  1. The O rolled with Ganz in there. I'd be shocked if he doesn't start in '08. His arm is average but he knows the system well. Plus his mobility keeps drives going and allows us to run some spread-option stuff. It will be interesting to see if Lee or Witt can get a real leg-up as the heir-apparent.
  2. I never understood why having 1's vs mainly 3's was supposed to be impressive to recruits. Were the kids that clueless? The way I look at it if you won't show the 1's vs 1's you are trying to hide something.
  3. Our D obviously had way more talent than was shown. Unfortunately we lose a ton at db and lb, so it is hard to say how well the D will play in '08. We will obviously improve in a significant way but just how much is hard to say. Our O has plenty of talent. It will be interesting to see who steps-up as a big-play complement to Swift and at TE. I think Paul will fill the other starter's spot. Hopefully that JUCO we just signed at TE can give us the consistent producer we've lacked since Herian got hurt.
  4. The O rolled once Ganz finally got his shot. We lost some playmaking at wr(hopefully Paul or whomever can step-up as a complement for Swift)but we have everbody at rb back and most of the o-line in when the O was rolling are back. I look for the O and Ganz to have a big year, he doesn't have a big arm but he knows the system and gives us a running-threat that keeps drives going. I'm interested to see if Lee or Witt can establish himself as the heir-apparent. But I don't see either seriously challenging Ganz though. Geez, never thought I'd be talking-up Ganz but you can't argue with the results seen
  5. That was a classless move by Prince. He is selling-out to win and keep his job in '08. Glad a team I like better got the kid.
  6. If we had any D we'd have beaten CU, in '08 we will have a D(not great but respectable) and the game will be in Lincoln. Ganz will have a year of starting under his belt. We should beat the buffs in a tough game. But the sched is hard. From Va Tech on we are looking at a lot of dogfights with Baylor in Lincoln being the only reprieve. I think we have a good shot at 8-4. The Va Tech, Mizzou, @ Tech string will be key. Gotta win at least one of those, two would be good, all three would be incredible. I think we'll have a lot of close ones, depends on how those shake-out. A few scores can be the difference between 9-3 and 6-6.
  7. Maybe we'll get another shot at him. He'll be redshirting this year and when he is done Lucky, Wilson, and Glenn would be gone. Watson likes power-runners.
  8. The athletic dept has no money? Didn't Chizik only take the job because ISU said they were upgrading the program? Kinda sucks since I do like ISU.
  9. I didn't know about the reserve-seating. Looks like endzone seats and watching half the game on the bigscreen for me.
  10. Somebody needs to step-up as a big-play complement to Swift in-order for this O to roll. My guess it would be Paul. I'm interested in what happens at TE, we need to start getting some real production out of this position.
  11. A Duke-education is a great thing to fall-back on if you don't make it to the next level. I'm surprised he made this decision but it does make some sense.
  12. Ferentz, a freaking millionaire, having a kid in tax-supported housing is just nuts. Gotta question anyone who'd do that. Dude is making 3million-per for meh seasons, he feels the need to squeeze even more out of Iowans? Nice.
  13. Our O was rolling under Ganz, no point in throwing that out the window. We'll just tweak it with a more physical running-game and some spread-option elements. As long as one of the youngsters at wr can step-up as a big-play complement for Swift we should have a nasty offense in '08.
  14. If somebody can establish himself as a big-play complement to Swift then Ganz should have a big year.
  15. I would say the Alamo. It is a solid bowl, making it would be a big step in the right direction.
  16. Hawaii would be a good gig for him. Maybe he could be UCLA's new OC.
  17. I would certainly hope they are going back to the 1's vs 1's, 2's vs 2's format. I wouldn't mind a night-game.
  18. Certainly not a wow hire. I'd rather have Bailey back. But the lack of name doesn't mean it is a bad hire. I would think some folks in-the-know must respect the guy. Has he been hired or is he just a candidate? Considering the immense legacy of husker S&C I'm surprised to see a guy with no husker-ties. I'm sure there are some very qualified husker-trained guys that would kill for the job.
  19. 1. Cody redshirted, he was not rushed into service, and that was with Jackson at qb in '06. Jackson had no more business at qb than Jammal Lord. Ganz is way better than Jackson, why rush Witt/Lee? 2. CU was working with the results of the date-rape scandal classes, Hawkins might as well have used youngsters. We had solid classes and have more to work with than Hawkins did when he came in. We have significantly more talent on-hand than CU did when Hawkins took-over. That comparison doesn't work, the coaches were in two different situations.
  20. Jocking the Neuheisel-hire lost me. Neuheisel is soft and UCLA will win a decent amount of games but be soft in the clutch with him as coach. I seriously doubt USC is sweating that hire. I think they'd have sweated Leach or June Jones, especially if they kept DeWayne Walker at DC or used their newfound budget to bring in an ace-DC from elsewhere. I see UCLA getting over the .500-mark but not making a national-splash under Neuheisel.
  21. Bo already said we aren't scrapping the offense. That isn't getting rebuilt, just augmented and tweaked. Ganz would be considered a returning starter if BC wasn't so stubborn and Ganz got his shot back during the Mizzou and/or OSU games. As is he still has been around a lot and has a few starts under his belt. He is the right guy to get things going. Bo also already said we aren't going into '08 with a rebuilding mentality we are looking to win. Ganz is the guy if we want to win. Bo would be hard-pressed to keep this team on his side if he went back on his word and just started playing guys for the future. We have the talent to make a statement in '08, and that statement shouldn't be "hey we suck, you can play right-away".
  22. not really, although S and C help, playing technique and desire are the tangibles that get results. I disagree. S&C affects every player on the team, both sides of the ball plus special-teams. That is a big impact when you look at the cumulative effect.
  23. What was your biggest complaints about him? What sport did you participate in? edit: I guess that last question is kind of dumb considering your name on the board The sport? you got it....as for the complaint...it was a combination. I came to NU at semester a couple of years ago, and within the first week I was there, I got yelled out in front of everybody twice! It really tainted my impression of the guy. I have never spoke to the guy except the two times. People will say that he "coached" everybody, that is a lie. He only worked with Football and only football. I have talked with several players who weren't fond of him as well (football players). His was also very disconnected with his staff in the weightroom (laura, fish, brian, and mike) Sounds par for the course for the last four years. So glad that era is over and we will have a first-rate S&C program again.
  24. Unless he just likes Bo that much I don't see why this guy would be coming. Would he be getting "running-game coordinator' designation and/or be a future replacement for Watson? If it is this Drayton why can't he be named now? Florida isn't playing for high stakes and they'd beat Mich with Elmer Fudd at rb-coach. At this point I can see him finishing the bowl. The dead-period is going anyway. But why the secrecy?
  25. I think the grade was a little low but I can see their point. I would've leaned towards hiring a proven winner at HC as-well. Like they said we are Nebraska. If we were a Washington State Bo's hiring would have gotten a better grade. I like Bo and think he can do nice things for us. I think we will win with him but you haven't done it til you've done it. They think we should've hired a guy that has done it. I can understand that.
