  1. Huskerballz........stay positive !!!!!!! Listen to the Dr. and don't rush anything..... with medicine today, you could be back in a decent amount of time. Of course, your age my dictate this a little....younger tends to increase recovery time. As a football coach, I unfortunately see ACL's almost every season. Everyone is different... some kids get hurt in football and are running track by April....others may use Track as a "rehab" tool and are full strength by Summer.... Most kids tell me that post-op isn't too horrible....the 1st time the Dr. bend your knee will be uncomfortable, but after that, kids don't seem to complain much. They just get a little impatient with the crutches. Good Luck !!!! Remember, stay patient and POSITIVE !!!!!
  2. I have been down on this team most of the year, and I am not jumping onto somekind of "bandwagon", but I would like to say congratulations to the guys and Doc for a great week of NU hoops. After the ISU game, I was conviced that this team was not even go to the NIT, but they really played well enough to upset two ranked teams in a row. Now, I think that if they even split the remaining games, the 3-4 quality wins will get this team into the NIT and post-season..... My original prediction is NIT vs Creighton at Omaha in round 2.... I know that I changed my mind after ISU, but now I am back on board with the original prediction.. Oh, by the way, I have 2 tickets to the CU game on Senior day....should be fun...I am taking my 7 year old son, who by the way, somehow, turned out to be a sCUm fan...little sh!t.... can't wait to ride his little butt all the way home from Lincoln
  3. I'm going with a sleeper..........Blake Lawrence...... Bo will turn this kid into a machine....speed, good build and likes to hit........can cover, blitz, and hit...injury didn't let us see his potential once Coz decided to play him.
  4. If the near future is the rest of this year........no way humanly possible......we stink..... Now, only my opinion, Doc is doing things the right way. He has said that NU is not going to be able to recruit the "superstars" like a KU, Duke, etc.... year after year... so, in Doc's opinion, he believes that the ONLY way he can compete is to bring decent kids in, redshirt them, and then bring them along, and when they are JR. and SR. we will have an experienced team with knowledge of Doc's system... sounds a bit like the Danny Nee teams.. rumor has it that 4 of the redshirt players would be in the top 7 on this year's team. Furthermore, I have heard that there may be a possibility of Anderson redshirting next season, so when the current redshirts can get a year under their belt, then bring Anderson in as a jr. , along with strowbridge and Miller and the other 4 current redhirts.... He would then have this combo for 2 years.... I think Doc is willing to suffer 1-3 years of painful basketball in order to build a system of "reloading" through the redshirt philosophy. Not a bad strategy, and he is at the right school to do it... NU basketball has pretty muched sucked for a majority of my 38 year life....so people should be okay with his idea.. Then, once he begins winning, he might be able to lure that "superstar" talent..
  5. Man, I am biting my lip and trying to stay positive.....but, since I type with my fingers and not my lips, I'll type.....WTF.... anyone else finding it tremendously difficult to watch this team? ISU has the worst 1st half in school history (hell, maybe NCAA history) and we still ONLY lead by 13 points at half, only to absolutely embarass ourselves the second half. I have said all along that I have zero expectations for this team, and until they actually do something, I will continue to have zero....... On the prediction thread, I said NIT vs Creighton in round 2, but after MU-ISU, I'll change that to no post-season at all !!!!!!!!! Once again, Doc WILL get this turned around, and is doing it the right way....building for the long haul by redshirting guys... but face it, this team is not good..
  6. Funny.....thanks for sharing..
  7. My prediction is that we go to the NIT, play Creighton at the Qwest Center in round 2...........
  8. Strigori is right on........1 vs 1 , and gren jerseys for QB..........NO WAY do you put your QB in danger of getting a season ending injury, which ultimately (as much as many of us don't want to admit) is just a "public practice".... Common sense says that you don't want a young eager D-player bearing down on the guy who may make your offense "go" next season... It is very difficult to have them not wear the jerseys, and yet try to limit the contact... the best way to handle it, is with the jerseys.... Personally, I am not excited about seeing Suh blind side Ganz/Lee.....proves nothing to me...
  9. By far, no doubt, my all-time favorite Husker D-player is Mike Brown........ I love this guy, and hate it that he is having such bad luck with injuries in the NFL... Maybe not on my "all-time" greatest defense, but I really enjoyed watching guys like Reggie Cooper (S), and in my early days (mid 70's) a guy by the name of Mike Knox (LB) and Brett Clark (S) were some of my favorites.... Of course, all of the guys everyone else have mentioned are among the all time Husker greats and legends... I just named a few guys who remain close to my Hukser heart during my early childhood.
  10. huskerRed17...........good point...if the time is ever right to fight for a postition, it is NOW.....everyone starts with a clean slate in the coach's eyes....good point.
  11. Thank you ContentRich.......for the athletic pubalgia......it has been bothering me since I made the original post.... but am I correct on Evans being the 1st (or one of the 1st) to develop this injury/condition. I remember, after Evans, many others seemed to have problems, which began to raise questions surrounding our strength/conditioning methods....
  12. HANC

    Spring Game

I will be there......hopefully in sec. 4, row 38, since KC told me he ordered my tickets too... Can't friggin wait.
  13. Maybe I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and feeling a little "pissy"........but, the fact that it seemed like over 80% of this board felt that we had/have the TALENT, it was just the COACHING last season, there must be pretty good talent returning on the Defense. When this topic was discussed at nauseum after the season, many, many of the members said that NU has talent, the coaches just sucked...... with that theory, the players we have are pretty good, and it will be difficult for any "true-freshman", especially if they don't get here until June/July to replace a returning D-guy. The exception may be Baker, who is a freak. Now, if you prescribe to the theory, that last season wasn't ONLY COACHING, and the players were partially to blame, then I think that a few spots may be up for grabs... I guess it depends on how everyone wants to "defend" their stance of last years demise. Sorry for the "grumpy" good morning post, but I honeslty think that I have a point. (yes, at the top of my head )
  14. Congrats PillDawg....... I will be pulling for you. Can't wait to see you come out of the tunnel next Fall. We need guys like Pillen, who will work hard for the cause. Don't forget about us once you put on the uni.... Good luck.
  15. I didn't say that "I" was comparing him to Tommie. But, if you can remember the hype surrounding Bobby coming in, the entire state automatically thought that this kid was going to be the next Frazier. Not my "bar", but the fact is, during the time in which he was recruited, NU was looking for the next TF... I didn't base my "minor-bust" label on comparison to Frazier, but to the fact that he brought a TON of buzz, and didn't even play the position that he was supposed to be our "savior"........now, of course, he played behind the Heisman winner, so I am not saying that he wasn't a fantastic athlete....just not the QB that the hype built him up to be.
  16. I totally agree that Bobby was a tremendous talent....just thought with all of the hype at QB, he may fit into this conversation.
  17. Wasn't Evans one of the 1st guys to develop the "sport's hernia" (not medical name)....deep abdominal injury, which caused him to miss a ton of time (almost the season)........then, after he returned, he was injured again, saw that he was never gonna be at the DI level again, so went to a smaller school..... Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think that I may be correct (doesn't happen much ) So, again, IMO you can not put Evans into this category. Would anyone consider Bobby Newcombe as a "minor" bust? He was very highly touted at QB, and then couldn't win the starting job and played a fairly prominant role at WR. I like Bobby, and he was important to our Big 12 Title, but he never panned out as the next Tommie.
  18. Going to go out on a limb here and say John Leverson. I said this a while back. This is one tough, fast kid, who bleeds NU red. He is homegrown, and will bust his butt to be successful. Listening to 1620, and hearing Damon Benning and Marvin Sanders talk about John only reinforces my personal opinion that Leverson will be a difference maker (2-3 years down the road of course).
  19. Unfortunately Cy, you can add the "mighty" Nebraska basketball team to that list of "impressive" opponents... My response to the intial post is..........wow, another school who isn't sure on "how to win" (see CU and KSU).... Congrats on the Orange Bowl and the season, but let's check back in 10 years and see what kind of longevity the program can hold. Not saying it won't, but before we get all "how about them oranges", let's do something worth talkin' about.
  20. I know that I said Beck, and still stand by that..... but, since we are throwing names, how about David Horne.. I remember how much hype he got, and BUST..
  21. I am not sure you can put Evans on this list.........if memory serves me right, Evans was off to a very good career, and his severe abdominal injury basically ended his DI playing time....he was on his way, until the injury......not fair to him to put him on this list.. my vote goes to Harrison Beck.......Way too much hype, for a kid, who still doesn't get playing time at his 2nd major college..........or, when he plays, he kind of sucks......
  22. That was a good quote....but in today's Omaha World Herald, and article about Husker recruiting stated the following........ When referrring to recruiting 5* players, Bo's remark was something to the effect of ....(paraphrase)... "We don't recruit a player by his number of stars, it is our job to put stars on the player".........friggin awesome quote and attitude. The last staff recruited high ***'s and didn't teach.....this staff is bringing in the athlete and making a 3* kid into a 5* All-American........Love it !!!!!!!!
  23. Personally, I do not want to say anything negative about a HS kid........ but, as I have stated many times, my brother coached this kid, and he says that a lot of people in the Harlan area, who are NU fans, don't seem to be too disappointed on the decomit..... Of course, like ronss, I would have loved to have big Dan, becuase of the "home-town", "home-grown" effect, but Givens and Robinson are a lot better on the field prospects.....IMO....
