  1. Not the same. Then, we were used to winning all of the time. Now, we're used to getting blown out against better teams on the road.
  2. The UCLA game was a harbinger of things to come. A bad team putting up big numbers on our defense. They got rocked by a really bad Cal team yesterday.
  3. I don't think that's true. He dad told a radio station down there that his son said, "I'd rather be wearing red" when asked if he wanted to play for Florida or FSU. His dad may have made that up, but who really knows. Hm, I should rephrase: he liked the idea of playing for NU, but not what the program was offering him in the ways of development, etc. I think. Unfortunately I don't know his thinking. I do know he's on his way to UF. I'm not sure how many others on our line can play at UF.
  4. That other post reminded a lot of posts that were written during Callahan's tenure.
  5. NU plays much better at home than on the road. They could easily win the game and send the recruits home happy.

  7. Did anybody else read this like it was a DirecTv commercial? Very funny post.
  8. I disagree with urban having circles ran around him in the first quarter. He didn't use Miller's legs early on. Probably hoping his backs could take some pressure off of his QB. He Urban called Miller's number, this game went the wrong way in a hurry.
  9. Those were tire chunks. It's not unusual to see it, but a lot of it found its way on shirts last night. I wondered at the time if the field was wet.
  10. This guy's definition of passion is different than mine. His seems to include how many four letter words are hurled his way. Memorial sounded really loud on TV and the fans seemed really into it. Coach Kaz was sure impressed.
  11. A comeback against a traditional power, at least in their lifetimes, and the raucous crowd along with the celebrations afterwards made this a great visit for the recruits.
  12. 17-13 DONU. Beck keeps Wisky in the game with poor play calling.
  13. If we switch to Nike, will we get a real alternative jersey? It's hard to call this alternative when Wisconsin will be wearing basically the same thing for the game against us.
  14. Having watched both games, OSU has a much better d-line than DONU. They were able to get pressure with 3 or 4 d-lineman and were also able to stop the run,
  15. I don't think we learned anything, but it was good to see a lot of kids get some PT.
  16. To transfer, somebody has to want you. That's probably Carnes problem.
  17. The Beavers do it again. OSU plays a pro scheme on offense and UCLA looked confused all day. With so many teams playing the spread, a pro scheme almost looks foreign.
  18. Not to mention Meyer has already coached at tOSU and Ohio has a lot of good high school recruits. Nebraska isn't putting out a lot of D1 talent these days.
  19. I agree with this. Winning brings national perception and we don't do that anymore.
  20. Sometimes trolls are good to counteract the Kool Aid. Over the years, I've noticed my fellow Big Red online fans have become very arrogant. They rip other teams and conferences while looking at DONU with Big Red Rose Colored Glasses. Well, we got whipped by a bottom dweller from that crappy conference on the West Coast. It's time to come to the realization that DONU is just another program. The past is past and we are no longer elite. We left the elite club in 2001. I'm not saying we can't get back, but ... UNL is beginning to remind me of my alma mater, Oregon State, in many regards. OSU's basketball team was the 8th winningest program in 1989. Then our Hall of Fame coach retired. Corvallis, like Lincoln, is a bit of a hard sell to top recruits who want to go to cities with great weather, etc. Since 1989, OSU has had 4 winning seasons and have sunk to the 18th winningest program. Obviously UNL has done much better since Osborne left, but we haven't had any seasons that were Osborne-esqe either. I just have this feeling we, UNL, aren't going to get back into the elite status mode until we hire established coaches that kids want to come play for.
  21. Can somebody point me to where that thread went? I can't seem to find it and I think it'll be more comical this time around. Two Pac 12 "bottom dwellers" beat two of the best programs in the Big 10. Seriously, I think joining the Big 10 was an excellent move for DONU. Lots of money and prestige to be had. I fear, however, it was a bad move for our overall football program. We're recruiting big, slow kids for our front 7 to combat the Big 10's big back tradition. Consequently, we're going to be outclassed by teams with speed because we're too slow. Watching last weeks game against Southern Miss, I couldn't believe how slow our front seven was. I told a buddy of mine we looked like the UNL teams that kept losing to the Florida schools before we figured out we needed speed to win. We've regressed in that regard IMHO.
