  1. Absolutely! I was thoroughly disappointed when miles kept he and fuller on the bench so long to end the game. Right when we started to slide he needed to pull Pettaway and Benny and put Fuller and Smith in. Pettaway is going to have to get over the fact that he thinks he is the best thing since fried rice. Standing with the ball in your hands until the clock is damn near to 10 sec is a bunch of crap. Move the ball east and west more like we did in the second half. You have to move just can't stand around.
  2. Again, I fully understand the importance of a big man. I consider myself well-versed in basketball, and in his original post he stated the role of a big man in a dribble-drive scenario is to " open the lane for them for a layup ".... That's just wrong. One of the reasons (not the only one) the Cavs didn't win the title the year they had Lebron, and Shaq is because Shaq's big ass was in the lane preventing Lebron from doing what he does best... Penetrating the paint, and getting to the rim. It's actually of the utmost importance to get the big man out of the lane in a dribble-drive situation, that's why that position (Center, Power Forward) is almost always the position that sets the ball screen. ---- And by "getting the big man out of the lane" I don't mean make him stand behind the 3 pt. line, I just mean to get out of the paint.... Standing there waiting for a putback is not an offense.... Understood. I took what he was saying as having a big man who can stay in the lane till the drive happens. Obviously if you are a 7'1 320 pounder standing in the lane with a 7'0 290 guy guarding you, you arent giving your guy much space to get to the hoop. Having a big man down there and then get out of the way, drawing defense with him, opens up that drive. Exactly. Just cause he moves out of the box or to the back side or high post still puts him position to make a play on the rebound. Yes I am very well versed in B Ball and yes that is also basketball well...probably junior high. You have to move, anyway there is more than one way to play the game and of course you have to use the talent on the court correctly and unfortunately we don't have a big that can pop out and hit a 15 foot jumper and would be worthless out there considering he would then be out of position for a put back or just a rebound.
  3. http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2015/01/top_te_target_chris_clark_talk.html And Marrow ended up staying at UK. So, let me get this straight. Morrow, talked to this kid over Twitter while he is still employed at Kentucky and talked to him about possibly going to Michigan if he goes there to coach. So, recruiting for Michigan while employed at Kentucky. If true, this guy is the slime ball I thought he was. Just got a raise and a 3 year extension from Kentucky so........ That's fine. That's how coaches get raises. But, you contact recruits for your next job while you are still employed and getting paid by your current job? That's slime ball right there. Didn't he do the same thing when he didn't get offered a full time position at Nebraska?
  4. Technically speaking, dribble penetration would be much easier without a big man in the lane ( or in the way).... The key to getting into the lane via the dribble is to stretch the floor. Your traditional big men, like the one's we are lacking, won't do that.... Big men to "open the lane for a layup" isn't something I've heard discussed in basketball circles. Sorry but I totally disagree. We need someone in there to clear the lane and rub off the defender. We don't have a good enough pg to just clear out and win one on one. Missed layups and whining about contact is a huge factor there as well. Also when we do miss we have someone there to rebound, and if they start making the put backs they eventually sag making it easier for the shooters to get a good open look in rythem which they need badly. We don't have a true set shooter with Walter stinking it up right now. We are just way to easy to defend without a big in the game.
  5. Our biggest threat on offense last years and this year is dribble penetration. Without the bigs it makes it very difficult. You don't have anyone there to open the lane for them for a layup or the kickout which we haven't had this year. Pitchford isn't that guy in the middle and never will be. It will get better after we get one of them back. As far as Miles he needs to figure out something which coach k would have a hard time doing.
  6. Well maybe thhis coach will offer thhe Dline talent that we let go to othher D1 programs in the future. Two for sure are getting meaningful snaps or are starting. Thhat seems a little baffling to me.
  7. Easy.... Neither has proven anything to this point. I have seen enough of CC to know that he has some really good talent and was idiodically under utilized under thhe previous staff. That will change, as it should/needs to.
  8. there seems to be alot of Bo Pelini type of bagage that follows Harbaugh. Sam McKeon had a link on twitter last night that I have to find that explains all the crazy paranoid types of the things hthhat he does. I was saying that I would love to see him here at Nebraska bbut after reading that no thanks. And yes I realize that he would have never came to NU being a Meechicken Alum.
  9. You demand that they handle things the way that you want them to, and when they don't you drag them through the mud and are glad to see them no longer part of 'your' team. What's really unfair is that some people are throwing so much fault at Kenny, even though they're also throwing all the fault at Bo. If Bo was as awful as people say, then any shortcomings that people hypothetically associate with Kenny were a product of a toxic environment, which was hardly his fault. I for one think that the toxic environment was way worse than the last audio that came out. Feel bad for the players and the new staff, because the brain washing will be tough to reverse.
  10. He is not an embarrassment to NU, he no longer plays here. He is now an embarrassment to the Lions and the NFL. Lmao. He is not a thug. He is emotional, and has a temper, but a thug come on! I really don't think that he should have been suspended, and what was funny to me watching the game and seeing it live was he got blocked back into him and he stepped back stepped down and walked off. When they replay it in SLOW MOTION a dozen times and keep saying how long he stayed on him and how he didn't jump off quickly well I can see how some would get it in their heads that it was egregious. He got suspended because of his past and Raiola's stomp.
  11. His throwing motion is better, but I'd still take Martinez as my QB ahead of Armstrong... Athletically they are on the same level I think. Martinez is faster but Armstrong is stronger. And both had one same quality that most of the leaders on this team had, and that is none of them are mentally tough enough. The sad part is, is that the coaches instilled this mentality into them and now the new staff has to some how reverse it. I really think all of them will start from square one to see who really can come in and lead in all facets of the game. This didn't happen with the previous staff. That was extremely obvious with the latest audio of Bo's brain washing coaching style.
  12. Nah! This Sucks for us right now but we will find out in a few years how bad. Good luck to him.
  13. He is what we need even if Smith was healthy. We need an athletic big that can also get physical. Smith and Abraham are very physical but not that athletic. Next year would be super with what we have coming in!!
  14. I think we have a few QB's on the team right now that will be exactly what most are saying about a QB that passes but also can run. We needed someone that can develop them we just didn't have that before. There aren't very many high school QB's that are ready to go from day 1. Hopefully this staff will get that part accomplished real soon.
  15. To the OP. No this is what you want and maybe some other fans want. That is not what is necessarily best for the program or the coaching staff. He has to have guys he can trust and are going to be all in for his coaching style. Way to early to judge this guy at all.
  16. It is amazing to me how bad the media, recruiting services, etc. have screwed the pooch in this whole transition. And it all started last year when they all were reporting that Bo was going to be fired. Hell it was so bad that even Bo believed it. Also, I think people are pretty funny. Just because it is really easy to get your voice out in the world of social media doesn't mean you know more than the people doing the actual job.
  17. After last night I agree. I guess I just don't get it anymore.
  18. That game was brutal to watch. The best team didn't win as I was not impressed with Creighton either. Whatever is going on with the players they need to get over it and play together. Also I did see that Parker had a hamstring injury towards the end of the week. That definitely hurt us and explained why he was going out all the time. Webster needs to get better on D and on O but his out of positioning killed us in this game. Pitchford holy crap dude you have to get a little physical don't you?
  19. I didn't read all of this thread so sorry if this was stated already. But, I think there was a lot revealed in this press conference. Just like the one that SE had Sunday. SE on Sunday said that we have the resources to bring in great coaches. But he also said that spending a lot of money on a coach doesn't always translate into wins. And it isn't always about wins and loss's but about what you have done overall with where you are. These statements are very telling as far as this hire. Today I think he did a great job and I think he will be good. I liked how he said that he wants experts at the position they're coaching. How many of our current coaches are experts at the position they are coaching. Some maybe but not all that's for damn sure. Kind of telling who might or has a chance to stay on and who isn't for sure. Also the comment about not knowing them could be that they are not big coaching names, and/or knows of them but doesn't personally know them. he definitely got his one liners in that's for sure. I thought he did really well.
  20. I think Armstrong might be alright if he lets him coach him. But yeah I would say Stanton has to be happy with this hire.
  21. Kaz would be really dumb not to want to have the opportunity to coach with Coach O if that in fact is true.
  22. I think we could keep Garrison and Kaz (If he is over whatever happened with him) Brown would be good too maybe Rb's and Returners he has a way of getting kids to buy in and believe. We really need a Great LB's and db's coach. Frost would be a great OC obviously but I think Riley is probably competent enough to bring in someone great there as well.
  23. Everyone or most everyone was talking about getting a true CEO of the business. Isnt this what we got? We all need to wait and see what he brings to the table. The hiring isn't finished yet.
  24. Yeah you can see on the football field that he likes to cause problems with his mouth, but sometimes that can be good.... just not in the way he did today
