  1. I suggest this get moved or locked since it has the potential to get very ugly.
  2. Basketball is secondary in Nebraska and this helps prove it. How many "fans" realize that there are no "quarters" in BB. They play 2 "halves". Sports are entertainment, if the product is good people want to see it. If it's not, well then.... People could have walked in after the first half of the OSU football game in '07 and sat anywhere they wanted; AND THAT WAS HUSKER FOOTBALL!!!!
  3. What's this guy smoking? But it's a nice and interesting breakdown, good stuff to read and well put together as a slideshow. I think the author meant Green will have better decision making skills than last year. With Green's "improvement" and Lee not advancing due to the lack of Spring Ball, Green will start; according to the author.
  4. I doubt Pelini would risk anything but.... My wife lived with her aunt in Lincoln while at UNL. If my wife was a linebacker (bring on the jokes) and my aunt-in-law? was a coach, would that be a NCAA violation. What if the Cotton's want to stay in Mom & Dad's basement in Lincoln? (are they allowed to get gifts from Barney at Christmas time?) Any NCAA gurus that know what the technicalities are? I think this is where the "prior relationship" thing come in to play, so none of what you ask would be a problem. Who knows tho, the NCAA does seem pretty head-scratching things. All in good fun of course: What if Bo searches out young talent through charitble organizations, forms a relationship with the family through church, habitat for humanity, or any other group. Talks the family into thinking that Lincoln is a good place for a high school kid, gets the family to sign over legal gaurdian rights. This way Bo can by gas, food, movies, and Escalades for the young kid. So crazy it might just work. I always thought there was a resemblance between Pete Carrol and Reggie Bush!

  6. I look at it this way: When my kids were born I would have loved the opportunity for a press conference. My wife was admitted to the hospital 5 days before the kids were born for bed rest, on the last day the doctor decided we would be smart to have a c-section that afternoon. As soon as we got this news I ran home and finished a couple loose ends (like calling my parents and letting them know) and packed some things to run back to the hospital. While I was gone my wife put it on Facebook that we would have the babies that afternoon. My phone was ringing while I was still in the operating room. People wanted to congratulate us and make sure everything was ok. As I started to return phone calls that evening people continued to call. Before too long people were giving me crap because they were good friends and had to find out through Facebook. These people didn't even give me 2 hours to spread the news and were actually hurt. There are a lot of friends and family of these recruits that are excited for these player, plus all the recruiting media outlets. These players probably grow a relationship with people like Crabtree, Callahan, and other reporters, and don't want to give "the scoop" to anyone in particular out of RESPECT for everyone. As long as the coaches know they are announcing on signing day, I don't have a problem. If coaches didn't want to wait until today to find out, they had every opportunity to give these players ultimatums. My .02
  7. i always thought the consensus was the opposite, that white shoes/socks looked faster, and that it was the miami?/florida schools that brought that about in the 80s. of course, ive been wrong before. One name to answer this debate: Billy "White Shoes" Johnson (he was fast, at least looked faster than everyone else)
  8. I don't think he is saying he is pulling a scholarship. He is just saying he doesn't consider them committed. That means he will continue to recruit other QBs or RBs or whatever position that player is. If he gets another commit he wants, then the scholarship is gone. He's telling kids you can't reserve a spot with us and keep looking. You want to look, go ahead, but there's no guarantee on your spot here. You're no different than any other kid that has us on their interest list. Truly commit, and your spot is locked up. Likewise, if someone who has "committed" to another school wants to visit us, I guess he would figure they are not really committed, and are fair game. I don't see a hypocrisy here. I also don't see sour grapes. I think he is just upfront setting expectations for both these kids, and others who might want to go to Nebraska that the spot taken by a soft commit is not really taken at all. I don't know how you protect against a last minute defection like Freeman. I don't recall the recruiting process, did he visit KSU after committing to us? It's not perfect, but it sends a good message. Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding You must have scored perfect on your reading comprehension on your ACT or SAT!! This is exactly what he said.
  9. Don't forget that Zac gets put in when we are on our own 10 yard line to throw an easy pass for a TD to look like a hero. It's all scripted. It's pretty damn pathetic if your special teams can give your offense a gift-wrapped TD by starting on the 10 yd line and end up losing a yard in the series and having to settle for 3. Something needs to be fixed or this could get ugly. We are already starting to lose offensive recruits due to our severe lack of offense. LINK I don't think you can count this as Green "playing" in the Texas game. I believe the series was a throw away by the coaches. All they wanted to do was get the ball far enough out to punt without the risk of a turnover. If Suh could take a snap from center, they would have had him play QB in that situation.
  10. Kinda what I thought. As far as the post about him being an "ego maniac", maybe the offense needs a little ego/confidence to go with the defense. Like I said, probably fit for rumorville; unfortunately I started typing here when I realized this.
  11. I just heard at work from a coworker who has access to paysites that NU contacted Weis yesterday. Any truth to this? I have absolutely no idea!
  12. That is a 15 yarder in college. No contact necessary.
  13. He touched the ball with his knee on the ground... guess what: That is called DOWNING THE FOOTBALL I'm pretty sure you're incorrect, actually positive. Even after replays the announcers said "Sorry Texas, the play is not reviewable." It was even clear in live action, I was surprised the ref blew it dead. They usually let it play out so they can go back and review.
  14. Exactly! I have him on in my truck, I'll get out to work somewhere for an hour, get back in and its like a time warp. I've seriously thought they accidentally started the program over. He does come up with some witty ideas but then repeats them like five times. Thank you. We all love to love or love to hate. All we need is love, da-da-da-da-da!
  15. And he openly admits he is a bandwagoner. He believes it is more entertaining to watch quality matchups than it is to watch scrubs scrimmage. And he is right. If Nebraska is not playing today (hypothetical) would you rather watch Florida vs Alabama or Southwest Kentucky State vs Northern Idaho? Cowherd is straight to the point and honest. About the show in his underwear, I don't know if he did it; but he did lose a bet to his minimum wage producer and actually got a tattoo because he lost in a 40yd dash race to a kid half his age. I like him!
  16. I've seen many Husker fans act that way. In fact, every game I've been to I've seen stupid people in red. The fact is each of us represents "1" out of "80,000+". You and me may be gracious and cordial, what about the other 79,998? Local bars are even worse when there is no fans from the other team present. Nebraska is not above anyone. Actually, our self proclamation of the "classiest fans" puts us into an upper tier of arrogance. Gracious people are everywhere, so are stupid people. What we can do as "1" is choose to embrace the gracious and ignore the stupid. Maybe, just maybe, without the attention they are craving, the "stupid" will just go away.
  17. And one more is added Just in case people don't realize my humber (or lack thereof) I was pointing out that Arlen is a fictional town.
  18. Makes about as much sense as DFW..er Arlen I'd vote Hawaii...Imagine the bennefit to recruiting. Never had any interest in visiting NY, but this would make it more worthwhile. I guess I'd just rather see it bennefit actual college towns than NFL cities..Even if it means going to Austin (and 6th street) or even Ames. Arlen would be fun! Hangin' with Hank Hill and the gang. Although they are Horns fans, it could be a good tailgate; they like to drink beer at least. And Hank does make the game winning call for Nebraska to beat Texas in the Championship Game (great episode)
  19. Actually Culpepper was a running threat. He rushed for over 1,000 yards in his career at UCF. Just take a look at his NFL stats while with the Vikings, he averaged like 60 carries a year his first several years. He ran like he was an athletic tight end. If you want people to even attempt to take your posts seriously, you should post something serious. JMO
  20. Texas plays Texas a&m Thursday Night. They actually have a tougher game.
  21. Not that I'm proud of it, but Kansas won the Orange Bowl in '07 did they not? exactly what I was thinking.
  22. My prediction for powerball #'s: 06 32 15 25 39 24 Crap, now I have to split the jackpot with everyone!!
  23. As I said, not going down this road again because of what happened last time. Search my posts back to about last year. I discussed it a bit before people went nuts that I even suggested it. You are correct. Cotton is definately Bo's guy. Anyone not retained from the previous staff is Bo's guys. He is incorrect as are you. Barney was recommended to Bo and was not someone Bo originally asked to be put on his staff. Bo makes hiring/firing decisions with assistants. That is FACT. Cotton may or may not have been recommended by Christ himself, but Bo hired him!!! That makes is absolute fact the Cotton is Bo's guy. TO runs the athletic dept. not the football team!!
