out lathargic. our speed in the first half and game tempo rythm will be key against a team that hasn't had live action for two weeks is crucial.
  24. in denver, i have people talk to me a lot cuz i wear a hoodie to work out in that's Husker gear. a couple guys started wearing there's too. and his girlfriend played soccer at NU and we had never met, and then one day we did and talked about the great state and the football program for about 2 hours. instant friendship. my wife is from kansas, and is converted now and she points out Husker stickers and plates and stuff!! good bond out here in buffalo-meat land.
