  1. If he would have done the bolded, he couldn't hire an agent. By doing what he did, he more than likely does have an agent that is working to make sure he isn't just a top 5 pick but the overall number 1 pick.
  2. I think people are reading too much into the bolded. Let's be honest here, Bosa is a top 5 pick in the draft. His stock wasn't going any higher if he stayed. If you're not going to pay college athletes, then you shouldn't be surprised when they leave early considering the money that is at stake.
  3. I think it says more than just for the bolded. You could easily have chosen to include Bo as well.
  4. I don't think a 5-7 team the year before starts the next season ranked. Michigan State plays Ohio State before us. It's quite likely when we play them they are unranked. Iowa is on a two game skid. It's also likely they lose to Northwestern before we play. It's a toss up whether they'll be ranked or not. We're 2-7 with Minnesota really being the only win we can hang our hat onto who just got obliterated by Illinois this past weekend.
  5. If you go back and look at the recruiting classes that led up to our run under TO, you will see they were made up of recruiting classes that ranked lower than what John Cooper was bringing into Ohio State. It's one of the reasons Cooper was fired because he couldn't win the big games even though he had more talent. If we couldn't out recruit them then, what makes you think we ever consistently will?
  6. This is why I've always been puzzled as to why Gebbia stuck around for so long. Even had he been named the starter, it was just a matter of time (possibly a game or two) before Martinez became the starter. I've never understood why he didn't transfer out sooner?
  7. I'll give you that nobody could have expected he wouldn't even make contact. However, there are multiple things that need to happen for an onside kick to be successful. First, he has to get it 10 yards down the field. Then, he has to keep it inbounds. Finally, one of our guys has to come up with the ball. I just think running an onside kick with Lightbourn given his struggles throughout the season was ill advised. The play would have been just about as disastrous had he simply just kicked it out of bounds.
  8. Time will tell if it's a down year. They play two good teams and one poor team the rest of the way. The year they won the NC they lost at home by 14 to unranked Va Tech. With as much of the season they have left to play, they might still be a playoff team.
  9. The only problem I had with the call was the one who they were trusting to make the play. For as many games as Lightbourn was the starting punter, I can only assume he was doing a good job and having enough success in practice. When it became apparent that practice play was quite a bit different than game play, he lost his punting duties. So now, we have the exact same player and expected a different outcome. Don't get me wrong, under normal circumstances I loved the call as well. I just thought it was very ill advised running it with Mr. Practice.
  10. It's like you read my mind. When I came into this thread, the one game where I thought we'd slip up was Michigan State. It wouldn't shock me at all if we beat Iowa like a drum.
  11. The most frustrating thing the last 14 seasons has been the OL play. I have never thought it was a lack of talent either. For an OL to be effective, all five players have to do their job at the same time. What I have seen is maybe four players doing their job while the fifth screws up. This is what has made the OL look so bad for so long. And, it's not always the same guy screwing up. It just seems it's a different guy missing his assignment on most plays that yield in losses. Our OL hasn't played as a team for a very long time. While this year didn't start out any differently, I can see the OL play has improved a ton as the season has gone on. I had no idea when the season started what to expect for wins and losses. The one thing I wanted to see is happening. We're getting better and better each week. At the end of the season, we will be a completely different team that where we started. Someone brought it up in another thread how nobody has mentioned lately if last year's team could beat this year's team. Early in the season, the 17' team would have beaten this team. Today, the 18' team would dominate the 17' team. While our record won't show it, we might very well be one of the top three to four best teams in the B1G at season's end.
  12. The bolded really wasn't implied at all. The 94' NC team wasn't built with top 5 or even top 10 recruiting classes. A good/great coach will have teams performing above their class rankings which is what TO did. Clownahan and Riley coached teams that were worse than their recruiting class rankings. Bo pretty much coached teams to perform on par with their recruiting class rankings. I know a lot of fans are excited and believe Frost is going to bring in a bunch of top 10 recruiting classes. I don't see this as being the case. I see us bringing in a bunch of 11-25 ranked recruiting classes with an occasional top 10. However, I see him doing much more with the talent he brings in than the three previous coaching staffs.
  13. Urban Meyer is the best thing to happen to this conference for a long, long while. Since his arrival, competition has gotten better and coaching has gotten better. I just hope when he's done at Ohio State that he leaves that program in better shape than he did Florida.
  14. Unless the wheels really have fallen off at Ohio State, this looks like an attractive spread.
  15. The names I keep reading are Josh McDaniels, Lincoln Riley, and Dabo Sweeney. Personally, I doubt it's any of those guys. Lincoln Riley more than likely lands at the Cowboys or stays put. Dabo's got a great thing going at Clemson, and most people think Bama eventually comes calling when Saban retires. Josh McDaniels is just a hot mess especially after what he pulled on the Colts.
  16. I will be surprised if he leaves because of #1. If they win it all with the youth they have this year, I see him being there for at least a couple more seasons. If #2 becomes a reality, yeah he's probably gone. The better question is does he leave Ohio State in as big of a mess as he did Florida once he does leave?
  17. So, how does the missing class thing work? I had classes while I was at UNL where there was 300+ in the class. We didn't have to sign in or anything, so who would know and how if they missed a class of this size?
  18. Barry hit the nail on the head. Ohio State is going to come out swinging both hard and fast. If we respond, we have a punchers chance. If we don't, we'll get buried and the game will be over by halftime.
  19. The biggest concern for me is how Ohio State has responded in the past under Meyer following a loss. Then, you throw in a bye week. Plus, they are still in contention for a playoff spot. Add it all together, and it leaves little doubt we'll get their best shot. This game could get ugly very fast if our O and D isn't hitting on all cylinders from the opening kickoff.
  20. I think the question being asked is using the wrong coaches. Clownahan's final season was really similar to Riley's final season. Therefore, the question should have been would Bo have survived past season one if he started 0-6? The answer would be yes.
  21. You do realize he wasn't talking about the past right? If all we're striving for is winning the division, we should have stayed in the Big 12 and kept Bo as our coach.
  22. Compare their last four recruiting classes to our last four recruiting classes. Do you see a difference? Hence the reason I said in the near future. I have my doubts when looking at an entire five year span we ever have higher rated classes than the three teams you just mentioned. Once in a while, we might very well get a higher rated class than one of those three teams, but I highly doubt we do it consistently. Frost and staff are going to have to be more creative than the teams you listed for us to be competitive. They are going to have to get recruits that match their scheme and are willing to out work the competition.
  23. I'm just not sure the bolded is possible especially in the near term. There are 14 teams in the B1G.
  24. If the offense starts fast, we win this game. Sometime in the near future, all of those offensive yards are going to translate into points. Once they do, the opposing teams had better look out. If this team gets on a run, we'll be hard to stop.
  25. I've watched that play over and over, and I'm still not sure what to make of it. While I realize the defender can bump or jam a receiver within five yards of the line of scrimmage, this typically applies at the beginning of the play. In the play shown in the video, the contact was made within five yards of the line of scrimmage but was long after the play began. It appears the defender also led with his helmet. Unnecessary roughness could have been called. What is so stupid about this play is the defender should have just held back baiting Martinez to check down to the RB because there were three defenders there ready to pounce.
