  1. Too bad, too. We were all SOOO excited to land Cooper a couple years ago too. I remember going into this year we were excited about his rumored switch to LB. Now that spot is looking quite crowded for the forseeable future. I guess I thought Rose might switch to S just to get on the field earlier, with our full CB cupboard next year. But if he's as good as everyone says he is he'll get plenty of PT this fall anyway. And one would think he'd have the spot locked down the two years after that as well.
  2. Looks to be Cam Meredith part Deux. Long strider, not especially athletic off the edge... He doesn't seem to have much lateral agility. But that's hard to do at 6'6" and 260 lbs. Just ask Sean Fisher. However, pretty physical kid. Not sure of the level of competition... but he's pretty stout in run support. Sets the edge really well... Took on double teams well and still made plays. Laid the wood on the QB a couple times and blew up some kid who never saw it coming on a blindside hit at about 30 second mark. We must really be looking to upgrade our DE spot, with the FLA offers and this guy. Coaches must not have a lot of confidence Okuyemi, Ashburn, or Vestal will contribute much down the road. If I picked one to help down the road it would be Vestal for sure. Not sure the story on the other two guys. What say you EZ? Is this guy worth an offer? Offers from a lot of the Pac-12 bottom feeders. He's probably ours if we want him.
  3. Because WR is so loaded and the DB crew is not (at least in youg DB's), I'd like to see several WR go over to the DB crew. Moore was a standout HS safety (or corner, can not remember which). So was Tariq Allen. These two, at the least, should switch over to the defense where we are in desperate need of athletes. With the RB position stacked too... take a young one and move them to the defense as well. I hate to see positions w/o great athletes and then other positions with so many athletes that great athletes never see the field being buried in the depth charts. Spread that speed and athleticism over as many positions as possible. We do have quite a bit of talent in the defensive backfield as well. Green, Jean-Baptiste, Evans, Rose, Mitchell, Jackson, Cooper. I realize that there is little experience at safety but I would think defensively, that DB is the least of our concerns. It is interesting to me how there seems to be more talk growing of us moving to 3-4. I have no inside sources but seems that more people have brought this up in the last 2-3 wks. Is this just talk or is there a possibility of the change? I completely disagree that DB is the least of our concers, paricularly at CB, for the remainder of this recruiting class. In fact, I believe CB ought to be one of the top, if not THE top priority as we close out this year's recruiting cycle. Of the depth you mentioned above, every pure CB prospect except for Mitchell graduates after this next season. The coaches have been talking about Jackson possibly being a safety, and unless I'm mistaken, I think it's an open question as to whether Rose will be a safety or CB. I'd like to see enough depth at CB that the coaches can put Rose and Jackson at whatever position they will best thrive in rather than having their hands forced by depth issues. Safety is a whole other animal. We are already losing all of our most experienced players this year, but we are much deeper in unproven/semi-proven young player with potentially high upside (Cooper, Walker, Alexander, McWilson, Gerry, Singleton, maybe Rose, maybe Jackson). Considering we often play at least three CBs at a time in passing situations, and we don't even have three known scholarship players at CB come 2014 and none yet in this recruiting class, I don't know how it could be considered " the least of out worries." As far as moving some WR to CB, I'm all for it. I don't like the idea of coaches recruiting a player at one position, then telling them they have to switch once they are here. I'd like to see the moves be voluntary, allowing the free market to work its magic. If a WR doesn't see a whole lot of PT in their future and wants to move to a position with less depth, let them. But we are stacked at corner going into next season. As far as the immediate future goes, we're set. Also, you forgot Harvey Jackson on your list of safeties. And who is Walker??? If you mean Dom Walker from this year, he's a WR. I'd imagine CJax steals a starting spot next year. This kid is THAT athletic. You saw flashes in his ST play this year... He laid the wood and was always near the ball. I'm really REALLY glad he worked so hard to qualify and get on the team. He's just pure football player and I think he's got a HELL of a future ahead of him. I would think that Rose perhaps gets moved to S this next season to get him on the field, if he is as good as advertised. This move may be out of necessity just to put the best athletes on the field. I could see him starting at the other safety spot for a year and transitioning back to the corner spot after the year is over, in order to bolster CB depth, and since it's his natural position. I don't know that they'd want to jerk the kid around like that and not let him settle in. Perhaps he just stays at S for the rest of his NU career. That wouldn't be bad as long as he's playing well. And, we also have Davie at CB, who I've heard some good things about. So, at the VERY least, we have Davie and Mitchell after next season. I'd imagine someone(s) is going to have to switch to CB in the future, unless we snag some CB's in the home stretch in this recruiting class, or load up on game-ready studs there next year. It's certainly going to be fun to watch.
  4. Guys... Who's questioning the offer?? In fact, THIS seems to be quite to the contrary... Anyway, I trust Bo and Co to pick out their DB's as well. They've been great at evaluating talent there so far. Some misses, but most big hits there in recent years. At the rate we're going, we're going to totally outclass most B1G teams athletes in a year or two, with the possible exceptions of OSU and Michigan. I like the guys they're acquiring a lot. We've got a packed backfield right now and it will be great to see how that shakes out next season. Oh, and adding Willis would be terrific.
  5. Ain't too many 6'6" centers out there. None, actually. I'd bet he's an OT.
  6. We all want to win the big one. A BCS game. A national championship. But we want to do it with our integrity. If it involves waiting for years where our schedule sets up favorably and a few break hopefully go our way (like 2013!!), that's what we'll have to do. I'm perfectly content being in legitimate NC contention every handful of years as opposed to 3 times in 4 years or every year or what have you... If it means we have to become dirtbags and start treating the young kids we bring onboard as members of a family like numbers instead of people.
  7. Well, they didn't. Arky can back the f#$* off. They're still bitter about losing Seisay. Hope they're ready to lose again.
  8. I seriously want to know what is eventually going to put an end to the SEC's bullcrap recruiting tactics. I know it's all about money, so it's unlikely to change. But it's honestly destroying a lot of the parity in college football. Why do people think Bama whooped on ND so badly on Monday? It's NOT because Saban is THAT good of a coach. He's a good coach... but not THAT good. It's because they've been taking all comers as far as recruits go and figuring out the numbers later. It just really sickens me and I'd imagine a lot of other fans to hear ESPN and the media at large suck the SEC's nuts so bad when they're so blatantly cheating in order to build depth and talent that other teams can't. I just hope somehow we find a solution to this crap... and SOON!
  9. I felt he wasn't going to be commiting to us anyways. We can bring in the TE from the SEC country that Alabama is showing interest in as well and see what he can do. Maybe he will be commiting on Sunday or next week? Hopefully anyways. It will be interesting to see what kind of tweets come from Vandenburg if we do end up taking Carter after we told BV that we would not be taking a JUCO TE. Bear in mind Carter is a HS TE. But it'd still get underneath my skin a bit if I was Vandenburg. However, it is much better to pull the offer before he's committed than wait to do it. This way can play out his recruitment fairly.
  10. Hoping for the best on Dan... He's a really good lineman and we need depth on our lines in the worst way. That said, if he bolts for Michigan I wouldn't waste one ounce of energy worrying about it. We've got to have kids who want to be here, and want to be a part of the great Nebraska family. We've seen too many players leave lately because they weren't happy here. If Dan is happy here, great. If not, let him be somewhere he wants to be. Let's just hope he realizes that NU is really the best place for him.
  11. Agreed. She really got the RAW end of that deal. ANDDDD.... Gross.
  12. That was a whole different deal. Kid did not do some things that the staff let him know he needed to do in order to keep his offer (a lot like a MInter this year) and thus the offer got pulled. Turns out it was a good decision: http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/gamelog/_/id/521710/shawn-bodtmann
  13. I'd think Rose, Bando, and all the other guys along with the coaches should be able to keep him in the fold. BB is such a ******* ****. We need to form a lynch mob. Only, instead of lynching him, let's all go to Arky and kick him in the balls. Who's in Huskerboard?
  14. I don't think he has any BETTER chance of playing time here than LSU. Les Miles will put the best players he has on the field regardless of class. If Priest comes in that good, he will see a lot of time no matter which school he attends. Assessing his chances of early PT may be difficult due to the number of players (including Willis himself) where there is uncertainty about their ultimate position. Jackson and Rose have both been discussed as possible safeties or CBs. Willis himself could be a CB or a safety. There may still be some uncertainty as to whether Heard remains at RB or switches back to CB. If Rose and Jackson both end up as safties and Heard remains a RB, we will be extremely thin at CB come 2014 and Willis ought to get all the playing time he can handle. I don't think Heard is going anywhere. Most people have said if not for Heard's groin injury he would've stolen a lot more carries from Ameer this year.
  15. Hey, a one Prince Amukamara came to NU as an unpolished 3 star RB recruit. That worked out pretty well for our secondary... Just saying.
  16. I've asked this before: So what can they do about this? We were so close to beating Georgia-GEORGIA! The same team that was only .15 seconds away from being able to play for the national championship!! Yet to read some of the garbage on this board you would think we are the worst team that ever played the game! Our defense is NOT horrible. They played well against Georgia. If Ameer hadn't fumbled we could've very well upset them. We had them sweating for 3 quarters. I'm proud that we are in this group of teams that have won at least 9 games since 2008. That IS elite company. Ok, so we have a lot of work to do but it's getting done. Just think how much Taylor has improved since he started! I don't mind CONSTRUCTIVE criticism of our team but I get so tired of people coming on to the board and dissing our team because they rarely have suggestions as to who we could get to come here and do better and they seldom make any suggestions as to what they think would make this team better. So, I'm asking again: What can they do about this problem of implosion? I think you misunderstood me ladyhawke. I'm a big homer and want us to win every game. I was pleased with the effort against UGA. It was not a blowout as I feared, and I'm pleasantly surprise Ethan we parlayed into recruiting momentum. But To me the Cap 1 Bowl is not as big a game as the B1g Championship, so it didn't mean as much. I don't know what Bo can do to figure out this problem and eliminate the blowouts. I'd look really hard at getting more athletes on D and ball security. Two great places to start. I think he's got to make his system graspable to the point that frosh or sophomore that are superior athletes can get on the field and make plays within the scheme. And the fumbles and muffed punts HAVE TO STOP. Two years now we've been near the worst in the nation at this. But, truth be told, it's not my job to figure that out. I'm not getting the fat coaching salary. It's BO's job. And if HE can't figure it out I don't know how successful he'll be as far as winning the big one at NU.
  17. We gauged his interest, he went to Oregon State. I wasn't a fan. There's a kid from Cali as well we are looking at and haven't offered. He's on the skinnyth side. Ofa Hautau was the name of th kid. Just saw it in rivals database when I was checking to see Collins' rating. Is the Cali kid JUCO or HS EZ? If its a reach and he's not a good get I'd think the staff would be good wit just Collins and Maurice this cycle. Is this not the case? As scary as our depth is right now, between VV, Curry, and th two Dom this year, we have finally gotten some really solid DTs for the future. VV was always a beast, but I personally had concerns about how soon Curry could contribute. Seemed a bit undersized at first to me, but hell we walked into his commit a** backward by hiring Kaz so can't complain. And if my memory serves he was mentioned to get PT before VV this year. What do you make of these four? Do a quick ranking of them? Know I'm not EZ but ranking these 4 I would go as follows: 1a. Curry 1b. Valentine 3. Collins 4. Juice Thx Hedley. Appreciate it. I'd personally have VV ahead of Curry probably, but until they play and we see it on the field. It is really a moot point. You don't seem to piss me off as much as the rest of the board. You did in the beginning, but you've gotten loads better IMO.
  18. Is it weird that every time I hear "Fat Bottomed Girls" by Queen I immediately think of Mike Leach??
