  1. I'm pretty sure it was Biv. Or maybe Devoe. One of those guys. I dont think they will get that one Knapplc No.....I got that one. Situation is SERIOUUUUUUUUUUUUUS. Sadly so did I.
  2. Can he be here by La. Lafayette? It's throwback week after all.
  3. Something about fans from the south. I remember the Clemson fans before the Gator Bowl and now here is a class act from ASU.
  4. Bigger TV markets? Definitely not better games.
  5. During my one and only year as a season ticket holder, I was so high up that I did not even know the cheerleaders led the cheer. I just thought it was tradition. Other than the National Anthem, it was my favorite non-football part of the experience (that & the Fairbury hot dogs). So yeah, it needs to be done right. If the cheerleaders can't get it going then the student section (or someone else) needs to take the lead.
  6. I did not watch but I did listen, and this with two kids in the house. So I did not get a real feel for how things went. I'll wait for the Bo Show tonight to see extended highlights. If it's true, that Zac spent a lot of time on the run, then I think our O-line needs to get a lot better before VT and definitely before conference play. If he can throw on the run and have the kind of game he had, that's a good thing. That said, if we can run with the big boys the way we ran last night, I like our chances.
  7. I thought this before the season even started to tell you the truth. And I'm not a bandwagon guy. I really don't think so now but I think Green will get some time (and contribute) in real situations this year.
  8. That always brings tears to my eyes. Why, I don't know.
  9. I had to scroll a looong way down, so this thread will go the way of the OKST/GA game on TV in Omaha (meaning hard to find, or not available .... wazzup with that anyway??) And that's okay, my thread dying that is. I would like to see that game though.
  10. On this auspicious day, I thought it would be a good time to start my own thread for the first time. I can tell you a little about myself, and give some thoughts on Husker football. I'm a native Texan who has lived in Big Red Land for 17 years. Never followed college football much growing up but I knew who Darrell Royal, Bear Bryant and Earl Campbell were. That was about it. I still love my Texas pro sports teams. But today I am all about Husker athletics, football in particular. There is a little room in my heart for Creighton too, but just a little. Yeah, I'm one of those fans. When I was about 10, my dad worked for a book store chain and we flew a little Cessna company plane to College Station to hang out all day at a shopping mall book store with ... Bear Bryant. He was having a book signing event for his autobiography, Bear. He was already entrenched at Alabama but they came in droves to meet the old guy. When he met me he asked if I was going to come play for him at Alabama. "No sir," I said, "I'm going to play for Darrell Royal at Texas!". He didn't like me much after that. I still have that book signed by Bear Bryant. I've been to two Husker games in Texas, the game at Austin Nov 1, 2003 (Bo's only year as DC, alas Frank's last year as HC). We were at the Alamobowl win over Michigan. We had planned that trip to go visit for Christmas already, and when we beat Colorado we knew we had a shot to play in SA. Sure enough, we did. I took my dad and my niece and made sure they were decked out in red. My niece had just graduated from Converse Judson, the same high school attended by Titus Brothers who ... was in on the game saving tackle with Zack Bowman. That was a fun night. Judson wears red. I asked my niece if she had ever seen so much red before. "Umm, yeah" was her response. I flew my dad in for the Texas game in Lincoln in 04, made sure he wore red. He had a good time but he was cold. This is a football board, right? Okay. I think this year might be special but I have some concerns. I think Lee is going to be fine. I'm concerned about the running back position, for obvious reasons. I like that Helu has bulked up. He might be more durable. I think we will be strong on both lines. Three freshmen starting at linebacker? Those men are going to be flying around like missiles. If they can play disciplined I think LB play will be a strength by mid-season. The DB's can only get better from last year. Overall, I think our weakest area is the defensive backfield and secondary. But we have one intangible. That is our coaching. I happen to think that Pelini, Pelini, Watson & Co. have what it takes to lead this program to greatness. It might not be this year. But it might. If they get better as the year goes on, I would not be surprised to see us in Irving come December. Now, for those of you who have read through this mini-novel without falling asleep and having little keyboard indentations in your forehead, I have a trivia question for you. Look at my screen name. It is a play on words of a pop culture reference from the seventies. The first person to respond with what that pop culture reference is, will win my undying respect and admiration for the life of this thread. Which might not last long, of course. Note: I just checked my post length. I can still use over 100,000 characters before reaching the maximum allowed post length. Betcher glad I didn't.
  11. In all seriousness though, you guys who don't mind the burning of the N, really? It would be a lock down drag out fight if I saw someone burning the US Flag. Why? Because of what it represents. I don't like it because they burned our tradition with that N, they burned all my childhood memories of Jarvis Redwine, I.M. Hipp, Turner Gill, Roger Craig, and every other player from the past. I realize we are the classiest fans in the land but are we also becoming the softest? I appreciate your passion for the program and the history, but I refuse to equate a college football pep rally with burning the American flag. I'm a perspective guy. Let 'em have their fun. We'll have our fun tomorrow night.
  12. There's something fundamentally right with you, my friend.
  13. I have no problem with it. And "n" is the first letter of my screen name.
  14. Oddly enough I feel right at home here in the third grade. To keep it on topic, if the 3 game bundle (ooh) is not too bad I'll probably get it.
  15. This is the second time I've seen a reference to Bo disregarding the Unity Council. Is that insider information? Not being rude here, but I'm as curious as anyone else.
  16. It's not anyone's business what happened. I don't know if Bo discussed this with TO or not, but I strongly suspect that he did, even if just to inform him ahead of time. Would TO have handled it differently? Don't know. It's Bo's program now. The idea that you're going to tell the world that QC did drugs, stole cars, fathered multiple children, slept with the Dean's wife, whatever, is rubbish. You don't do that to these kids. As someone else stated earlier, "dismissed from the team for rules violation" followed by silence is SOP in college football.
  17. I think that if Bo Pelini in your face a couple of times is not a wake up call, then you ain't waking up any time soon.
  18. Nothing on the WH or JS web sites, except that Helu has high praise for Castille. As we all do, I'm sure.
  19. You can drive to Waco in about 11 hours. Not a lot of scenery on the way, but it's a pleasant enough drive. Assuming you're heading from Omaha (admittedly quite an assumption), don't drive through KC. Head south from York NE to Wichita KS and then hit 35 there. I can give you more details about where to stop and walk around if you get serious about driving. I drive to San Antonio a couple of times a year to see my family. My Blackshirts flags get a workout through KS and OK.
