  1. QFT. If the Huskers are as fit as they're saying, we could be putting a serious hurt on some less-fit teams. We used to pummel people so badly in the 80s and 90s they'd be sore for two more games after we played. Kids got injured against us, too, and that always sucked.
  2. I have a family reunion to go to on 9/5, otherwise I'd love to go. I've got tickets available for game #2, but I'm not sure if I'll go or throw a PPV party. We'll see. I'm not even going to try to get tickets to Louisiana-Lafayette since it'll be a blowout and tickets will be way overpriced because of #300.
  3. I've made my apologies to those I offended, and I'm not going to derail these threads any more with my nonsense. I'm not as funny as I think I am sometimes. Comedy is best left to the professionals. Please forget that I was a goofball in this and the other thread.
  4. A senior like Dillard, with all his potential, is exactly what the LB corps needs in a leader. The guy's contribution to this team will be incalculable if this is all coming together like it seems.
  5. Man, I hope so. If this isn't all just talk, if the DBs really are getting it so much better than before, this whole defensive unit could take a giant leap forward. I would be really happy about that.
  6. NU TEs are not as big as the OU, USC or old CU TEs. They don't need to be as big, they need to catch the ball. Or, "It's not the size, it's how you use it." TE is one area of the field where I have zero concern. We have more weapons than spots on the field at TE. And to expound on HuskerRob's comments about WR - I mentioned something about this yesterday, about how Swift and Peterson were good WRs and gave everything they could to the team, but they simply weren't as talented as many others out there. We have a lot of potential at WR this year, lots of untapped talent. The big "if" is, can they realize that potential? If they do, look out.
  7. I think the big reason they didn't get them for so long last year was they weren't committed to Bo's system yet. Too much to unlearn, too many bad habits to overcome. Once they figured it out, they got the 'shirts. If they're working as hard as the staff is saying, I'd be surprised if they don't have them 1) right now or 2) before the FAU game. I don't think it's going to be several games into the season like last year. It's hard to imagine a scenario where Suh doesn't have his before the season starts.
  8. I've never paid $5, but I've been able to get tickets from fans every time I've tried. Maybe you have to show a little leg to get the $5 tickets? I'll try that, if it helps. I've gotten tickets to several games just by walking through tailgates. I have a lot of luck at the Touchdown Club across the street from the stadium, and in the overpass lot as well. And the great thing is, they don't scalp the ticket, they're just trying to get rid of them. I don't think I've ever paid more than face value for a ticket.
  9. Jayhawker, I have a six-year-old girl, too. I know exactly what you mean when you say she's set in her ways. =)
  10. I eagerly await the Pope's input here, since the other thread was mysteriously locked after a very snippy reply.
  11. It's a roster issue. They can only have 105 guys on roster. If he's hurt it's not worth putting him on the roster when you've got half a bazillion walk-ons looking for a spot.
  12. It's a great idea, as long as she's on board with it. I think the fans will get a kick out of it.
  13. Quick update from Brian Rosenthal's article HERE: When QBs compete for a starting spot, the team wins.
  14. Of the many Husker fans I personally know, I'm the one least underestimating the Jayhawks. I will (and have, right here on these boards) fully admit they could beat us in Lawrence this year. They have a good team. Not once will you see me detract from Reesing, Meier, Sharp or Briscoe. These are talented players. Mangino is a good coach. Kansas is a good team. But I have a good idea what they are. And I have a good idea what the Huskers are. And from what I know of both teams, I'm fairly confident in saying that game in Lawrence is in no way a sure win for the Jayhawks. I feel confident that the Huskers can win this game. I don't know how to say it more plainly than that.
  15. 1) She was making a joke. You're still riled by the disrespect from some others, but this was (I'm pretty sure) supposed to be somewhat funny. 2) Nebraska is no longer a right wing bastion. Gallup's latest shows we're a battlground state, leaning left. In context for Nebraska, that means we're flaming liberals. Nebraska is by no means a battleground state. Omaha? Maybe. The rest of the state? Absolutely not. Considering that Omaha comprises 1/4 of the state's population, while the Metro area makes up about 1/2, I'd say the way Omaha votes is pretty important. Omaha and Lincoln combine for roughly half the state's population, and both now lean liberal. But don't just believe me, and don't just believe Gallup, look at the fact that for the first time in history Nebraska split their Electoral votes in the 2008 election. Nebraska is by every means a battleground state.
  16. Unless you're 1) in the coaches offices during recruiting, 2) an assistant in the offices during recruiting or 3) a kid actually being recruited by these coaches, you have nothing other than your very unqualified opinion with which to label this staff as "complacent." Unless you have some qualifications people here don't know about, you're pretty much Joe on the Street with pretty much no idea what you're talking about. For all we know, you could be the Pope. Just sayin.
  17. Our Kansas friends have some really rosy glasses through which they view last year's game. Kansas earned a mere 28 points in the game, against a defense still learning the system. The garbage-time touchdown scored with two minutes to play makes them feel better about the outcome, but it was still a ten-point loss against a learning defense. I dig the optimism, I really do. I like the Jayhawks and really think they've got a good team. But let's not lose touch with what really happened last year.
  18. The World Herald mentioned that his knee is still bothering him, but it didn't sound like a big deal.
  19. It bears mentioning that Swift and Peterson probably aren't starters on half of the teams in the Big XII. We all love these guys but they weren't SO loaded with talent that they cannot be replaced. Like Zac Taylor and Ganzy, these guys were gamers. If we can replace gamers with talent, that's a step up. I'm cautiously optimistic about the WR position this year. There are some familiar names who could produce (Meno Holt and Niles Paul), but we're hearing plenty about other guys (Curenski Gilleylen, Bryan Kinnie and Antonio Bell) who might step up as well, and whom the coaches think may be playmakers. All things considered, I don't think we're going to have a big dropoff in the passing game.
  20. Because we did it the previous 40 years, which has as much relevance as the last two trips we made to Lawrence this year. Did you watch last year's game? Did you see Reesing put on his butt over and over, unable to outrun our defensive linemen? Our D-Line stands to be better this year than last year, and your O-Line looks to be worse. I appreciate your optimism, but let's not forget - you were down 17 points with two minutes to go last year and scored a garbage time TD to cut the margin to ten points. The score doesn't reflect the domination we put on you guys. The game wasn't close.
  21. Wow! A North Dakota fan! Go Bison, yeah? OK, just kidding. I get where you're coming from about Penn State. But they have a good set of replacements coming in, so it's not a terrible spot for them. Bottom line, outside of Florida, Texas, Oklahoma and USC (and maybe not even USC) everyone has enough questions at this point in the season that this is just a huge mess.
  22. IT'S NOT ENOUGH!! DO YOU HEAR ME!?!!!????!?!???!!!!??? IT! IS! NOT! ENOUGH!!!!!! If we're not aligned in a harmonious convergence with USC, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma and LSU, we might as well give up football. Forever. Because without that kind of class THIS YEAR, we will never, ever, ever win anything ever again. Ever. May God have mercy on our souls.
