  1. I have sort of a numb feeling... I guess I can't get all worked up about it this week because there is someone in place to actually see the problem now, and someone that will actually do something about the problem. After the MO disaster (not quite a harsh enough word) I told my dad I wasn't having anything to do with the Huskers until they fired Stevie P. I only had to miss one game!! When I got home from work on Monday I dug out a Husker shirt and it was the first time in probably years that I put a Husker shirt on on purpose (I have so many that when laundry day comes around that I end up with one based on random chance). But, yeah, numb is a good word... (I need to quit reading this and study calculus....wish my internet connection would go down for the night!)
  2. I'm trying to find out how to get tickets to that - can't find a link. (I live in Houston, do the drive is almost perfect...)
  3. I managed to get lucky and get tickets to the game at aTm last fall. The student section (which is one half of the stadium) does stand the whole game, but when they get into their swaying back and forth the ENTIRE stadium does it. I had tickets on the other side at about the 25 yard line, lower level, almost the back row. People over there just plain IGNORE Husker fans. Outside the game (before the game) I had a few people talk to me, but mostly people looked at me with a look on their face that suggested they were thinking "Hmmm, hope he doesn't walk on the grass...". Seriously, don't walk on any grass there - I think ALL of the grass is a memorial for something... But it was a good time. EDIT - forgot to mention that the student section noise is like a freaking light switch. It's ON or it's off. If the Aggies had the ball, you can hear the coaches yelling all over the field (PASS..PASS or whatever). When the Huskers had the ball, you couldn't hear ANYTHING...
  4. Just a bump to get this one back to the top...don't like seeing player bashing... Low morale = mistakes like dropped passes and punts.... I can't bring myself to bash these guys...
  5. These are national rankings.. 6. Just remember that TO was not a firey coach most of the time. He made a science out of when and how much to get the players up for a game. I'm just saying....... I agree with you 100% - he didn't NEED to show fire - the players had it in them right from day 1 because they were part of TRADITION. Far too many of the current group haven't watched NU since they were kids, haven't dreamed of running out that tunnel...they're here for a shot at the NFL. Period. Not all, but far too many. In addition, someone else mentioned the walk-on program - in past years the starters played their butts off because they knew that for every starter there were 10 guys NOT on scholarship trying to get that one chance...
  7. 100 posts, 5300+ views....IBR is a local celebrity....
  8. Honestly, I really don't think any of these guys are without passion or intensity - the problem is that Businessman Bill has taught them the businessman's manners, the businessman's work ethic, and the businessman's game plan. Hey, coach - If you want to get guys fired up, show a little fire yourself - it's contagious, like defeatism. The Mr. Spock inspired passion for football has got to go - hint, see Bo Pelini, Alamo Bowl... For those of you not supporting the players, you need to remember that on Saturday their duty is to repeat what they've been taught all week - if they haven't been taught to tackle, they won't. If they haven't been taught fire and passion, they won't have it Saturday... Even though I want Businessman Bill & Co. gone as much as the rest of you, I cannot bring myself to bash the players or hope for them to lose. I think we have an excellent group of players that haven't been blessed with the same for coaches. I'm sure they're doing everything their taught...
  9. Well, that would be a good idea, except I don't think there were any D personnel close enough to the Aggies to put the newly acquired skills into use....
  10. I think I'm with most people - we love having the scoop before it's "official" - it makes us feel like we're part of the inner sanctum, which we aren't. I'm personally a big fan of you posting the info, getting flamed (I don't think I've ever flamed anyone, on any forum), and then dropping the big, fat, I TOLD YOU SO on them...but that's just me...
  11. I'm the winner....till the next Cornhusker fan posts...
  12. Good music at the beginning.... And the photo - I was at that game...managed to get tickets from friends that went to A&M - got to sit in a real seat with a back, too. That catch was SO pretty in person... Good enough video...look at defensive yards allowed by Billy and by Frank - that's what's frightening...decline of the defense...
  13. It's no different than some people popping their knuckles, or chewing their fingernails, or CONSTANTLY clearing their throat - personally I pop my wrists - I get annoyed at myself when I do it - I'm sure it looks stupid, but it's become a habit that I haven't been able to break. I'm sure he's got a little pop going in his jaw joint, and I'm sure he gets annoyed about it, but it's a habit he's developed... Either way, I hope this is his last year in Nebraska...
  14. I voted "skeptical" but IBR's posts have mostly come out true... I'm still having a hard time believing Warren Buffet would fork over ANY money to ANYONE, especially for athletics...after all, the guy thought so poorly of the WHOLE world that he gave like 50 billion dollars to the ONLY guy in the WHOLE WORLD that is richer than he is... But other than that, IBR seems to know it all before it hits the papers...
  15. You forgot Paul Johnson - Navy...look up his stats, offensive production and win records - he needs help on defense I think.
  16. The triple option is STILL a viable system. Here's the plan facts: NO TEAM has ever led the nation in rushing 3 consecutive years. 15 schools have 2 consective, but NONE have 3 - Navy - yep, Navy - has a shot to do it this year. Since 2002 they've finished #3 twice and the rest have been #1 Oh, and by the way, Navy is #11 in number of wins over the last 5 years... #12 in winning percentage away from home 2003-2007 #19 home winning percentage 2003-2007 #21 total offense so far this year (455.2 ypg) #15 passing efficiency (they don't do it ofte, but they get it right when they do it) #4 in 4th down conversions - yes, 4th down #8 in 3rd down conversions Against Ball State this year they had 585 total offense, 521 on the ground Remember this is Navy - they don't have an "exercise science" program - these guys study engineering, and they also POUND THE ROCK (I hate that phrase) So, yes, the triple option is still viable... Wonder if Paul Johnson is taking phone calls...
  17. TO also said on Monday that he hasn't spoken to Perlman about the AD job and then we find out today that he was in Cally's office on Friday.....ummm why would that be?? And then Perlman admits that he talked to Osborne on Sunday. Don't believe everything you hear in press conferences. Also, Perlman said they had to start the search for an AD yesterday and they already had talks with TO. Trust me, Cally is already gone....they are merely waiting until the right time. TO hinted towards getting rid of Cally. You gotta listen to it and in political speak he is not supporting Cally. Not once did he say he supports them. I read SATURDAY that Dr Tom met with the team and with Callahan Friday - nothing sneaky, it was just a "hey, everyone, here's the bigtime famous coach who will be honored on the field tomorrow" kind of deal. That's it.
  18. I thought walk-ons had to pay their own way - including food...
  19. Players always feel this way when coaching changes are threatened, and when they occur - the players feel like outsiders while on the inside when stuff like this happens. Even when things are going bad all around them, the players and coaches have a bond - their fate is tied together, sort of - obviously you can't "fire" college players, but they feel like someone took their parent when a coach is fired. Some leave immediately. Some meet the new staff and then leave. Some stay for a while, then leave. Most just stay - these would be the ones that have wanted to wear the white helmet with the big red N on the side since they could walk...
  20. Living in Houston I don't get local coverage, but watching video clips on one of the Omaha stations (6 I think) one of them specifically confirmed that TO had spoken with Perlman - would love to know more about that...
  21. I'm going to have to disagree on this one - I think Husker pedigree is exactly what we need right now - the bigger the better. I do agree that it doesn't take a former player to make a good AD, but I think it takes a good Husker pedigree to really understand what the Husker Family is all about...you know, I might have just talked myself out of this - maybe it DOES take a former player - after all, Stevie P had a long Husker pedigree and just didn't get it done. Maybe only a former player will really "get it" in that position... I do like the thought of Rimington, though...
  22. Haha - was waiting for someone to mention Joe Glenn... He's the head coach at Wyoming...if you don't know why Wyoming is significant, you need to read a bit of Huskers History..Glenn has been there 5 years with a 25-28 record at the school. Overall he has 23 years as a head coach with a 182-88-1 (0.672) record. I don't think Joe Glenn is our guy... I know the Husker History, but not every coach since Bob the Father who has coached there LOL - I looked it up last week to see who the current coach is there on the off chance they had some young up-and-coming guy at the helm - not really a big follower of Wyoming football

  24. Kinda weird, but my mom always tells me that she was the flower girl at the wedding of Dave Rimington's parents - sort of a weird indirect relative somehow. I've never met that part of the family, though. Can you imagine the effect of bringing Rimington in, even on an interim basis? Not much more Husker Tradition than that.
  25. although in one segment Mark May was nicer than his usual "I hate Nebraska" self. I saw that segment late last night - was surprised Mark May was so nice about it. But being an outsider, all he offered for sacrifice was DC Cosgrove, while the rest of Husker Nation is after Stevie P, Businessman Bill, and the rest.
