  1. Amen to that! I loved the video! It was great to see the Blackshirts who'd make a team hate to line up again at the ball because of the physical pounding they were getting. Remember when the Blackshirts would make an offensive line give up in the 1st half and the QB would take a pounding? Nebraska needs a Defensive Coach who knows and understands and cherishes Husker Blackshirt Tradition. BRING THE SKULL AND CROSSBONES BACK BABY!!
  2. My first Husker Home game was in 1995 Washington State came to Memorial Stadium, and it was a close one. I had a AM/FM radio with a speaker in one ear listening to the play by play by Pavelka and he said the crowd was as loud as they can remember. My brother and I were in the End zone pretty high up, but we had a great view. The football players were larger than life! My brother and I went to the ISU game that year too for the return of Phillips.
  3. From what I remember one of the Assistant Coaches under Osborne saying about how Osborne handled the Lawrence Phillips situation from the video/DVD "More than Winning" the assistant told Osborne to basically break ties with Phillips. Osborne replied, "I can't do that to that young man". I think the key here is young man. If a player is getting criticized Osborne will take him under his wing and do what's best for him, a man the age of Callahan who's had more life experience has more going for him. That's not to say that Osborne wouldn't give Callahan another year. I honestly think from a fans standpoint, that Osborne looks in the best for everyone. I don't think we have to feel bad for Callahan if he's fired though, he will get a very big paycheck if he's fired. All we can do is sit and wait and see what happens after the CU game. I will support Osborne's decision either way too because Osborne will be very open about his decision unlike Pederson was with Solich.
  4. Personally, I'd just be happy with any of the Big XII teams winning the NC. If Oklahoma and Kansas win the rest of their games, the Big XII championship winner is going to the National Championship. I'm not sure about Missouri. Do Missouri and Kansas play yet this season? It's going to be amazing to see how this one plays out.
  5. Gosh, it's a toss up. In no particular order... Tommie Frazier Trev Alberts Christian Peter Jason Peter Grant Wistrom Turner Gill Keith "End Zone" Jones Neil Smith
  6. I remember back in 1986 I was working as a bus boy at Johnny's Cafe and was asked to bring some ice water to a table but "please don't gawk", I brought up the water and to my amazement sitting at the table were Tom and Nancy Osborne. Tom had a big smile on his face and said hello. I exclaimed how I thought he was a great coach and I knew someday he'd win the National Championship, (The 1984 Orange bowl was still fresh in my mind). Tom Osborne kind of gulped, smiled and said, "Well, thank you." Nancy Osborne seemed to be very proud of Tom there too. I just remember him having an aura around him. I can only imagine what it must be like to be around a great/positive figure like Tom Osborne all the time.
  7. I'm not trying to be a holier than thou Cornhusker Fan, but I started thinking about how this Saturday's game against KSU is "Senior Day". I'm hoping that the fans at the stadium give a rousing ovation to the players who are playing their last game at Memorial Stadium. They've experienced some good times, and some bad times, let alone some really bad times. The players who started as Freshmen might have experienced the "Callahan Era" if Tom Osborne decides to bring in a new coaching staff for the 2008 season. All I'm trying to say is, for the Seniors, and for the players and For the love of the game, lets just be the best Cornhusker fans we can be in this one and just let what happens, happen at the end of the season.
  8. Personally, I'd like to see Kent Pavelka come back and have additional commentary by Gary Sadlemeyer (SP). It would just be nice to hear a game again and know who's got the ball, what down it is and how many yards they have to go to get a first down, let alone every time the other team scores have it be like you witnessed a slaying. I like a announcer who gets fired up about the Huskers, but I prefer to turn down the announcers on the TV and turn up the radio. I used to like it when you could hear the action on the field, not just the talk in the booth.
  9. Looks like somebody was trying to draw attention (and TV cameras to himself). If I was at the KU game I wouldn't put a bag over my head. I am proud to see all of the TRUE Cornhusker fans around Omaha that are still wearing their Husker gear. I've got a Husker hat on today while I run errands and a Husker Jacket. If their were KU fans with Paper Bags, it was probably because they were planning to pick up dates later that evening.
  10. Of Course we're gonna be nice Billy Boy, we know you're headed out the door after the Colorado game.
  11. I'm working today starting at 10:30 at a Super Target, I'm hoping that I'll be able to get at least a break during the game, and I'm taping it so I can watch the game tonight. It will be amazing to see how busy we actually are at the store today since it's on FSN. I'd love to see Nebraska pull off the upset. GO BIG RED!
  12. That would be The late, great Brook Berringer. One cannot forget however when Berringer went down with a collapsed lung when Matt Turmun (or is it Turmon) took over against KSU. I have the utmost faith in Joe Ganz. Win or lose he's going to have the team behind him. I have having Keller out for the remainder of the season with a broken collarbone, but in a way it's in our favor to have Ganz starting against Kansas because Kansas doesn't have a lot of game film to look at. GO GET 'EM JOE!!
  13. Just think of the years that Colorado had the season we're having this year or they were worse off. It's a tradition of College football. It might not be as exciting for most of us as Nebraska-Oklahoma was, but it's still a "Day after Thanksgiving" tradition.
  14. "Bevo" Texas Longhorn's Mascot Ok, so maybe it's after you lop the horns off, etc....
  15. Colt McCoy Chunk from "The Goonies" movie
  16. Nebraska has a "Waterboy"? I figured he'd have some sort of significant name like "Rehydration Administrator". I love all the Waterboy references by the way.
  17. Great video. It's time for the Cornhuskers to take all the emotions and explode them out on the field. A team which has nothing to lose can be very dangerous. I'm rooting for the players win or lose!
  18. I had a dream last night where I was watching the Kansas State at Nebraska which is Nebraska's final Home game of 2007. In my dream Nebraska lost 42-10 and suddenly this came up on Huskervision.... dwnqqj5Q1BU Reading into my dream, I'm thinking either the fans will be singing this song to Callahan at the last game in Memorial Stadium, or we'll see the Buffaloes singing this song in Colorado to Callahan. I'm sorry if I'm upsetting anybody, I have an over-active imagination and very vivid dreams too.
  19. What's the difference between a Cornhusker and a Tornado? A Tornado usually gets a touchdown.
  20. That video said it all. Bo Pelini getting it done as Head Coach for Nebraska in their Bowl Game, and if my memory serves me correctly the players expressed how they wanted Pelini to be their head coach. Of course there's Nebraska's A.D. with his head halfway up his arse. In the Oklahoma game, Pelini had the Sooner D all over Nebraska. In all honesty, I'd love for Pelini to come back to Nebraska to be the head coach. He'd be able to bring in the right coaching staff, he'd recruit top notch players, Pelini is the coach that's NFL standard, not OVERRATED Callahan.
  21. I have to be at work at 1pm till about 9:30 that night on Saturday, I guess if there are a lot of people shopping at Target during the game, I'll know we're losing badly. I'd love to see Nebraska at least keep it close, who knows... Maybe the Cornhuskers will take all the negativity of the season and explode it onto the field. It should be interesting for sure.
  22. I'm wondering if maybe Tom Osborne's reasoning for waiting till the end of the season is so that as limited as the leadership is in the coaching staff, the Cornhuskers have some, and Osborne knows that changes can be made at the end of the season so that you don't have to rush anything.
  23. I remember here in Omaha after whatever game this year, on the Todd & Tyler show, they said that Nebraska Fans are "No longer the best fans in the country". They explained that the Husker fans boo their team just like the rest of the fans of the country. Granted some of us might fold our arms during a game and we want to see changes, but I don't think most true Husker fans would boo the team out of Memorial Stadium. Win or lose I imagine all of the fans on this board would stay till the final gun. I am a Cornhusker Fan who bleeds Scarlet Red. I remember getting tickets to the Colorado game the year after the 62-36 loss. When was that? I am thinking 2002. Anyhow, Jamal Lord and co were having an off game and there were some fans booing. Some of us explained to the booing fans, that #1 we're on ABC and will be showing negativity on the air, and #2 if you're a true Husker fan say nothing instead of booing. At the end of the game, a couple Colorado fans came up to the section of the stadium I was in and explained to us that it's fans like us that make the Big XII proud. They went on to say that there are some Buffalo fans that give Colorado fans a bad name and to please do everything we can to make sure that Nebraska Fans don't let a few bad fans effect the image of the fans as a whole.
  24. Lets look at Callahan's 26 wins and compare them to the 19 losses. I'm sure in the 26 wins a majority of them were ones where there was no doubt we'd win. However in the 19 losses, I know there are ones we could or should have won. The way Callahan is talking at conferences, I wonder if he's the only one who hears himself? I think he has to give himself "self worth". I think it speaks for itself that he never says, "The players are playing at 100%, this is the best they can do". Didn't Nebraska at the beginning of the season say they were a contender for the Big XII North? In all honesty, I'm still Rooting for the Cornhuskers, but Callahan has to go.
