  1. Only been to one road game myself. Iowa, 2016. Cold. We sucked. Nobody talked to us. Couldn't wait to get out of there.
  2. Wasn't Farmer on the sidelines the last drive or two against Troy? Never heard anything, but it was definitely him walking the sidelines during a critical 3rd down (last or second to last drive).
  3. I don't like the timing of the decision by Gebbia, but really, he didn't have much of a choice, with the competition coming down to the wire, a week before game one. He had to make a tough decision, a decision that was probably made weeks, or months, ago. If he made the cut and got the start, he'd stick it out this season. If he didn't, he'd transfer and hopefully get lucky enough to play somewhere for three years.
  4. I think Ziebol said above, the QB room for 2019: Martinez Vedral Bunch Masker McCaffrey I don't think we need another QB in the class. I think Mavric suggested earlier that one QB a class should be good going forward. I think he's right. Especially with '19 and '20 locked down already.
  5. Gebbia truly believed he had a decent shot at the job. You could tell by some of his runs during scrimmages, he wanted to impress his coaches. Show them he wasn't just a pocket guy. But, it also appears he had a contingency plan in case it didn't work out that way. You can't believe for a second the staff led him on during all this. Was given every shot that Martinez was.
  6. I'm sure Gebbia has some NFL aspirations, but for now, I bet he just wants to play college football.
  7. I'm going off of Frost's frequently stated requirements for his QB. Quick thinker. And then going off of Moraine's comment above about the only QB comments by Coach being relatively negative about Martinez. Just not quite getting it yet. Not fast enough yet. Those two things have me thinking it's Gebbia. I'll be happy with either as well. Trust this staff too. We're in good hands.
  8. Being the future and starting day one are two entirely different things, with very different reasons. I don't get the feeling this staff sees this season as a "free pass". That's basically suggesting they're forfeiting a play/game/season here or there. I don't see that from this staff. They're going to put their best players in the best situations to win each and every drive in each and every game. At the moment, obviously just another guy's opinion, I believe Gebbia has a better, faster, grasp on the offense. Can run it smoother than any other QB we have*, including Martinez. Martinez will grasp it eventually, but that takes time. Gebbia will help us win games now. Martinez will help us win games in the future. Possibly the very near future. But we're talking first snap here. *edit, suppose Vedral might have an equal or better grasp of the offense, so should have put any other eligible QB we have...
  9. Ever since I heard Coach emphasize how important being a quick thinker was for his offense, I've felt it was going to be Gebbia. I do believe we'll see Martinez at some point this season, but think Gebbia will be running the show as long as he's healthy. I can see this flip flop next season as it becomes easier for Martinez to process things quickly.
  10. I went to school with a guy who works at the Omaha Cigar Co., so I'll swing by there sometime. Seems to take his cigars pretty seriously.
  11. I've gotten into cigars over the past few months or so. Still don't know very much, so I'm going to start getting samplers from Holts off and on. Smoke maybe two a month. I got a humidor and a few E.P. Carrillo cigars as a gift. I liked these a lot, so I'll order those some time, but want to try a few others first. I bought a small pack of Montecristo Robustos. They're ok, but I struggled to smoke them entirely. Because of this I bought a Nub sampler. I still have some of these left. They were just ok as well, but because they're shorter, they seemed to heat up much faster than longer cigars. I just bought a pack of Alec Bradley American Classic Robustos and they look really good, plus read good things about their brand. It was educational reading through the posts in this thread. Thanks NUance.
  12. In case you hadn't heard/read Carriker's Chronicles with Jackson... https://www.omaha.com/huskers/carriker/carriker-chronicles-damian-jackson-on-playing-for-the-huskers-his/article_5ec7e414-e2a4-5c44-af7a-14a3e30886d4.html
  13. 09/01 - Akron W 09/08 - Colorado W 09/15 - Troy W 09/22 - @ Michigan L 09/29 - Purdue W 10/06 - @ Wisconsin L 10/13 - @ Northwestern W 10/20 - Minnesota W 11/03 - @ Ohio State L 11/10 - Illinois W 11/17 - Michigan State L 11/23 - @ Iowa W I didn't think I'd get 8 wins. Thought I'd get 6 or 7. Can't overlook Colorado (we won't) or Troy (we might). I think Purdue is on the rise, and being an early game, could slip up and lose that one. I can see Northwestern and Minny being close, but I think the offense will really be clicking by then and we manage to win these two. If we only win 6 games, it's probably these two that get us. Ohio State will be just too talented to get over this year. I think MSU is underrated this year. They are bringing most of their starters back. If that weren't the case, might consider this one a close game to go either way. I think Iowa will be close this year, but I think our late season momentum, as conditioning and optimism settle in, beats them.
  14. That many tackles at his position and size doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but I think it does speak to his athleticism.
  15. For what it's worth, the pants are for his security officers, not for Pruitt. Silly excessive on all levels though.
  16. Actually, there are very specific rules spelled out in the CFR, Chapter 40. Huge fines are levied on violators of these rules every day.
  17. Always buy max number of tickets every year. Happy to hear we'll sell it out this year, but disappointed I won't be one of them. Tried like hell, calling and online since 10.
