  1. you have to like that completion percentage I like pretty much all of it.
  2. Those stats pop off the page more than C N Red's sig pic.
  3. Yeah, totally. Well, CNN et al try to call Trump out on his b.s., but he just lies, denies, and deflects as a rule. The media(CNN/Fox), in general, spent most of the last year giving Hillary bad press on the email/Benghazi stuff or basically excluding much coverage of her(or Bernie's) campaign. It's Trump, 24/7, all about the ratings and ad $. They cover him because his boisterous behavior and sideshow antics are appealing to most people, much more so than your typical milquetoast politician goings on. But, I'm fairly confident that you're right, they won't really push hard and dig deep to really bury his claims, they'll just gloss over for the ratings. It's a win-win for them and Trump. They get to continue soaking up ratings, and this whole thing does nothing but benefit him. He doesn't care about all the (good) people like me who lost any shred of respect for him they had long ago and realize he's a bigoted, elitist asshat. He wins the Republican nod, and makes these claims all along the way, just for attention. He's very, very good at publicizing himself. He plays the media like a fiddle. But, he'll probably win the Republican nomination, get crushed by which Dem has the nod, and slink back to whatever slimy business dealings he ordinarily attends to, all the more talked about. FWIW, I actually don't dislike Hillary as much as a lot of other people. I wouldn't mind Bernie winning the nod either- he seems like a very solid, intelligent dude. Hell, even O'Malley sounded good to me in the debate the other night, not that he has a chance. I just envision the Dems crushing whoever comes out of the Repub field, especially Trump, because it'd quickly be exposed to EVERYONE (not just us that already know it) that he's in way over his head and has no real substance. At this point, I would never underestimate the power of the media to make a president--or governor, etc--out of wealthy businessman/t.v celebrity, even though the guy is a ttl jerk and the people that admire and support him are caught in the foolishness of the delusion. Mur'cans love themselves some t.v. stars. The t.v. has "yooge" power in this country and people are essentially brainwashed and will often vote for whomever they see on the tube the most. Braindead voting, basically. So, Trump, as he generates "yooge" $ for the networks, actually has a scary chance in this thing. So yeah, I'm worried about Trump. But look at it. After the 1st Pub debate, they gave Fiona some love for awhile and her ratings were up. Shes fades. Then Carson, he fades. Now Christie a bit, but he'll fade. Whoever gets airplay, well, the public talks about e'm, ala flavor of the month. I think Rubio has the most legit staying power other than Trump and maybe Cruz. Graham dropped out today despite his invocations of G Bush, lol. I'm sure he got paid real well from his defense lobbyist to do all that war advocacy for 'em. Cashed in, says "I'm outta here..." Hillary is too much of a corporate Dem for my tastes, but she is a far better option than what the Pubs have to offer. Bernie's got my vote, though. Good points all around. Bernie certainly does seem like a more down to earth guy than Hillary, and I'd wager most everyone can identify with him better than Hillary. Rubio definitely comes off as the most polished, intelligent Repub. Gun to my head, if I had to pick one to get my vote, it'd probably Apparently Ted Cruz is wickedly intelligent, but an asshat to everyone with which he works. Plus, he doesn't believe in climate change. Lol Also, I find it quite humorous that during the debate the other night I agreed so much with what Jeb was saying as opposed to the other Repubs. I've never been shy about my disdain for his brother's presidency. It's probably just because he's the only one with enough balls to go after Trump.

  5. I love how Trump gets all up in arms about Clinton saying they use him to recruit, and both CNN and FoxNews go to great lengths to verify that can't be proven (but is probably true), but no one calls Trump on his bullsh#t claim he saw thousands of Muslims HERE celebrating after 9/11. Double standard much?
  6. Agree 100%. This staff has been in place for years and must be held accountable for decades (since 2001) of mismanagement. Yeah. Because they've had THIS roster for decades. It's a little bit different coaching team of guys you brought in and trying to best utilize guys you're still getting to know. Re: Cav, good. I'm tired of not being able to lean on our OL. It sucks. Great teams start there.
  7. I hope the NFL brings the ban hammer down swiftly and justly on OBJ. Norman shut that guy down except for two plays, and Beckham still managed to screw one of them up. He's a effin' punk.

He's a prima donna. The way I understand it, he's a very selfish, me-first guy and he rubs a lot of other players the wrong way, even on his own team.

The Hawks are cocky as hell too. But at least you've backed it up with one trophy and another SB appearance. It'd be pretty funny to see the Panthers, with al their dancing and showboating, drop their first playoff game.

    3. Savage Husker

      Savage Husker

Yeah the SB champ team had a lot of attitude, which I think correallated to how dominating they were on the field. They've lost a lot of that swag, but being a sub .500 team thru 12 weeks should help curb that.

Y'all are rolling now though. That's what matters. Hot at the right time. I'm just hoping Philly dominates Washington Saturday and rolls NYG in week 17 to secure a playoff spot. We've been limping along this whole season.

  8. I guess in a sense I consider it evangelizing because I think that the on-field prayer has the opportunity to welcome non-believers to worship with those who already profess to be Christian and therefore reach new ears that way. I agree that it's not the same as deliberately seeking out non believers, but that can be a very daunting task, and the limited number of evangelicals I've known in my lifetime have not had the social skills or tact to do so without coming off either entirely too strong or somewhat offputting. I agree as long as its constitutional, any post game prayer should be allowed, and I feel very strongly about keeping it constitutional. It's also way more likely to gather a large group of Christians than any other religion from two American football teams- just a numbers game. But anyone should be welcome to profess their faith afterwards, or with a group of fellow believers, of their own volition. Agree 1000% percent about the bolded. It makes me sick to my stomach that people abuse and misuse Christianity to preach from a pulpit of superiority to other, "lesser" mortals. A perfect example would be that Kim Davis woman from Kentucky. What she did was despicable. I agree that much of what's in the Bible could be interpreted as a personal guidemap for how to live your life, instead of taken literally. I also think we should exercise a modicum of common sense when interpreting the good word and need to apply it reasonably in conjunction with the world in which we currently live. Heck, the bible says having tattoos, piercings, and trimming the sides of your hair or your beards are sins. Certain things like that seem awful archaic in our world today. I realize this may not be a popular opinion with other Christians, but it is simply what I believe and how I live my life.
  9. Yes, sorry, Porter, I had my facts wrong before. I didn't remember that the Big 10 actually moved to guaranteeing the four-year schollies. However, according to this article (http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/11666316/big-ten-guarantees-four-year-scholarships-student-athletes), it seems there's some wiggle room to nullify the agreement if the kid is a knucklehead either out in the community, in the classroom, or within the team/athletic department. I very much doubt you'd ever see a situation where a kid and a coach would square off and be at odds on a scholarship. If the kids a knucklehead, the coach has a legitimate reason to want him gone, and the kid probably wants gone. If they're a good kid but just don't pan out athletically, they would most likely either stick around as a backup or initiate the conversation about transferring so they can look to get playing time in a better situation. I don't think there has been too much of trimming the fat in regards to subpar players being forced out, at least at NU. I could see Trai being the latter situation. If he's a bit farther down on the depth chart (especially if he is below the two CO redshirts) and a bit too small for what we desire in a corner, who would it shock to see him look to go play elsewhere? He seemed to have a heck of a lot of talent out of HS and I'm sure he could latch on elsewhere. I always wanted him to become the next Fonzie here, though, FWIW.
  10. Didn't realize I was opening up this Pandora's box of cynicism Just noticed that Jack was one of the recruits getting the least amount of chatter since he committed early, is probably safe to stick with his committal, and isn't necessarily all-world, five-star world beater. Figured I'd throw on the kids tape and see what he brought to the table. Goes without saying, but I came away impressed. He was more athletic and smoother than I expected. Figured I'd give our boy some props and spread the good news, when there's been very little on the recruiting front lately. GBR!
  11. Now he was sharing the message with the masses? Matt 6:5-6 says he was doing it wrong. What are the verses where Jesus encouraged evangelizing and how did He suggest doing it? And where he suggested public displays of prayers in a stadium full of people? Yeah, Jesus was big on toeing the line with authorities. "Give unto Caesar . . ." Mark 16:15-16 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Just a couple examples, but I could come up with multitudes more if you really want me to. It's readily apparent if you digest a bit of the Bible that Jesus encourages spreading the faith with whomever possible and whomever will receive it. He does not set guidelines on when and where to do so, but to do so whenever the opportunity presents itself. While he does warn against "praying like a hypocrite" in Matthew 6, it is my interpretation that there he is addressing how we choose to pray as an individual and that quote is less apt to apply to group prayers. Again, the overarching goal is to practice and share the faith, and having a short prayer with other believers is a good way to do that. Matthew 6 reads very much like Matthew 23 below, where he refers to the Pharisees as hypocrites as well. He chastises them for doing what they are doing for attention and admiration as opposed to true divine intentions. This is NOT what the coach was attempting to do by having a postgame prayer. He was trying to practice and share his faith to those who would receive it, and not force it upon anyone else. Matthew 23: 1-12 A Warning Against Hypocrisy 23 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. 5 “Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries[a] wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others. 8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. It is sad that we've gotten so PC as a society that people are becoming afraid to do anything remotely encroaching on controversial ground. As soon as they do, someone is bound to get butthurt and stretch the Constitution as far as possible in an attempt to bring the hammer down on the offending party, no matter how innocuous their actions. I do take serious issue with the fact that people are now trying to use the Constitution not to protect their own rights, but to try to dictate the playing field to others as well. Especially in seemingly harmless situations such as these.
  12. I could be wrong, but I believe that in football, the scholarships are of e one-year renewable variety. It gives the coaches and players a chance to sit down and evaluate things after a season to see if the desire to renew the scholly is mutual. I do believe Delaney and the Big 10 have proposed full four year scholly agreements in the recent past as an alternative. It'd help mitigate the oversigning and more plentiful "cutting" of players from schollies in places like the SEC. The idea didn't get much traction, though. The logistics of moving to a full four-year scholly system would make it nearly impossible to recover if you miss on important guys or have a high number of busts that you then have to carry for a full college career.
  13. Well, if there was one place SJB was gonna make it as a DB, it'd be Seattle. Good for him. Hope he develops into something. I don't personally like the Seahawks, their swagger, whatever you want to call it... But damn if Carroll isn't a hell of a coach. Especially defensively.
  14. Not gonna lie, our recruiting momentum sucks compared to Michigan right now...

Landing the trio would jumpstart rethinks real quick. And then KJJ and everyone next year. Guess I'm just doubtful on Reese,, and he'd be the catalyst for the other two committing. It's just been a real long wait with nuthin' happenin.

  15. Any way you slice it, it's hard to get past this point. Why do you guys consistently try to misrepresent the talent that Bo had on the team and act like we won't notice? He had NFL caliber running backs EVERY YEAR he was here. He had Suh and some of the nastiest DBs early on and one of the best LBs in the NFL. He won 9 games last year and had three most talented players on the team drafted. Three cornerstone players the offense and defense were absolutely built around. But by all means, continue to act like Bo coached with no talent.
  16. Not good that ESPN has us rated the highest, IMO. Most consider them to be the goofiest of the scouting services.
  17. I guess I'll wait and see how it plays out. One extremely frustrating aspect of TA is that he is never comfortable giving up on a play and tossing the ball away. He's always looking to extend and improvise a play downfield. When it works, it's a ton of fun to watch. When it fails, we usually turn the ball over, or narrowly avert doing so. Here's hoping POB doesn't have this tendency. Most assume he want because he's the better "pocket passer." I'm skeptical, but still hope, that TA can improve in this arena over the offseason. It would help if he could find a way to iron out his mechanics going in the crapper when he's uncomfortable and reverting to falling away as he releases. A lot of people assume that's not going away, either, though.
  18. This guy is 2017. Whoa, good catch. I'm missing a lot of the little things lately. Regardless, I don't think this staff is comfortable with the depth at TE yet. Sutton is gone, and next year the top 3 on the depth chart are seniors (Carter, Foster, and Cotton). Beyond that, Snyder is a RS frosh, and we'll have a trio of JR walkons. Glad they're adding bodies!
  19. Basically, I'm hoping POB comes in and lights things up from Day 1 at this point. Either way, that's a win-win for the team. Either he starts, or if he's amazing, TA knows he's probably got a short leash and will have to be on top of his game to maintain his starting spot. He really has been too turnover prone, in spite of coming up huge in other moments and winning certain games with the team on his back. The Iowa game perfectly encapsulates all that is wrong with TA as a QB. If I had my druthers, and TA was our starter, I'd run an offense very similar to what Auburn did with Nick Marshall or Cam Newton years ago. Not pure pocket passers, Malzahn protect their weaknesses with LOT of QB run game-- QB power, QB lead, zone read, everything. Lots of designed stuff.. We saw some of that this year, just not enough to maximize TA the runner -AND- mitigate the risk of TA the passer, IMO. Neither of those Auburn guys were afraid to take off if things broke down during a pass play, either. My one hesitation is that TA is not as big as those guys. I've long been wary that TA wouldn't hold up for a full season being used in this manner. But at this point, what do we have to lose?
  20. Apparently this guy is considering visiting soon. It would appear the staff would like to take another at TE. Personally I'm hopeful for Poljan. Would sure like to get Tennison in for a visit though!
  21. Just watched Jack's Senior tape. Pretty underrated recruit, IMO. He has good size and bulk to come in and help at TE early. A little bit on the lighter size, but not small by any means. One inch taller than Carter... really hope we continue to load up on BIG TEs so we can start to exploit some mismatches. Despite being a bigger guy, he's pretty dang agile. He's got good awareness of his position when making sideline catches, and weaves pretty well through traffic when he was thrown shorter stuff. His school must run a spread, because he was lined up out wide quite a lot. Looked good catching and running with WR screens. REALLY like his YAC ability. Seems to be a BEAST to bring down after making the catch. Several times on that short (3 min) film, he just ran right through weak tackle attempts aimed at his legs and kept rolling. He looked good cutting and running in the open field as well, so I'd say he has decent vision. Did well in one on one situations down the field. High pointed a goal line fade over a smaller CB in the second play on the film. Seems like he'd be a good fit at TE or we could even flex him out to WR in certain situations like we used to do with Mike McNeill back in the day. Really glad we have this guy in the fold! Can't wait to see him don the scarlet & cream!
  22. Shoot, with our depth at QB (rather, lack thereof), we ought to take Tony as a utility knife type player and give him a shot at QB. At the very least, he'd be able to see over the line. If it doesn't work out, he could be a terror with his size and athleticism.
