  1. I would say he has already earned the right to play for NU since the coaching staff offered him a scholly. I agree with Big Willie, I think he is a competitor.
  2. Cy you should get the look alike thread, now open!, started with this one!
  3. Yeah and the guy who did that got fired as did the coach.
  4. Granted...BUT...one of the major issue we have on "D"...IMO...is lack of depth.... I agree with you man. The fact that we have to play some of the guys we do is just sad. IMO That and if you are looking at starting the "transition up," building QUALITY depth is a big step. True those players may not all make the field next year, but the majority of them will be on the 2-deep meaning they will be pressing the starters hard. I would also bet that many of them will see a lot of time on the field next year even if they aren't a starter, so they will have an impact next year. To top it all off, these players will/may be the starters for Bo's 3rd year and hopefully allow the team to blossom. I don't think anyone can look at this team and say that this wouldn't be a multiple year project to get to an elight level. I also forgot to add Baker to the list of "impact" recruits. I think the overall talent over the next couple of years already looks twice as good as what Bo started with. You can't win with 5-6 walk ons starting.

  6. Talent isn't just about being fast and agile, I think intellegence is just as important. In this case I have to go back to Bo's body of work the 5 previous years before this one and see that the job he did was not a fluke. This coaching staff was all involved in those successes in some part. I concur 100% on the penalties. I thought the team got better in this area after Bo instituted the running sprints plan, but this team has regressed again. I would say that it is an improvement since the record was 5-7 last year. Since when is an improvement in the record not a sign of getting better. Isn't that what this is all about? The extra practices will also definately help. I also think it helps recruiting, I don't care that there are a lot of bowl games out there. In my mind it almost makes it a must do to achieve a bowl berth because if you don't recruits know how bad your team must be. Well KU is only a 3 point favorite, their W/L record is only one game better than NU, and I think the team will rebound well (see TT on the road). KSU has been equally inconsistent and very bad at times, as has NU, but their record is worse so I have to go with NU on this one. CU appears to be regressing the past 2-3 weeks with no sign of improvement. NU is 2-1 in that same period, I would definately take NU. There is no one else to play is my guess. The roster isn't that deep. All of the top 7-8 DB's have played significant time this year. I am not sure who else you want them to play? I watched all of his press conferences this year and I frankly don't have an issue with how he handles the media. He gets surley at times, but I don't see him berating the media. He gives honest answers. As far as yelling at the refs, other than TO almost every college game I watch, and frankly I watch a lot of CFB, the coaches are yelling at the refs. If this team takes a nose dive and goes 0-3 down the stretch, then I will really start to question what is going on with this staff. I honestly don't know how loyal Bo will be. One of his strengths thus far appears to be evaluating where the team is at. If he can't make the change that is needed, then Bo will have to answer for it same as Callahan. It appears from the telecasts that he is into the game when on offense as well, however without some insider talking about the atmosphere during a game this is an impossible, and therefore unfair to ask, question to answer. Bo gets the same shot Callahan did. I would say yes at that point, with only salvation coming in year 4. I don't think this will be a problem though. Wow on this one. I guess you aren't that high on Compton or Fisher then? How about Dennard? How about Williams coming in this year's class? While they haven't closed on them yet, conventional knowledge right now is that they have a GREAT shot at some really good D-lineman, such at Heimuli, and Defensive Backs, such as Logan. I don't think so. So VT being a 5-3 team and MU being 7-2 aren't good teams? Pretty sure both are going to be in bowls. Losing to bowl teams, while it sucks, looking at where NU was last year can't be a horrible thing. I think he would have to get an invite to a camp and really open some eyes. Small chance, but I think he will get looks. Not sure who you are referring to, but I personally wanted to throw up after that one. I was impressed by what the team did the following 3 weeks, looking for the same this time. I was looking the same way in the first 5 minutes of the game on Saturday. I am not sure anyone could see that series of events coming. In NY none.
  7. He has to be killing it in practices to keep getting shots in the games. If this is the case, then it is definately a mental thing.
  8. I am not even sure what the point of this thread is? Callahan had 4 years to produce and failed, not sure comparing the feedback each coach got in the first year makes sense. The only comparison that matters is 3 years from now. Bo will/should get a similar shot.
  9. I was thinking the exact same thing that night. I stayed off this board until today so I didn't have to witness the NU fan on NU fan violence. However I forced myself to watch the whole game and I thought they played better the last 3 quarters. Once the onslaught of mistakes was over, the team was in a fragile state and I was happy to see the team still trying out there. Hopefully this is what will carry over to this week for the team and not the negativity of the 1st quarter implosion.
  10. Why would you not want it, just because you might get blown out? The players need to play in these big games, to understand what it takes. You saw the team take a big leap forward after the MU game, both the coaches and players changed. The coaches modified their game plans to the team's current strengths and the players started practicing better.
  11. lol! saddest thing about that pic is you know some KU grads BMW was onboard. There goes their graduation present. BTW Cy, you never let me know if you hooked up with an ugly for me to get some MU/ISU tickets First of all...she isn't "ugly", she's....uh...unique. Why yes, Fro Daddy, I did make a point of hooking up with her and asking her about tickets...haven't gotten an answer yet since she's been off work on maternity leave....totally coincidental by the way (I really hope you enjoyed the ISU/Nebraska game CMB... ) . I wish you could have seen my face reading that second part. I went from "OH MY GOD" to "Silly, Chain Gang CY" , then to "No tickets yet to ISU/Mizzou" Anyway, thanks for the effort wait, you hooked up with a pregnant woman?
  12. Seeing as how he played his College ball at Iowa, I don't see why he would even consider. Sure he grew up in Ohio, but I would imagine he is fonder of Iowa.
  13. rivals Louisiana-Lafayette? Seriously? Well, it's a bowl.....a "SUCK-TASTIC BOWL" I don't see a finish below CU. I would guess Insight Bowl at worst, 8-4 should get an invite to the Sun Bowl.
  14. The Wrestling Coach Won, but Ragoni did cross the goal line 4 times!!!! The one where Ragoni hurdled Manning was absolutely priceless!!!!
  15. I agree, I think in those two areas he is similar to what Reggie Bush and Michael Westbrook do. However Westbrook is a much better in true RB plays, which IMO makes him one of the best backs in the NFL period. As far as the practicing part, I do wonder what Marlon would be like today had he had a coaching staff push him as hard for the past 3 years as Bo and Co are this year?
  16. I think he is talking about learning the ofense at wide reciever, not running back. Plus, some of that stuff can get confusing. Yeah I am pretty sure Bo was talking about having to learn a new position over the past few weeks.
  17. With the attrition they had from last year's class and Cody Green coming in this January, could his scholly count against last year's total leaving room for one more?
  18. Well if that happens, I would think NU would be high on his list then so maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing. Who is better, Rex or Chris? The rankings don't reflect it, but I'd take Rex everyday of the week. Between his athleticism, diversity in skills and leadership, I don't think Whaley can match him. Rex is one of those guys who in 2-3 years will make this his team. You need 3 yards? He will churn you out 4. Need a hard hit to set the tempo? Rex will do it. Need a solid influence in practice and off the field? Rex is it. Kid is just filled with talent and is a coaches wet dream. Honestly, if you had to dream up a perfect player to play under Bo, I really believe Rex would be as close as you could possibly get to a perfect player for our coach. Well let's hope UT keeps slow playing him, I would have to think he is getting tired of the waiting game.
  19. Well if that happens, I would think NU would be high on his list then so maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing. Who is better, Rex or Chris?
  20. I haven't forgot about Mendoza, I think he will be to the running game, what Swift is to our passing game. Looking forward to watching him next year. I think the coaches will be hard pressed, not to get him a lot of playing time. IMHO GBR!!! I think they have 7 I-Backs on the Roster. Plus any incoming Freshman. They could move him to LB and gain some needed depth. I think he could start at LB next season. I don't know about him being able to start, I think you are under estimating players on the roster. Not to mention if they sign the current verbal commits. Sean Fisher and Will Compton will be a dynamic duo.
  21. Beats a $4 hot dog...but we had those too. That beats a $8 hot dog at Yankee Stadium though
  22. Maybe the win itself is over rated, but I think it has more to do with how you follow it up. NU beats OU and just like what happened after the wins you mentioned for KSU and CU, a lot of hype will come NU's way. National Pundits will suddenly declare that NU is back on the way up. Recruits will take notice too and I think you would see several of the big timers commit this season, just like it helped CU. However if NU wins then subsequently goes back to a 50% or sub 50% winning record for the rest of this year and next, the win was nothing but a nice footnote in history.
  23. I think that the fact that this game is on the road will actually be a help this week. For some reason the team seems distracted in the first half of the home games, then gets it rolling in the second half. On the road, once the storm of home team emotion is weathered, NU can make the adjustments and make a run at winning the game. The team doesn't seem to come out as flat on the road making this possible.
