Wow! I diagree with almost all of the previous post. You know what message it sends to the players that chose to come here? You have to earn your spot!! We will continue to bring in talent regardless of who you are!! Sometimes kids do dumb things- like break windows. They pay for it and move on. Sometimes player coach relationships don't work out. Happens all the time. His father's use of the word "we" when referring to his son is less bizarre than a Husker fan's use of the word "we" when referring to the team. The loyalty thing always makes me want to puke. What a sham!! It came up when Ek was interviewing at USF as well. Every coach should always look at all of their options because 1 bad season and you could be gone!! This fan base shows no loyalty to players or coaches when they lose! Do you really think that Bo and co haven't thought about, and discussed the character issues? They must have missed all that right? I don't care if this kid comes here or not but if we could trade Witt for Mavre I guess I'd take that.

I'm the one that made the messiah remark and it is a sarcastic jab at those who think he is more than he is. I'm sure he's quite talented and has a bright future but starting next year is a stretch. BTW- I know what his injury is...........stigmata

AGREED! I remember being in high school and having friends that would date the "little girls" as I used to call them. Really they were just manipulating young girls that had fallen prey to older guy syndrome. I kind of think that is how this whole Statutory Rape law got put into place. To keep older guys from exerting unfair influence over younger girls. I realize more female teachers having inappropriate relations with younger male students are starting to show up in the news but I really doubt that this legislation was driven because women were doing something they shouldn't. Plus guys are kind of into that stuff....we had the hottest typing teacher in jr high!!! If the rumors are true, even if Cody didn't know exactly how old she was, or she lied about it, I bet he still knew he had some element of control over a younger girl and he took advantage of it. At his age it has to be hard to resist..... The stories about the booster family and deals behind the scenes just feels dirty to me. I could see the family wanting to keep this out of the papers but still....its pretty gross from both sides.

The picking up thing I don't think sounds that bad. It's kind of like when your kid is being a pain and saying they are going to leave and run away and you are struggling with them and holding them so they don't take off, but you find it's much easier if you just pick them up over your shoulder and carry them back in the house where you can reason with them. Most parents/couples don't like to fight in public, so getting her back in the apartment where there is more privacy would be best. I'd have to say I'm most worried about the second return of Marv Alberts in Barry! Biting??!! Now that is a little worrisome! Is he two years old again? Why would I do that? I asked folks to support Callahan early in his tenure, I wouldn't do any different with a new coach. I just find the man-crushes insufferable. True Dat. I support my country and criticize its leaders decisions often. Its my job. I for one, like your comments Dave. I also like it that many have pointed out that if Callahan had done some things Bo has done we would've gone ballistic. Bo doesn't have an easy job. Lots of scrutiny. Some of his decisions will be questionable at best. I think we will see much inconsistancy regarding discipline. Same as any other coach.

There are a couple posts in this thread that make the assumption he was kicked off the team. He could have just decided he was unhappy and left. I saw nothing that implies that this was disciplpinary. Did I miss something?

Honestly, I was kind of surprised we didn't lose more when Pelini came in. Maybe just my perception but players leaving seems to be handled with way less nastiness than during the Callahan transition. If players want to go that is OK. We need the schollies for next year. Even if it is a surprising one.......

They think he has a shot to play somewhere as a starter. They asked the coaches to name a starter after spring ball so that if he wasn't the starter, they could get that opportunity somewhere else. He didn't commit to Bo. He committed to Cally. The situation has changed and maybe it wasn't the best place for him. He made a request- request denied. I also think it was OK for Bo to say "Nope, I can't do that." As for calling upper classmen aabout workouts, etc. Sounds like he was trying to be a leader. Just is a little socially awkward. You dont have to apologize for speaking your mind. I agree with most of what you said, commitment, not quitting and breaking his word... all bad things and definitely signs of the new ME generation. I think his attitude would have affected his play on the field, instead of doing for the team he will do for Pat... and probably cost the team in the process. lets hope zac is like the taylor variety! One of them went to our church and when he got caught by his parents it came across the telephone gossip line......I mean prayer chain. If high school kids (this was late 80's) were doing it, do you really think college athletes aren't? Its one thing to be a fan. Although Coz is a tool I do believe I was one of many that were way too hard on the young men on that defense. Emotion gets involved a people act poorly. Myself included. Sorry 2007 Husker seniors.
