  1. This is amazing we have Alabama fans and Auburn fans on this board tonight agreeing on something! War Eagles! Roll Tide! Fight On! You're uniting the nation Nebraska!
  2. I haven't wanted to reveal my identity, but I am Pete Carroll. I felt I must do this to squash the rising tide in Husker Land wanting my services. I will add that if called, I will not interview, and if hired anyway, I will not coach. Now back to preparing for Notre Dame. Pete - I heard that ND was going to buy out Weiss and give you double what he is currently getting paid for twice the duration. You'd go, suck it up as a coach to get bought out, then retire. Thus completing your evil plan to completely destroy Notre Dame's football program. Curses! My plan has been foiled! The Dome must be razed to the ground! Ooops. I'm hyperventilating!
  3. Won't wear them for the rest of the year you were saying? Come on, give them a chance. We'll see, but lets wait before throwing water on the fire. OK?

  5. Yes because aside from the NU game the USC offense being led by this guy has been ripping everyone apart. If I'm not mistaken since Chow left this dude has been taking most of the USC blame when it comes to losses. Actually you are mistaken. The guy who got all the blame last year was OC Lane Kiffen, current coach of the Raiders. Sarkisian is the new OC. USC played last week with only ONE starter playing on the OL. As Pete Carroll said, "We are playing backup's backups". Also, the starting quarterback was out, and the running back that ripped NU was out. Thats not counting having starters on defense not playing. The winning touchdown by Stanford was against our 4th string Dback. The guy you Huskers sent to the hospital still hasn't played again. I have never seen a team decimated by this many injuries. Knowledgeable fans know the OC can't be blamed for not being able to field a healthy team.
  6. I was asked recently on this board to describe what it was like during USC's dark days of falling from glory. Well, I really don't need to explain it to you anymore, you are going through it yourselves. My daddy always told me, "Son, the best education you will ever get is from the School of Hard Knocks. Unfortunately, the tuition is extremely high." The Husker Nation is paying tuition now. Good luck, you will come out the better on the other side when you return to the top. In the mean time, there will be a lot of false hopes, dead end trails, and bitter disappointments. But in the end you will prevail because you are Nebraska! GBR
  7. You're right players fight all the time, at least at SC. There is more to this.
  8. We had six kids and the same thing happened with our 5th and 6th babies. We think our cats got tired of all that middle of night crap waiting for us to get out of bed and just took matters in their own hands.
  9. I always look forward to your posts. Thanks for making me feel welcome.
  10. I think Keller would be a Heisman candidate if he was on a good team. I was not a fan of Keller's after seeing him in 05 against us at ASU, but I am a big fan of his now. This kid is more than a winner in my book, he is a champion. He has won me over with what he has done on the field against overwhelming odds. Add the class he has shown off the field, I don't see how you can even think that must less say it. But, I guess you have your reasons. Quarterbacks always get a large measure of the blame when things go wrong and the credit when things go right. JD Booty is getting a lot of heat at USC right now, but a lot of it is not his fault. I like JD Booty a lot, but I would trade him for Keller. I can't believe I just said that!
  11. Yes, you guys have that special place in the public's eye.
  12. During the run up to the USC-NU game someone posted that with a name like "Booty" JD Booty should change his name. Well, I knew a guy named Joe Sh$t. He changed his name to "Bill" because he said he got sick and tired of people coming up to him asking him, "What do you know Joe?"
  13. Thats unbelievable! No way would I get on that. I have ridden everything at Cedar Point's roller coaster capital of the world in Sandusky Ohio, but I wouldn't get on that!
  14. So thats what I have been smelling when those warm fronts move in from the plains.
  15. I agree Keller is not the problem. In fact, he is one of the few bright spots on the team. When the year started I wasn't a big fan of Keller's. I remembered how we dismembered him in 2005 and how he was in a panic when pressured. I expected more of the same this year but I was wrong. He is not like that now. Despite the O-line's woes Keller has been a stalwart. Go pick on someone else. There are plenty of other players not playing up to their potential.
  16. Let me collect my thoughts on that. For starters, Pete Carroll is the answer for the turnaround. Most fans were shocked that Pete got the job. He was 4th or 5th choice. He was branded as a "failure" because of his NFL days. Clearly he was the man for the job. Yet, one of our coaches during those dark days was the return of John Robinson who had led USC to a NC when he was coach earlier. It just seemed like you could plug him in and go back to where we were. Didn't happen. Mediocrity continued. However, to be successful you need to have other ingredients besides the right coach. We had the talent. We had the tradition, ie expected to win. We had the facilities. We had the luck to be in a media center. Somehow they all came together when Pete arrived. What were the dark days like? Well, instead of expecting to win our games, we just hoped we would beat UCLA and Notre Dame, thinking that would give us some sense of satisfaction. What were the dark days like? There seemed to be an acceptance after awhile that our glory days were past and that was the way it was going to be. There was a new paradiam and we weren't part of it. What were the dark days like? AD Mike Garrett, a former SC Heisman, re-established the old USC attitude much like the "We are Nebraska" attitude. What were the dark days like? Well, there is lots of stuff to do in LA and TV, the Lakers were real good, so we drowned ourself in other "entertainment" Thats the biggest difference. We had other things to do. The whole state's honor wasn't tied up with our football team. What were the dark days like? Early there was a lot of finger pointing. A lot of looking for the magic bullet, ie a new coach, who would thrust us back to the top. When it did come, no one saw it coming. What were the dark days like? There were a lot of talk about back in the day when the teams were great and remembering our Heismans (Pre O.J. remember!) What were the dark days like? Dark. You don't want to go there. This Stanford game made a chill come over me like in the dark days. I don't like that feeling. Its not fun. You just have to man up. so any suggestions for us? I think we are getting the talent(maybe not for a NC, but certaily to compete for a big 12 title) the facilities and finances. You have to begin looking at a coaching change. It depends on how you do the rest of the season. This may sound crazy, but I think you can beat Texas. Finish strong and give your coach another year. Spiral out of contention and you have to consider a change. Just like life, its how you finish that is more important than how you start. Don't turn on each other. Most people on this board are real fans. I think the fair weather ones have pretty much ridden off into the sunset at this point. People like Foppa are real fans. People like him are hurting. I just single him out as an example. There are many Foppas out there. I respect the Solich crowd and the Callahan crowd. You are both true fans. At this time its very important you remain loyal to each other no matter how much you disagree with the other side's position. Its you, people like you who are Nebraska! We didn't have the internet like now during our dark days, so outsiders couldn't hear us rip each other, the coaches, the program, the players. Prospective players read these boards. Your voices could easily turn them off. Some of the personal attacks on some of your football players on this board have really been harsh. If a kid missed a tackle or dropped a ball, point it out. But don't go beyond that. Remember what the Okie State coach said. I wished I knew what the magic bullet was, but if I did I would probably be a high paid football consultant. I don't know the status of high school football in the state, but I would set a goal of recruiting and developing every good player in the state as well as surrounding states. PC makes a point to make the heart of the team from California. I realize Nebraska high school ball isn't on the level of California, Texas, or Florida. There are lots of players who don't want to go far from home. For example, UNC's new football coach Butch Davis landed one of the nation's top recruits who was seriously considering SC, Texas, and several SEC schools, because the kid wanted to stay close to home and play for a winner like Davis. Look what Notre Dame and Michigan has done since the beginning of the year. The domers beat UCLA and Big Blue has climbed back into the top 25 and the season is only half over. This year is not a loss at this point. It looks frightening. "Fear doth make cowards of us all." But I believe when the turn around comes, it will catch you by surprise and come from a direction unexpected. Sorry for not having "the answers" you need. Hang in there. Find something that works. GBR

  18. I thought the game I saw in LA was bad, but this comment tops it. Pathetic!
  19. How much do you think it makes us look! I didn't think we could play worse than last week. I was wrong.
  20. Got to keep that tradition going at Baylor. Hope the Bears win. Your butt may be in Texas, but we know your heart is in Nebraska. I don't know where "Husker-hell" is, but I think it's anytime you get caught in the crossfire of the Solich/Callahan crowds.
  21. There you have it, another "arrogant" USC fan. Seriously, I want to come to Lincoln and experience this sometime. You guys keep on impressing. GBR
