  1. When this defense grows some balls. I feel we're making process. I believe we now have some type of fleshy growth down there. It could be developing... Does this mean the Camstache is a classic overcompensation technique?
  2. Where would you have given him more time? He played in the fourth against UTC, played in the fourth against Wyoming and had a whole quarter against Minnesota. We haven't exactly put ourselves in a position this year to get our back ups into games...and you still need to get your starters enough playing time. Generally speaking, teams keep their starters in throughout most of the third quarter even in blowouts. If Martinez and Co. had been able to score touchdowns on our third quarter drives, our backs up could have gotten into the game earlier. Instead, we obviously took our foot off the gas pedal and our players slacked off a little bit, which is frustrating to watch as a fan. I don't care how bad a team is - you want to put up as many points as you can. If you're winning by 30...try and win by 40. Call the dogs off later if that's the case. But when it's the third quarter and you still have your starters in you have to be playing with the intent to score. When you get your back ups in, then call conservatively. Until then it should be high-octane the entire time. You've posted whole quarter three times. He had one series. He then came in and handed off three times as time expired. As Herc noted up a few posts. He didn't get more time because of the third quarter. Had they punched it in early the third he would have had some PT. It didn't happen that way. If you're making a point about his post and you quote it for all to see, make sure your statement is accurate. I'm sure you really just meant the whole thread had alluded to whole quarter at least 3 times, right GBGR? I'm just giving you a hard time, man. Generally speaking, teams keep their starters in throughout most of the third quarter even in blowouts. Heck, Wisconsin keeps their 1st strings in the entire game even if it's a blowout. It's often said that the back up QB is the most popular player on the team. I know I was wanting Ron Kellog III to come in after Carnes came in, because man, Carnes can't do a damn thing for this offense. Should Carnes have gotten more playing time already this year? Probably, no way should the game against Fresno State be that close--but other than that Carnes has came in when there was the opportunity for him to come in and play. Sure, if Taylor goes down we'll find it tough to win football games from here on out. But what team can put their back up QBs in the game and be able to operate at the same efficiency level as they did with their starting QB? I think for a lot of teams it's easier than others. Teams like us, or Michigan, or Stanford, or Boise State are going to suffer if their Star QB's get injured. I think it's a lot easier for teams with less marvelous QB's to have the backup come in, as the backup may be just as good as the starter, and the dropoff in talent is very marginal.
  3. But seriously, BRI is a huge Damon Wayans fan. I think the reason we did not appear to play a complete game has more to do with backups being in the game and everyone knowing the game was more or less over at halftime, barring some miracle Gopher comeback/complete Husker collapse (of Ohio State proportions ). When we put our untested backups in, of course execution is going to suffer to some degree. Look no further than Carnes... he bore the deer in headlights look was night. When you compound that with Beck trying to call a conservative, chew clock type of game... We do alright but we struggle to continue to put points on the board. We chew clock, but drives stall and the number on the scoreboard stays the same. Once Beck and Co learn how to stay conservative and still put together drives that culminate in points, it will be a beautiful day for this offense. Then we will begin to put teams away and snuff out any hope they have of starting a comeback.
  4. Lol @ Oklahoma's pain. Dude with his face down after missed field goal. Nesslar's reaction was PRICELESS. "He hit it off the upright! OH NO!!!" He sounded so shocked. :D

  5. Dang it... Posting a video is not working for me today. Do you still put the URL between boxes? That is not embedding the video correctly, only a URL (no link). I had a good one too
  6. That would've been the class of 2008... Baker.
  7. Jeez... Bo and Co. really are not sitting on their heels when it comes to filling this class at the LB spot... Apparently they are not going to churn out the regular old, "we've got some good guys who just need to step up and execute better" line... They must fully realize we really need to upgrade the caliber of LB's we have. On top of that, Compton and Fisher will be seniors next year... So even the guys we do have, unimpressive as they may be, are almost gone. I'm hoping Roach or Slaughter step up in the future. Because, seriously, after our current three starters, we have those two, Whaley (also a senior next year), and Santos. That's about it. i didn't realize how thin we were until I started actually thinking about it.
  8. He's listed as a sophomore on Riverside's roster, would that make him a 2 for 2 guy? I guess the only other options are 3 for 2 or 3 for 3 if he redshirted his frosh year, which I would doubt.
  9. How does he know the cops he was yelling at were involved? That would be like me yelling at him for what happened at Guantanamo Bay. There was nothing peaceful about what he was doing. He made it very clear he was ready to get violent. Just watching the backgrounds in the video, the cops were there doing something, and based on time frame the OWS would fit. You don't get large groups of cops just standing around for no good reason. And no point did I think the Marine was threatening violence. Loud does not equal violence. Nor does calling someone else a coward. He has spend time in the service defending the nation he loves, and clearly felt the rights that he put his life on the line for were being infringed upon by the police. And from what I have seen in the news, he would be right. Agree with strigori. He may have been fired up, but he clearly was not about to get violent with those cops.
  10. Ahh Fireman Ed... What a douche.

    1. Excel

      Excel

      super douche

  11. Well, either NYPD didn't see the point in trying to talk back, or they were just stupefied. Either way, kind of a lose-lose for them. If they talk back, they're jackasses for disrespecting a soldier with a valid point. If they don't, they look like they just got totally owned. I will put my feelings about this in these terms: I am an RA at UNO this year, and recently talked with two girls who had two of their roommates (four person rooms) moved out due to a dispute with a boyfriend. The boyfriend was a veteran, and when the now-gone girl and the girls still here got into it, he came out and started yelling at them about how he was a solider and didn't fight overseas to come back to have his girlfriend disrespected like this. In that case, he ticked me off. I thought he was definitely wrong. That is in no way relevant to the situation, and used his service as a leg up in a personal matter. It's such a cheap move to think military service is a halo that can be used to protect one in every facet of life. However, in this case, I side with the soldier. In lieu of knowing exactly how they were protesting (whether it was appropriate or not remains to be seen), but he's sticking up for American people exercising their first amendment right. This is a constitutional matter, not a personal one, and I applaud the guy for standing up for them.
  12. Heard an interview with Crouch on USC today... Got to feel bad for the guy. He was out of football since 2007, and to come back this year only to hurt his knee in likely the UFL's final season... Just too bad. He said he was really looking forward to playing this year too.

  13. Classic video I remember from my high school psych class a couple years ago... we had an old school teacher. Anybody remember seeing this?
  14. Part of it shows the staff knows it won't be a cake walk getting Beaver out off the west coast. Another part of it(and probably the bigger concern) is the coaches have realized a position that at the beginning wasn't thought of being a position of need, now is. There is a need for help in the back seven of the defense. Go throw out a large net and see what prospects you can pull in, I like the thought. Agreed 100% Paul. We should try and take 3 CB's in this class, with one of them being a JUCO. Sorry, a bit off topic, but am I to understand the final addition to you most wanted list is a high as a kite smilie face? He wouldn't be a good addition to our team if he's trippin balls all the time, Speed.
  15. Shoot... Me thinks Illinois doing well this year + Our thusfar questionable D have combined for the perfect storm of giving VV something to actually think about. Illinois futile loss to OSU yesterday didn't help their chances. Hopefully they continue to fall off, and we make the CCG. I would think that would help VV see the light and come
  16. Lol just watched Chip Kelly scream at some students, "Hey, will you SHUT UP!!" who were disturbing the post game interview. Erin Andrews thanked him.

  17. Interesting article, but note, it is from 2010. Not that it matters. I noticed when it said, "Two games into his junior year, Fuller does not have any scholarship offers yet on the table..." or some approximation of that.
  18. He has not committed, and I don't see anything in this thread that says he's N. It will be a battle for TJ, and I don't expect us to win. So freaking confused by this thread right now. I believe CU SUCKS was referring to Deion Jones, who is currently committed to NU. Aspeedlin, were you referring to Tyrone Neal when you said "TJ," and perhaps just made a small mental slip and combined Tyrone with Jones? If not I am sooo confused. He mist be talking about Deion, my mistake then. And yeah TJ is Tyrone, just gave him a nickname thats all. Why don't you like our chances with him Speed? I guess I'd agree since we've never recruited PA very well... at least that I can remember. I'm only 19 but I've been following recruiting since Baker's class, which was the horrible 2008 recruiting class where things fell apart... this will be my fifth year. We still got some good contributors from that class, interestingly enough. Have we ever had a big time player out of PA? Shawn Bodtman. And a +1 for you, sir. Well played. What a PR sh*tfest that move became.
  19. And one that quite possibly will end up costing Reid his job. He had a chance to scour the market and find a credible defensive mind, or even turn it over to Jim Washburn, our DLine coach and one of the most respected defensive minds in the game. He could've thrown big offers around to the top DC's already out there, and tried to lure one away from their current team. Instead he goes with Castillo. From everything I can gather, he gets the utmost respect from his past pupils, is a great teach and O-Line coach. That doesn't transfer over to the defensive side of the ball, Andy... It blows my mind as well. And if Castillo is fired partway through the season, it's not like we even have anyone to replace him and take over. It's not like Reid can handle coaching the D. If they don't make the playoffs somehow, in my mind, they're both hosed. I just pray we don't have another mediocre 8-8 season that's good enough to keep Andy around for some godforsaken reason but not good enough for a good draft pick or a playoff birth.
  20. I really don't have another board I am a part of, as Huskerboard really puts most other boards to shame. The one Eagles board I very rarely visit is ok, but I haven't even registered as a member, so I can't post.... so that tells you about how much I care about that board. Anyway, I just felt like blowing off some steam somewhere, and this seemed appropriate. It does not bother me that we are 1-4, I can take losses. I remember back to the year EVERYONE got hurt and we went 6-10. But it is the WAY the Eagles are losing. I don't know if anyone saw any of the games against the Giants, the 49ers, or the BIlls earlier today... but the WAY we are pissing these games down our legs is just so mind numbingly frustrating as a fan. We have a dearth of talent on both sides of the ball, with some problem areas that could get better, like any other team. But the mental mistakes this team makes are just retarded. Jason Avant fumbled twice today while getting tackled, once on our final offensive drive. Maclin fumbled on our last drive last week. And then we stop them this week after that fumble, force a 4th and 1, and Juqua Parker F*#&ING jumps offsides to give them the win. Also, for anyone that saw the 49ers game, Ronnie Brown got stuffed at the half yard line on 3rd down, and tries to turn around and throw, fumbling the ball and losing us any points. Even our golden boy, Alex, missded two field goals from about 35 yards. We lost by 3. This team plays fundamentally retarded football. They put the ball on the turf worse than the Huskers did last year, and can't tackle a lick. Looks like promoting your offensive line coach who's never been involved in defense IN ANY WAY was the wrong move, ANDY. Go munch another cheesesteak and eat away your pain. I seriously hope you are fired soon. Honestly, probably most disturbing of all is that I can see a lot of parallels between this heartless Eagles team and the Huskers when they are playing horribly. Can't tackle a lick, mental mistakes absolutely kill them, defense plays like confused preschoolers who were denied their snacktime juice box. Anyway, thank you for letting me sound off Huskerboard. Stay classy.
  21. Funny, gratefull, Huskers.com has TMo and Baker listed at the same weight. Only difference is Baker is 6-6 and Moore is 6-3. I agree though, Moore just plays with more intensity and ferocity when he's out there. Two very different players.I believe I am of the persuasion that Steinkuhler should've been left alone as an OT and he would've been a much bigger contributor to our team, though he has started on the D-Line for two years now, so.... I guess he must be alright : Who do you think will step up behind Steiny and Crick? We don't necessarily have a ton of HUGE guys on the DLine... The addition of 6-3, 305 Peat helps, but who's going to step up? Rome, Guy, and Thad Randle strike me as the guys who are most ready physically and ability wise to contribute.
  22. http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/55085-1-reason-im-glad-we-won/page__pid__835708&do=findComment&comment=835708 This thread has a pretty good picture of him too.
  23. Were you referring to this?? If so... I know the kid had a good game, but I don't think this is the best way to reward him...
