    The whispers around Microsoft buying EA, Valve, and/or PU (along with other game companies) are deafening.

      They wont buy EA(they have enough BS going on and don't want to accept more from a crappy company like EA), Gabe wont sell, and PU might be the only way to go.  Just my opinion.

      Crappy company or no, EA has a lot of appealing IPs, and Microsoft has ~$160b to play with when they repatriate it later this month. 

       

      EA is valued at $35b. If you're playing the long-game, buying Madden and FIFA and Battlefront and making them console exclusive and adding them to Microsoft's game service is a hell of a lucrative play. And it's something Sony is in no position to counter anytime soon. Nintendo, on the other hand...
