  1. It's all speculation at this point, and I imagine no one wants to see him leave. I was just curiuos about his potential. Is your coach leaving? Wyoming's current coach has been on the hot seat for a long time now, many think he won't survive after this season.
  2. KSU, CU, a Bowl game......Did I miss one?
  3. Out of Staters: Where do you currently live? Westchester County, NY Where have you lived the longest? Atlantic, IA Where has been your favorite place to live/visit? Live: I liked them all but I guess I will say Austin, TX area was pretty cool. Visit: Brasil was awesome! Where is your ideal place to live? I like NY and NYC, but I think HI would be pretty cool Work: What is your current occupation? Procurement What has been your best job ever? Scout and Tank Platoon Leader in the Army Worst job? None, I have liked what I have done thus far Dream job? Coach of a sports team Hobbies: What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Playing with my two children, watching sporting events, reading, working out, playing PS3 Strangest/most interesting hobby, skill or personal anecdote? My wife says I spend way too much time watching Football and Baseball
  4. Not sure who's job he takes. Or for what position. Maybe QB coach? I know you are suggesting him as a recruiting expert more than an "active" part of the staff, but I don't know that he would be interested in that so what positions group is he most qualified to coach? From what I recall he runs a traditional west coast offense, while Nebraska has been moving to a simplified multiple version of the WCO with an eventual goal of being a power run team. Was he an OC before he was head coach? What'd he do before Stanford? I think with TO and Cotton around, Bo has enough former head coaches providing guidance. That's not to say hiring guys who flame out as head coach for assistants jobs is a bad idea. Just not sure there is a fit here especially since I don't know of any connection between him and anyone else on the staff which is usually how these kind of hires are made. You usually pick the guys you know. I think it also depends on the staff stability going into next year. Sounds like it should be intact as of right now, but there are rumors Bo wants to make a few changes. If this is true openings need to be filled. If Willingham is a fit, then get him.
  5. With MU losing 2 QB's, you think they will still be on top of the North? I'll give this a shot... 1. Kansas - Reesing gives the edge to KU 2. Nebraska - QB play will determine where we are at 3. Missouri - Too much talent leaving, but will still be strong 4. Iowa State - They have to win sooner or later 5. Colorado - Just because i don't like them 6. KSUcks - They are a mess Just my 0.02 Actually I think that Missouri and NU will be tied atop the North with the winner of our game deciding who goes to the championship game. Colorado will be better than Kansas next season because I think Reesing is the only thing keeping that team up there right now and Colorado is very young right now and has alot of injuries. Kansas should be favored going into next season. I think KU may very well be favored by the prognosticators going into next year. I don't fully buy it though. I think the race will be a very interesting one between KU, MU, and NU. MU and NU have to break in new QB's and that is why the early prediction nod will go to KU, Reesing is a stud. However I think that NU looks to be better all across the board next year. MU looks like they might have the beginnings of being able to simply reload and not rebuild, I have said before that next year will really do more to tell us how good of a job Pinkle is really doing there. I don't think KU and MU fans fully appreciate the level of talent increase NU will have next year, I give the edge to NU but I am a homer and I do love the Koolaid!!!
  6. Except that is not the Husker way. Bo is making up a whole new tradition as he goes. You can call it what you want, but the Blackshirt tradition as we knew it is dead.
  7. Not sure you can draw that conclusion rgding my sig. I refer you to the 'landmark win' thread... If you do not see the irony of a Husker fan feeling the need to post the score from a 10 point home win over the Jayhawks, then there is little to discuss. I definately see the irony. Funny I guess the way times have changed.
  8. It was a joke about the other - TYRONE WILLINGHAM to NEBRASKA and FRANK TO NEBRASKA threads. People need to realize that Bo aint changing up the staff anytime soon Well my thread was simply a hypothetical situation to break the monotiny. However there was a thread on here earlier that several people swore that 2 assistants were out at the end of the year. I don't necessarily believe Bo would change his staff either, it seems that they are all doing a decent job. I do however believe that several of these assistants more than likely be gone after 2-4 years. Many are up and comers and will leave for bigger opportunities.
  9. I definately think the D-Line next year will be even better than this year. Turner and Allen on the ends would be one of the best combos we have seen in awhile. Suh has a shot to become Glen Dorsey like if he continues is level of play. Several young DT's are getting time right now and Baker might get into the mix next year. I think the upgrade at DE will be the biggest factor, combine that with a solid push up the middle and we should see a lot of sacks IMO.
  10. No one thinks that Frank might want to come back and contribute to the institution he loves? He has a lot of respect for Bo. While the events that I mentioned would take a perfect storm to occur, if they did I don't find this as far fetched as you all seem to make it out to be. I think Frank would consider this, maybe TO would ask him as a stepping stone to AD.
  11. While I agree with your sentiments about the National availability, mostly because I am stuck on the East Coast, I don't understand how you can say that about baseball? The attendance had risen for 4 straight years, 2004-2007, last year was the first drop. Below are the attendance figures for the past 6 years. Revenues are up all over baseball. Only now in this economy are teams starting to re-evaluate what they are paying the players. Contract records have been set each year until now. Year: 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 Total Att: 67,630,052 72,968,953 74,385,295 75,959,167 79,447,312 78,584,286 5,338,901 1,416,342 1,573,872 3,488,145 -863,026 7.894% 1.941% 2.116% 4.592% -1.086% Baseball has proven that local tv market deals bring more interest not less.
  12. Not a damn thing. I am not sure what the heck he can mean by that? Let us see, should we execute a nickel package and cover 2 scheme? Maybe we should run a 4-3 package and cover 1. No wait, I have got it!! Let's run a power defense, that will solve them!!!
  13. Lately all anyone seems to have to talk about is one of three topics: the students not showing up at games, Cody Glenn's suspension, or what bowl game NU might go two (despite the fact that two games are still in doubt). As Husker Trucker stated in one of the "the students suck for not showing up" threads, "If this board is so hard up now for topics to talk about, just imagine what it is going to be come March....duh!!" Well HT I completely agree! So I thought I might start a new, completely random thread. In reading the thread Bennychico11 started with a KC Star article about how NU fans can feel proud again, one quote from Bo made be think about whether or not Frank Solich might return in a few years to NU. Here is the quote and link to the post: “To be honest, I never would have thought when I left here in 2003 that I’d be back working here,” Pelini said. “I didn’t feel like the job should have been open in the first place. But it happened, and I was ready to move on. You can only control in this life what you can control. It’s funny how things work out.” http://www.huskerboard.com/forums/index.ph...st&p=378550 Point being is that I think it has been well publized how much respect Bo has for Frank. He has said repeatibly that he thought Frank got a raw deal. He mentioned before the season that he doesn't think many people realize just how much of a contribution Frank made to NU. This all leads me to ask what are the chances Bo brings Frank back to NU as a part of his staff? It is true Frank has a gig at Ohio U and has had some good success there, but he is only 2-8 this year. Just for hypothetical thinking, let's say his record doesn't get better the next 2-3 years and loses his job. Maybe he does get better but gets weary of being a HC, he is 64 or 65 years old after all, but still wants to remain involved in coaching. Either way Frank is no longer the HC at Ohio after 3 years. The current staff at NU has several players that could be gone by then, mostly due to being hot commodities, and I would guess Watson is one of them. Bottom line is that openings may be available at that time. The other factor to consider is that Frank is an EXCELLENT RB's coach and, no matter what anyone else will say, a good offensive mind. He could continue to be that bridge to the past after TO retires again. If all of this happens, what are the chances Bo looks to bring Frank Solich as a RB/Asst. HC? What would be your feelings if this happened?
  14. I hope everyone else on this board is right and we walk all over KSU. But when the fans underestimate a team and all the talk around campus from students is "we are gonna kill KSUcks" etc., it can't help but have an impact on the team. They don't live in isolation. That and the feeling of accomplishment from getting the blackshirts, and I'm worried about this game. Don't think for an instant that the KSU coaches aren't playing up the handing out of the blackshirts as "wow, Nebraska thinks they have a great defense now." If KSU has early success, and their Husker-hating fans get into it, I see it being a long, tough game. Is that the talk going around campus now? Even so, I'm willing to bet they've had Pelini pound it in their head that they can't take any team for granted at this point far more than they've heard some dork in english class telling them they're invincible, and hopefully they'd know who is more trustworthy in such a situation. Besides, I think they'd want the fans to be confident in them. I've never played football, but I find it easier to get things done when people are confident in me opposed to sitting back waiting for me to screw up. You are right that Bo and Co are pounding the players not to overlook this game. Several articles in OWH and LJS on this today. Several of the players talk about this also. KSU has to win to stay alive for bowl elgibility, the Seniors will play hard for the lame duck coach that recruited them, and they vividly remember the 42 point loss in Lincoln last year. You better hope that Bo's message has sunk in, but I don't think NU will lose. If they do the things they have done the past 5 games, minus OU, they will be fine.
  15. I concur with you on that, which is why I think Cowherd's analysis about "power running attacks" is wrong.
  16. I know I laughed my a$% off at that one. Good stuff!
  17. That is pretty much all I get from him also. I have tried to listen to him before several times and each time I keep thinking how much of an idiot he is. This is just one prime example.
  18. That there is some bitter feelings coming out, she must have done a number on you. It is ok man, let it all out.
  19. Check your PMs. I would need one also since you are being so generous!
  20. How are they going to pull that off? Are they going to beat CU so bad it'll somehow count for 2 losses instead of 1? No it may as well be since CU will definately lose in Lincoln! Cy is just projecting the future result.
  21. B)--> QUOTE(Husker B @ Nov 12 2008, 11:37 AM) 378063[/snapback] You're right caveman! Sincerely, the guy who posted above you Yeah you beat me to it, but great minds think alike!!!!
  22. Anyone remember Thunder Collins? THAT was a recruiting bust.
  23. If you think this is ridiculous then I think you missed the point. Mitch Sherman is right about the stadium being full the ENTIRE game since well before you were born.
