  1. Yup, they got the memo--it's why we went up three spots.
  2. Yup, that's how I understand it. It's going to be a challenge finding a home to move into this summer, I fear. We were going to build one...but the prices went through the roof after last February's storm.
  3. Thanks for the tips. Re: selling the current home, if we did that, we would have no trouble selling it within a week--literally. There are homes next to us that were on the market for one day, got ~20 offers, and were signing paperwork a week or so after. Our neighborhood is a very desirable one, and the cost per Sq. Ft. has more than doubled since we bought it. Home prices in Texas are quickly going up--it's why I'm toying with just renting the house out. The longer we sit on it, the more equity and more value we get. Plus if the move doesn't work out for the family...there's somewhere to fall back to.
  4. So it looks like it's finally happening--I'm planning to move my family to Lincoln. w00t!!! However, I have decidedly more stuff and people and animals and vehicles and...etc... to consider than when I moved down with all my belongings in the back of my vehicle. A couple of decades will do that to ya. So, has anyone done an interstate move? Anything they would do over again if they could? Anything to avoid? People to use? Current thoughts/ideas we have: I figure valuables (e.g. guns, electronics, gaming systems) and pets we'd move ourselves. We would sell our existing living room and master bedroom furniture (it's old) and buy new when we get to Lincoln (here we come Schafer's...) We're already starting to purge and will have the mother of all garage sales later this spring... We have a Lincoln realtor we were working with last year...but then my work status was thrown into flux. That's settled now, so we're back on the hunt...but maybe we're too early looking for a home Thing is, I'm also not sure if the move will pan out, and our home value in DFW is growing by major leaps and bounds...so I'd hate to sell it. Maybe refinance (to lower mortgage) and rent it out (and hire a property mgmt. company?) so we can hold on to it...and just take a loan out against equity for the new home? All sorts of questions, and I'm not sure where to go or what the right answers are...so any help or guidance would be appreciated.
  5. For folks that didn't follow through to the column, Cook essentially said (in so many words) that Moos was a good guy, but asleep at the wheel and AD support wasn't there for most of the programs. If Trev steps down, moves on, or he and Mark May finally have the battle to end all battles, then I think Cook should get a serious shot.
  6. That's odd, because I don't remember there being Coke on campus at all from 1994 on. I remember during Freshman orientation someone even commenting on it. I mean, I believe you...but maybe there's two different contracts--one for campus, one for Memorial?
  7. Um...campus was Pepsi exclusive during our run of National Championships in 1994, 1995, and 1997 IIRC...so I'm not sure what good old days you're referring to. I'm pretty sure when people mention the good old days around here, they're talking 1990s.
  8. Yeah I was waiting for someone gifted with gaps of logic to bring this up. This isn't the same thing--do better and quit with the "whataboutism".
  9. Well, cancel culture has been considered "freekn awesome" by Conservative Christians and the GOP for decades until the tables were turned, so this tracks with your predilections.
  10. Um…this isn’t cancel culture. This is dealing with a hand gesture that’s been appropriated by white supremacists…no matter how many times people claim “it was a hoax” and make excuses for white supremacists. If you or anyone else are butthurt by this, then maybe instead of making excuses for people engaging in white supremacy because they support “your guy”, you should be pissed off at the white supremacists and should be working to get rid of them and their enablers…
  11. That’s the thing. No matter how many times white supremacists and their sympathizers trot out the “it’s supposedly a “dumb joke”” narrative, the reality is that you have people using it for *that very meaning*, from trashy high school kids to Police Officers and community leaders. It’s a good thing this changed, and it’s rather telling about who is getting butthurt by this…or continues to trot out false narratives about reality.
  12. Excited for Brian Buschini out of all of those.
  13. So are there any Offensive Linemen or Defensive Linemen (that we can convert to Offensive Linemen) that are still in the portal worth looking at (and that Nebraska is in on)? I mean, I'm happy to hear about all of the skill position success we've had, and I'm happy we have a new O-Line coach, but if he doesn't have anything to work with...then aren't these efforts all for naught?
  14. I don't recall preseason rankings actually having more than one B1G team in the Top 25 since we joined (actually--maybe once with Michigan and Indiana). Too soon to say the conference is weak, but it's good to hedge bets, nevertheless. Also, may go down and see the kids play at Sam Houston State. That's not the best town around, but the school is trying to better itself, despite the decidedly non-academic side the city possesses.
  15. The Series S is the perfect little 1080p GamePass machine. And couple that with pouncing on Three Month GamePass Ultimate cards for $18 each...you can get a hell of a lot of gaming for $72/yr.
  16. As long as EA makes bank off of sports video games, and those leagues have provisions in their contracts saying the games have to be multiplatform...EA really isn't worth it for either company, I reckon. Star Wars is being farmed out to multiple companies (including Microsoft supposedly), and BioWare is a shell of its former self. Dragon Age and Mass Effect are looking long in the tooth ever since the talent left (and Anthem was a dud). Sony's already in a similar boat with their baseball title and MLB--they're making games for the Microsoft platform (and GamePass, no less) because their MLB contract stipulates release on both PS and Xbox platforms. Madden and FIFA have the same stipulations (and FIFA goes further to include Switch--that's why you see the s****y ports every year for that system).
  17. If you're a gamer, s*** just got real in the Microsoft camp:

    That's a hell of a power play.

From time to time, I do enjoy playing an older version of Flight Simulator on my pc.  I really really want to get Flight Simulator 2020

  18. https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/18/tech/microsoft-activision-blizzard-acquisition/index.html Don't forget that Microsoft just bought ZenniMax, owners of the Elder Scrolls, Doom, Wolfenstein, and other prolific franchises. And with Activision, Microsoft now has (former) Sony mascot franchises Crash Bandicoot and Spyro (though they've both been multiplatform recently). And Diablo. And World of Warcraft. And Call of Duty. And Tony Hawk. And.. I don't know how you top this if you're Sony or Nintendo. Perhaps Sony will go after EA and try to force the FIFA and Madden licenses to console exclusivity? Then again, they couldn't do that with MLB and Sony's own in-house game (which was great to play on the XBox Series X this past spring). But if you don't have GamePass yet...you're missing out.
  19. I'd like to say that isn't the case, and then point out how we were going toe-to-toe on the O-Line with both tOSU and Michigan. But that's not really an accurate thing to do/say, now is it?
  20. Glad he's able to get back to DoNU. Class act and I'm damn sure glad he's on the sidelines again. BTW, not sure if you've heard, but Busch is from Pender, NE. *ducks for cover*
  21. I feel that we need more trough-style urinals and closer seating. Maybe some automatic lift bleacher seats and Geritol so the blue hairs will finally stand up and be loud. Also another large television display over the South End...or at least make the smaller ones look better and widescreen.
  22. Yup. I agree. By all rights, we *should* be 6-1 or 7-0 before we head into that final five week stretch...but honestly, I'll settle for 5-2 at this point, and hope we can at least get Illinois and/or Minny and go bowling.
  23. Looks like a mixed bag: We had two bye weeks in October, now there's one right after non-Con and another before we start the back five stretch of the schedule. The bye week placement is better than both in October, IMO. We kinda got hosed on the last five games of the year--we had Rutgers and Pur-f*****g-due in the mix (IIRC), now we get Illinois and Minny...and then @ Michigan, Wisky, and @ Iowa. Oof...that's decidedly worse. Otherwise, just FYI. Make sure your (true) friends plan their weddings and events for the new bye weeks.
  24. Jordan Larsen to Texass as a Volleyball coach? What in the actual f***?!!?

Settle down dude.  Sometimes you take a job wherever you can get it.  Regardless of what we feel towards Texas, they are a great program and it's a great opportunity for Jordan.

@ColoradoHusk I get that she needs a paycheck and a gig.

But damn...couldn't she have found a landing spot with another program that's not diametrically opposed to our existence as a program?

@VectorVictor NU would only play Texas in the NCAA tournament and the occasional non-conference match.  It's not like Larsen is getting her start with a conference rival, which even then wouldn't be a big deal.
