  1. I think it will depend on whether our defense starts playing like they should be capable of playing. Then the O-line needs to get their act together and open some holes and protect Martinez. Burkhead is also a key. But honestly I really think it is going to be up to the defense whether we win the game or not. I expect it to be close if we do.
  2. I would think that tickets would be a cinch to get, with the season that they are *not* having. The only fans of Minnesota will be the die hards, and the ones that want to be a part of history with it being Nebraska's first Big Ten game there. I hope that there is a lot of red in the stands. Wish I could get a load up there....
  3. You might be waiting a long time as not many teams dominate every game from start to finish. You may be very correct. Seems like there is only one or two teams that are dominating each season anymore. I guess I am spoiled...used to the old days when we were one of those teams. Never say never though...but I do have to keep hitting myself in the head and telling myself that this is only a game. Yeah....right.... Still, it frustrates me to no end to play teams that we should run up 50 pts on in the first three quarters, and let them hang around til the 4th quarter. That is not parity, that is just playing down to their level.
  4. I think a lot of the turn around for the defense in the 2d half can be attributted to OSU losing their starting QB and not having a viable backup. I also wonder if we weren't actually better conditioned the OSU and wore them down on both sides of the line in the 2d half? Other than David, I really haven't seen any dominate players. That is not to say that Crick isn't doing the job by tying up 2 players (which should surely free someone else up on our side supposedly - where are they?), but Crick is no Suh.
  5. Not sure how you would call Saturdays game a turning point, when they really were getting their butts handed to them for 2 1/2 quarters. A turning point to me will be when they come out of the tunnel and dominate from the start.
  6. I like Beck better than I liked Watson, hands down. What I still am waiting to see is an offensive line that can do a better job in the first half. They are conditioned, as I do believe that they are wearing down the defenses that we have seen so far, for the most part. But there are no holes like you should expect, especially in the first half. People are getting into our backfield and raising mayhem, making Martinez play playground, and as a result do stupid stuff. No matter how good anyone thinks Martinez is, he cannot be a one man team, and bad mechanics, and the lack of pass protection will not add up to any good results. Burkhead is a stud, and he proves that by getting some results when there are no holes. I would love to see him behind an o-line that actually could open those holes from the start of the game. Other offenses around the country that are successful are NOT waiting until the 2d half to do the job. They come out, and set the tone of the game from the start. We are not going to have a comeback every week in the 2nd half as we did this past week. As far as the defense goes, I am not overly impressed thus far. Nebraska is known for their defenses, and Bo is supposed to be some kind of guru when it comes to defense. So that leaves me to question if the talent is there or not. Other than David, who is the superstar on this defense up to this point, I am disappointed. I thought Crick might be doing more than he has, but I also know that he is getting a lot of attention from other teams. I hate to say it, but if you look at our history, what I am expecting next week against Minnesota is a win, but it won't be by the margin it should be. Seems like we also play down to the competition a lot of the time, and I think that is something that needs to be addressed also. There needs to be a killer instinct, which is not there. Hope they prove me wrong...but I don't expect them to.
  7. thats funny right there i dont care who you are... but Marcia's not laughing I don't think she realized at the time just how much she would be using that nose... That is sooo sooo wrong....
  8. Believe me, Woody, we have had our share of those games.
  9. We need to post people with shot guns at the gates to prevent people from leaving at half time...there is NO excuse for that. That makes us look like band wagon fans at best.
  10. 10/22 @ Minnesota Win, but not by as much as it should be. 10/29 Michigan State Win, but very close 11/05 Northwestern Win, but another close one 11/12 @ Penn State Win, not close 11/19 @ Michigan Huge loss, not even close...blow out Worst game in Big Ten history (short history) for Nebraska 11/25 Iowa Win, but close Regular Season record: 10-2
  11. I don't like the booing, but I can understand why people would be upset with what is going down on the field. This is not what Nebraska fans envision for Husker football. Bo has been here long enough that he has "his guys" on the field, and there should be no excuses for bad play. But I also think that the fans that left the game deserve not getting to see the greatest come back in Husker history. Real fans would have still been there EVEN if there was no turn around in the 2nd half, no matter how bad it was. Husker fans ARE supposed to be some of college footballs best, after all.
  12. Telling someone to go die and accusing them of being a crybaby is not the same. Personally, what turned me off more than the 3 interceptions against Wisconsin was his cry baby attitude afterwards. Just shut up and play the game! Anyone with eyes can see that there is more problems than just Martinez....this O-line is not doing the job. If he would keep his mouth shut, he would have more defenders willing to take a look at the real problems this team has, like the O-line and the defense as a whole. I don't care who is QB, if they aren't going to give him time to throw, the consequences is not going to be good. But that don't mean that he can't still be a leader...suck it up, shut up, and work on the problem harder than working to defend the problem.
  13. I am not ready to eat crow yet, and I hope that in the coming weeks I have to. We can't forget what transpired the first 2 1/2 quarters...that was not pretty. I am hoping that we see a new Taylor Martinez, a real leader that knows to put it out on the field, and keep his mouth shut when it comes to the fans and the press, it doesn't do anything but make him look like a baby. There is still a lot of work to do with the O-line and the defense. A lot of work. The good part, no make that the great part, is that the team and the coaches didn't give up. Most teams probably would have. We at Nebraska have seen it even with Husker teams in the past, where they just melted down and it got really ugly. The shame ball goes to the fans that left the stadium. They deserved missing out on seeing the greatest come back ever in Husker history, and I hope they don't go around claiming to be there just because they have a ticket stub. It would just show the people they really are. They know in their hearts they gave up.
  14. I'm not sure I've heard Taylor whine about anything, but this is about the fourth time in about 20 minutes I've heard you whine about it. So there might be something to it. It is all over the press how the press is out to get him, and he don't care what the fans think...his tweets are all over the place on here, also.
  15. Who is whining to the press? Obviously you didn't listen to his part of the presser after practice, where he accused the press of "gunning" for him anyway....so he didn't care what the fans were saying. Maybe he should care. I am waiting for his daddy to come strolling into Lincoln any day now to meet with the coaches... Aw, come on. Some of this stuff is over the top. I don't think Taylor deserves us being so down about him, especially outside of his on-field performance. Personally, I feel sorry for the kid because he isn't getting any support up front on the field. But the comments he makes, makes it hard not to be hard on the guy. He wanted the position of starting QB, maybe he should start acting like one and quit whining and take some responsibility for his play and his team.
  16. This is a Bo decision, and we all have to live with that. I support Bo, if he says that Martinez is the best we have at this point, so be it. But I think if that is the case, someone needs to sit Martinez down and tell him to "just shut up". I am tired of him sounding like he is whining. Whining sounds like excuses, not a leader taking the bull by the horns and taking some responsibility for himself and his team. I do believe that we need to start trying to work in someone as a backup and get them some experience. I don't know that Martinez isn't heading for a mental meltdown, or he could get hurt again.
  17. This loss is hard to swallow because it was such a blow out, the defense looked 2nd rate and deserved the grade of F on their performance because they looked totally lost, and the offense is woeful to say the least. As far as Martinez goes, I would have a lot more respect for him if he would just shut up and do the job (he is coming off like a little whiner). I would feel bad for any QB of ours right now, because IMHO the O-line is not doing the job. If they were, maybe we wouldn't have to have a QB running around like chicken little, throwing off the wrong foot to the other team. I still say Cotton is where the problem is...and if it don't get any better up front, he needs to pack his bags. If our O-line would do the job, and we could get a QB to settle in, we might have a passing game. Right now as far as running the ball, it is either the playground play of Martinez that works now and then, or it is Burkhead's skill and brut. We have not progressed on offense near far enough, and on defense we are sliding backwards.
  18. OSU is sliding down the slope fast...think we will cover, especially after the thumping we took Saturday. I expect to see some fired up players, and hope the fans took a lesson from Wisconsin fans. They were awesome.
  19. Bo is learning to control his emotions...which is good - in view of the camera's.
  20. You know, if we are like the Wisconsin fans were, the blue hairs will be calling security and trying to get them to shut people up and make them sit down. I was totally impressed with the Wisconsin fans. We should take a lesson.
  22. Maybe Martinez needs to quit worrying about what everyone else is thinking and put some thought into what the sam hill he is doing, or not doing on the field. Get off Twitter, Facebook, or what ever, and get into the playbook and quit crying like a little baby. Personally I question whether he has the leadership skills or the maturity to be a starting QB. And that isn't even talking about his mechanics which totally reek.
