  1. How do you know? Why wouldn't it work? We literally ran several triple option plays against Ohio State, and they all worked pretty well.
  2. I've seen some talk about poaching some of LSU's out-going guys, maybe even Willy Korn out of Coastal? If they are indeed getting Korn, I see a lot more triple and lead option in the future. While it isn't the flexbone, it's a start.
  3. 'Froster'? Good gawd. That's even worse than 'Boliever'
  4. Oh, I absolutely agree with that, and even though I don't totally agree, I see why you want Frost gone. But, I see a lot of people wanting certain coaches because they are part of the Saban coaching tree, like that guarantees anything.
  5. It definitely depends on the pick. If it was an Urban Meyer or a Bob Stoops? No problems. But a Bill O'Brien, or even an assistant with no head coaching experience? That would be bad. I think we could all get behind guys like Aranda, Napier, DeBoer, or Chadwell, but none of them bring any assurance they'll get us over the hump. Personally, I want Jeff Monken or Troy Calhoun. I believe that style of football would immediately set us apart from the rest of the conference, help the defense, and give us a chance, almost immediately, to win the West. But that's just me.
  6. Texas will be better going forward; Lord knows what'll happen in the $EC, but he's definitely underperforming, even in their first season. Pruitt failed pretty badly at Tennessee, too. Just because a guy coached under Saban *cough*O'Brien*cough*, he isn't granted some kind of magical coaching powers that absolutely lead to conference championships and the Playoff.
  7. Has it been 72 hours? Since it's still 'radio silent,' I guess things are no bueno?
  8. Well, we did flip Stanger not too long ago and just had a 3-star commit. So we have that going for us. Which is nice.
  9. Frost made 2 mistakes today. Calling for a QB sweep when Adrian was hobbling around, and trying for a FG sitting at 4th and 4 down by 6. Other than that? Eh.
  10. Hearing Carter at halftime, it really seems like Frost is staying.
  11. *Maybe* Clawson could get something rolling here. Would people be willing to wait? Hard to say. To me, a 'big get' is Urban Meyer or Bob Stoops. Outside of those guys, I don't know who is going to out-recruit the likes of Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, or even Minnesota for a lot of blue-chips.
  12. Yeah, I remember that. Even Mark May disagreed with Pederson's decision. Maybe the only time Mark May was ever right about something. But Trev did give some context. He had mistakenly assumed that Osborne and others were on-board with the decision; maybe some of the off-the-field rumors were true and warranted such a shocking move. After he heard that this was pretty much just Pederson's decision (maybe along with Perlman?), he changed his mind and came out pretty strongly against Pederson. Of course, I think this was after Callahan was tanking in his first season in Lincoln.
  13. I hope they're right about the 'Lincoln still being an attractive place for coaches' part. Because I remember in 2003/04, it wasn't. If Trev gets rid of Frost, it BETTER be a big get.
  14. I hope Frost stays and rights the ship, honestly. Does he really deserve another year? No. But, aside from '22, he's putting together what looks to be pretty good recruiting classes after. Dylan Raiola is a possible commit. We were a few bonehead plays away from beating 3 ranked teams. I'd like to think the bounces finally start to go our way before too long. But if he's given the axe, it's another few years of crap until *hopefully* the next staff puts it together. We can't continue being a revolving door of coaching staffs and hope to get back. If Frost is let go, Trev has A LOT of pressure in choosing the next coach and staff. Outside of Urban Meyer or Bob Stoops, most of the candidates seem pretty underwhelming. We all knew Riley was a terrible choice after Eichorst canned Pelini. If Trev picks another Riley-type guy, I don't see Nebraska football ever being relevant again. ....until maybe, FINALLY, we get an option guy back in Lincoln. Now THAT would be interesting.
  15. The portal has really made things tough for coaches. Rip into a kid, or bench him, and he ends up in the portal. Once could argue that if a kid is going to be like that, we don't want him anyway, but we've lost a bunch of good players the last few years because of the portal.
  16. Wasn't Pruitt a Saban guy before he went to Tennessee and failed spectacularly? Working under Saban doesn't always equal success. O'Brien wouldn't do much better than Frost.
  17. Hiring O'Brien would give the same excitement, or less, as Mike Riley. No way he out-recruits most of the B1G for the athletes we would need to compete for the West. Losing record for at least 2 more years, over under for wins after that is a solid 6. We've literally seen THAT movie already. No thanks.
  18. Watch some old Georgia Tech or service academy games, how their offensive lines block. It's an ENTIRELY different scheme and philosophy. So yes, I absolutely believe Benhart would be a monster firing off the line for Monken or Calhoun. There is no outside zone patty-cake. It's in your face, helmets trading paint, pads cracking awesomeness.
  19. I'm pretty close to that state, too. Would you agree, though, that an Urban Meyer (maybe Chris Peterson) hire would kick the hype levels up several notches? I'm not saying Urban would ever come here, but, man, it would be something.
  20. I guess I should have been more clear. I would done going to games, and things Husker football-related. I spend a good chunk of money every fall going to a few games and buying Husker gear. A guy like O'Brien just brings no excitement. I don't see how he would beat out Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, etc for recruits. I love Nebraska no matter what, but I'm even now getting to the point where I get MUCH more enjoyment watching the service academies do their thing, than whatever the heck we're trying to do now. Who knows that O'Brien would be any better? Why would recruits choose him over a Mel Tucker? What would O'Brien bring to the table that gives us any kind of edge. If the past is any indication, probably not a lot.
  21. Embrace it we would, 100%. We'd be going nuts for a B-Back smashing up the gut for 5 yards. Benhart would be driving guys back instead of being put on his back. Wouldn't that be something?
