  1. What exactly did he do? https://twitter.com/bubbaprog/status/673367999085043712 Have to wonder about Cook. With this, not mentioning their RB and being a 5th year senior and starting QB but still not a captain. Something is off. Yeah something doesn't seem right about that whole situation. The best play on that final drive, IMO was the option keeper by Cook. He played like a captain. 1st and goal from the 2, and they run 3 straight times to win the game. Classic. Does anyone think that fat Danny would do what works? Nah. He's be pitching it all over the field. Can't argue with this. DL reminds me of Davis, the OC Texas canned and I_WA picked up.....periods of inspired playcalling followed by episodes where you swear his mom drank the bong water when she was carrying him.
  2. Jesus, let it go. You're embarrassing yourself.
  3. Connor Cook is a bitc#. A legend RB like Archie Griffin hands him the trophy and he can't even acknowledge him? I was pulling for MSU and still am happy they won, but Cook won't hit anyone's radar in ten years but AG will still have a name.
  4. Is that really any worse than a run getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage on 3rd and short? Yes No
  5. Bury your head deeper in the sand... you'll feel safer there. As opposed to what? Suggesting Mike Riley turned down offers through out the years to USC and Alabama in some plot to pad his pockets when the perfect team came along? Again, fan fiction. Logic? You are soooooo screwed.......
  6. I know him and he is not "butt hurt" over Bo...Very few fans are.I knew John F Kennedy, and you sir or no John F Kennedy!!! You make a great Spiro Agnew, my nabob of negativity friend.
  7. Because it's a process and everyone was moving around real well. Too soon?
  8. Not until the rest of us unbrace also. Fine, but I don't come cheap. Red Lobster and all the cheddar muffins I can eat.
  9. "Questionable" Do you realize other teams have busts too? NU had the third or fourth best attrition rate coming into this season. The 4th or so attrition adjusted talent ranking (neck and neck with MSU and the only team with a significant lead was Ohio St). I'm so tired of the misinformation. If seeing this misinformation posted by some of these guys makes you tired, you should be in a coma. Virturally anything you post has that effect on me.
  10. I may not agree with everything in your post, but it's a thought- provoking post. Looking back at the 90s teams, I think honesty compels that while the seniors demanded full effort and the locker-room culture demanded it, those players were devoted to TO, Charlie and Milt to a degree much like BP's players were devoted to him. The excitement, the desire and the refusal to accept less than 100% was in part due to the players' devotion to their coaches. Long way of saying that while I don't like BP's former players tweeting things that are negative to the new staff, it's not to be unexpected. In the 80s the common joke was: "Why does it take Osborne five hours to drive from Lincoln to Omaha? He won't pass." If social networking were around back then I could see players taking to Twitter to defend TO. Not saying I approve of it, just that I could see it happen. Having said all that I agree with the OP completely that the team does not have, and really needs, a bunch of Jack Gangwishes, guys who get it, live it and breathe it. Until then, we will get what we get.
  11. Exactly. Just like Bo's attitude permeated the team the same goes for Riley. Those shots of him with his hands on his knees just staring at the ground a few games ago. He looked like an old guy who just didn't have it anymore and was pondering what to do next. We went from one extreme to the exact opposite. College kids especially feed off of their coaches especially the head coach. As for the picture by Benning those are probably a lot of backups or reserves. The offensive and defensive linemen always sit. Anyway I don't buy into the picture much in terms the effort the starters are giving. Whatever it is I think the effort is there but the enthusiasm has been lost. At 3-5 I wonder if some of the players have full confidence in the head coach and his assistants. I agree. Why can't we have an explosive nutjob like TO on the sidelines. Geez, those damned unflappable coaches just drive me nuts. TO had a ton of fire on the sideline. He may not have cursed, but he was as intense as any coach out there. Anyone who doesn't remember him arguing calls and going red is simply only recalling his last couple of years (after being advised by doctors to monitor his stress levels). Never said TO didn't have fire. As someone who remembers him as Bobfather's OC, TO almost always chewed gum and let fly a dadgumit. You post all the clips you can find of TO letting lose and I'll post far more clips of him reacting stoically.

  13. I have a very hard time imagining you being balanced in your observations of the program and your assessment of where the problems lie. I might take you seriously if you even gave a pretense of objectivity in your posts. I absolutely feel the staff has problems and I have no problems detailing them. But Benning and anyone who doesn't bang on the staff is just misguided....at least as far your posts indicate.
  14. Miiny being out of position did not occur in isolation. If you look at NU's plays prior that Newby's run you can see the setup. Minny's DBs looking the wrong way was due in no small part to NU running the RBs and FB up the gut, and to NU's jet sweeps. Ya, Minny was looking the wrong way and part of it was luck on our part but why discount what NU did to set it up?
  15. "Let's get it out of the way now that Minnesota was clearly not on the right page on defense, but regardless, we executed our part and that word EXECUTE is not something you could say too often in recent history." The OP addressed this. Also, while the hole was big are you seriously discounting what NU did to help create that hole? I understand guarding against the kool-aid but one can go in the opposite direction as well.
  16. He's also shown his ceiling isn't very high. In what way has he shown that? Not arguing with you, I'd just like your reasoning......heck I might even agree with it. But your statement standing alone needs some 'splainin'.
  17. No basis for this observation. You might be right but you just as well might be wrong. As for the cupboard, does the depth of the d-line and LBs left by Bo not trouble you?
  18. In these discussions about Frank it's important to remember that his AD wanted him to keep assistants that were old and some of whom (rumor has it) refused to go on the recruiting trail to the extent that was needed. Not saying Frank was a good HC or a bad HC, just another point to keep in mind.
  19. Dear Lord. If I were your boss I'd shitcan you the first time you used an eraser. Do you really think this stuff through before you post? Five games and you want a new coach? Saints preserve us.
  20. Tetracycline is what you're looking for. Clear that sh#+ up right away.
  21. Yes. I don't think they realize that Pelini forced Eichorst to fire him, so he could leave with his paycheck, which makes it a real head scratcher to me. Bo got what he wanted, and if he didn't, then we are stuck with a coach figuring out how he gets fired THIS year. The bone I pick on these threads is that Pelini brought out the worst in a lot of "College Football's Greatest Fans", belying that self awarded title. These are the ones who are suffering the additional pain and anguish in that they can't use a 3-0 Riley record to pummel real or imagined adversaries in their scorched earth policy...and yes, I give them the needle when the chance presents itself. Not necessarily disagreeing with the body of your post, but the red bolded above is just not true. SP did that, not one Nebraska fan was responsible for the sign in Memorial Stadium. Do many NU fans share that sentiment, sure, but then it's pretty obvious that NU fans ARE different in the way they treat opposing players and fans.
  22. This is so spot on. I may well be calling for MR's head at some point in the future, but after three games? THREE GAMES? Pure irrationality......or in the case of one guy, trolling.
  23. That's what the commentators broadcasting the game said. It doesn't mean that they are right, but they probably more objective than many of us here. Can't find the link right now, but several days ago there was a post where a number of national analysts said that NU was the best 1-2 team in the country. I assume they're objective also.
