  1. You're right, Westbrook lit it up at Villanova before getting his shot at the NFL.
  2. I didn't realize we even had a chance with him.
  3. My guess is Arkansas and only based by the way he gushed about the facilities.
  4. I think BW was just using that to make his point about the recruiting services updating and re-updating info and not having anything concrete until it is actually known to all.
  5. The sooner the better IMHO. That way everyone can refocus elsewhere without too much bad feeling with the other potential recruits. I totally understand why the effort on the part of the staff is what it is...Mr. Green could very well be the next Tommie Frazier, but he could also be the next Carlyle Holiday. Isn't recruiting great!!!
  6. This was very thoughtful of him. Whoever gets him can use the holiday to celebrate, those that don't can use the holiday to binge drink and move on!
  7. If NU does get him, great. My hope is that NU hasn't alienated the other QB talent in the race for Mr. Green.
  8. As I understand it, KSU fans aren't real proud of it either.
  9. Maybe I missed this post earlier in the thread. What positives has Green talked about with aTm other than it being close to home and their tradition?
  10. I originally wanted Grobe, but looking back at it, I feel Osbourne made the right decision. Nebraska needed defensive help. Pelini is one of the - if not the best - defensive minds in college football today. If anyone can get an almost dead last defense on track, it's him. Getting a "proven" coach doesn't mean anything. Some individuals do not fit into certain cultures, and as we have seen, this can be disastrous. I think fitting into a culture is one of the most important criteria while searching through job applicants. If they don't fit in with the culture, it doesn't matter how "proven" they are, it's not going to work. I think Osbourne noted (and learned) that bringing in an outsider is very risky, unless both sides' expectations align perfectly. He didn't want to have another Callahan Error (Era), so he went with someone whose personality and character meshed with the Nebraska culture. And to say hiring Pelini is not a "step forward" is hypocritical. These same people are saying he is unproven, but then they go and say that hiring him wasn't a step forward? How do they know? He's unproven...remember!? My opinion on Groebe. Given the year NU had, if he could not beat our team last year at home he would have been a lateral hire at best.
  11. I think the real problem with the new uniforms is that they are just too blah. If they were truly horrific (oregon, syracuse), classic(nebraska, penn state) or unique(michigan, hawai'i) they would at least be memorable. As they look now, they crowd themselves in with a bunch of similarly designed uniforms one of which happens to be attached to a much better team(USC). The whole thing lacks effort and screams me too. Don't even get me started on the helmet logo. Bottom line...if you're going to change the look of a uniform go all out and do it right.
  12. I'd be up for watching the better football game. There's always a chance that ASU/Oregon will be close and unless USCs first team takes the day of and lets the practice squad take the field, USC/Arizona will be very one sided.
  13. If its Ronnie Wingo we are. Robinson and Zimmererer would doubtless be moved to other positions if the right people came along. That is, Wingo is at another level (or two) above Robinson and if signed on, Robinson would be a LB, a fullback or something else. There is no way that NU would pass on Wingo if they had a shot. I agree. I'd think NU would take talent whenever possible.
  14. Holy crap. Tennessee is having an amazing year ... in recruiting. Didn;t they just sign another QB that NU was about to offer? I think you might be thinking of RB Jarvis Giles.... I believe OP was referring to the Petty kid we offered at QB.
  15. I really hope that this is not true. If true, it would appear a little over-the-top. I really hope it's not.
  16. This is good news, but how has his ankle healed?
  17. What are the odds we pick him up at another position if Green commits first?
  18. Can probably cross Tennessee off of his list now that Giles committed to them.
  19. Good luck to him. Maybe Oku?
  20. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writ...gningday/1.html I thought this article was interesting. I for one feel the recruiting situation has taken a wee turn toward the chaotic. Doing this couldn't make it any worse than it already is.
  21. Any of the three you mentioned would be great to have.
  22. So does this mean we have a shot at him? I thought I heard he wasn't interested in NU.
  23. We need to return to the national spotlight in order for this to happen. It requires winning, and when you are in a small market like Nebraska, winning a lot. We haven't been there since 2000. Success breeds success in recruiting. What about the 01 national championship game? Anyways recuirting is all about relationships with the players and selling your program. I don't think BO needs to have the top talent guys like the coach that shall not be named. Bo wants to develop the players he gets. Not saying he is not recuirting the top guys just saying it is not the top priority. Everything such as winning, fan base and everything else helps with recuirting. It will be interesting the next couple of years to see who Bo and staff can pull in. My question still stands. If we have a coach like Pelini, who can definitely build good relationships, and if we are in fact NEBRASKA, and if that's all it's about, then why are we never in the running for big name guys? Because they aren't our priority? That's not it, because we're still going after them. I think it's because everyone is waiting to see if Coach Pelini is a good Head Coach and not just a great Defensive Coordinator. Soon enough the recruits will be knocking down the door to be a part of a team with Bo as Head Coach
  24. I think the best thing he did while he was here had to be recruiting. Opinions on Lucky vary, but getting him to come to NU over the more successful programs of that time was HUGE. Biggest thing he didn't intend to do while here: Got a lot of spoiled cornhusker fans (myself included) to really appreciate the decades long run of success we've been fortunate enough to have had.
  25. I thought June was hired by SMU?
