  1. I love the conference championship games. Normally they are super competitive and very enjoyable to watch. However, I think EVERY conference should have to partake in crowning a champion by having a championship game, otherwise it's not really fair across the board (i.e., see Ohio State). I hope that these games are not discontinued... I don't really think it made the conference look silly, but it did make the BCS look silly (ier). Both Illinois and Kansas got into a BCS Bowl. Who beat both teams? Missouri. Yes, the Big 12 has eaten itself alive as far as making it to National Championships, but that's all part of the game, and that's what makes it so fun to watch (unpredictability).
  2. I agree. If KU has a similar record this year, I will definitely shut my mouth. Until then, I can say that KU will have at least 4 losses this season. Don't get me wrong, KU has a good team...but not as good as many think. They are average. They are not a legitmate 11-1 team (period).
  3. Since when was the triple option NU's "bread and butter?" Why does everyone think that's what Osborne's offense was based on? Yes, they did run the triple option sometimes (usually very successfully), but that wasn't the center of the offense. Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez...
  4. Damn...I wish I had $4,000+ just laying around... You should definitely get those tickets...that's crazy!
  5. Yeah, last time I saw it with Bo it was just called the Nebraska Cornhusker Football Show. I think he may have requested that his name not be in it? Not really sure.
  6. HA! I think the '97 team was right up there too...
  7. FSN is regular TV, isn't it? I Cox, channels 1 - 77 or something like that. Isn't FSN channel 47, or are they talking about a different channel in this article?
  8. Sweet. I was hoping their first game would be on TV. Let's hope they stick with this plan!
  9. Having an "advantage" and "owning" a series are two TOTALLY different things...
  10. Ha! So because the Jayhawks played good the last four years, a "series" should be considered the last 4 years? That's hilarious. A "series" between two teams should be dating back to the very first game played to the last game played between the two teams. The KU vs. NU series dates back to 1892. During that time, the record is in NU's favor, by a very large margin: 88-23-3. And that, my friend, was why I strongly disagreed with the individual writing the article when they said, "Kansas owns this series now..." Ummm...no. Well, maybe if you discount about 70 years worth of Nebraska victories against Kansas, then I guess Kansas could "own" this series. Maybe that's what the writer was doing... What a joke!
  11. I am very happy Will Ferrell isn't for Nebraska. He is annoying. If you have seen one of his movies, you have seen them all because he plays almost the same character in every movie he does. How dull. Do something different Ferrell, then I might care.
  12. No one has seen the "new" Huskers play yet. At least, not all the ones on offense and defense. We saw a mixture of ones and twos during the Spring Game, but that doesn't really prove anything. No matter what, it is my STRONG opinion that in order for the Huskers to be successful next season (meaning a 7-9 win season), they have to be able to run the ball successfully. That's all there is to it. Running the ball will take pressure off Ganz. Running the ball will wear down the other team's D. Running the ball will keep our D off the field. NU's D is still very questionable. Who knows what will happen with them? But if they don't have to be on the field much, they can have some time to figure things out and hopefully by the end of the season, they will have a fairly solid defensive unit.
  13. I would have to agree with you. I was a little worried that we would be losing at least 10 players due to the new coaching staff (i.e., those players who agreed to play for the original staff), but so far we only have had two leave? Wow, I must say that's pretty shocking. Hopefully that's all the transfers there will be.
  14. Okay, the one thing that really annoyed me was the loss to KSU. No way does Nebraska lose to them. KSU is going to be BAD this year...really bad. And I'm thinking he is underestimating Nebraska a little bit, because I don't think Kansas beats us this year either. And Kansas "owns" this series because they beat us one time? Ummm, please review the past 30 years. Thank you!
  15. I wanted Grobe to come in here too, but I support Pelini and he has definitely grown on me. He is a no non-sense kind of guy, and he's just a good guy. Oh, and don't forget he is probably one of the best defensive minds in college football - something Nebraska desparately needed.
  16. Has the White Team's "depth chart" been posted yet? I'm ready to crack some skulls!
  17. I'm more worried about Kansas because Mizzou lost some key players. Rucker is no longer there to bail out Daniels. The running back is gone. And, I believe that I read somewhere that Mr. Daniels has decided to pull a Mo and show up like 25 pounds overweight to training camp. Kind of makes me wonder about his dedication. IMO, the fat man is so far above and beyond pickle in terms of coaching that KU has me much more concerned at this point than Mizzou. Where did you read that Daniels showed up 25 lbs. overweight? Anyway, I hardly think that's relevant considering 25 lbs. could easily be dropped between now and the football season. If you are more worried about Kansas than Mizzou, you're crazy. Kansas had a cake schedule last year. The "okay" teams they faced, they were barely able to beat. The one team that was good, they lost to (Mizzou), and then of course they beat VT. Kansas won't be as good this season, and their win-loss record will reflect this. I am MUCH more worried about Mizzou...
  18. This, my friend, is a good point. All the discipline Bo had done up to this point would be for nothing if they signed on this kid. How could you believe anything a coach said if he said he was serious about discipline, and then he turns around and signs on a kid who is nothing but trouble? Definitely would not be a good situation...
  19. But at least you know NU sucked then and you didn't have that glimmer of hope each week that they would get better, just to have it crushed. I can't remember if this was on TV or not, but I do remember shopping with my wife at Kohl's during the game. Kohl's had the game on (1110 AM), and I remember Jim and company totally bad mouthing NU during a commercial break...a commercial break they accidentally left themselves on air for! HA!
  20. A - Who cares? B - Who cares? C - Who cares? I don't know why everybody cares so much who other fans are saying about NU's fans, and then debating who's the bestest fan of them all. I say... Who cares? I know I love Nebraska football. I know I will read every little article on NU football there is. I know I will watch every NU game I possibly can. I'm not trying to compete with other fans, I'm just very interested and entertained by NU football.
  21. Ha. Yeah, I guess Callahan and Cosgrove didn't get that memo... But in all seriousness, I know Callahan had at least an offensive game plan (most likely a really good one). That you can be sure of. As far as the defense, I'm not really sure. The defense just never really seemed to play as a team, looked confused, and didn't really play with much intensity. Of course, the defense side of my analysis may appear as a generalization - because some players did put forth alot of effort - but it was just hard to watch the defense after the Mizzou game. The lack of intensity could attributed to the fact that the players didn't believe in what they were trying to do or they didn't know what they were trying to do (or perhaps a combination of the two). Just my opinion though...
  22. I think it would be so interesting to watch how Bo (or any coach really) and see how he creates a strategy and gameplan for each of NU's opponents...which is apparently what he will be doing since he can't be involved with recruiting right now.
  23. Hey, don't feel bad. There would need to be about 25 more bowl games added for Baylor to get into one.
