  1. Pat Forde just picked OU to win. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=5865590
  2. Weird, I'm in your daughter's class at UNO. That feels cool. Anyway, in lieu of getting a TV, if she wants something like that, I highly recommend finding a projector for here. Me and my buddies have one in our dorm, and it is really sweet... somewhat inexpensive compared to a TV, too. I know there was a Black Friday deal for one for $58. Much much cheaper than a new TV... although keep in mind you'll have to buy a replacement lamp for it eventually. And you'd need a VCR or something in order to plug the coaxel cable into the wall, but one of those shouldn't be too hard to wrangle up.
  3. Sorry, this is going to be one weak thread, but in a fit of ADD, I saw some video of the fight and felt the burning need to start and impromptu look-a-like thread: Cortland Finnegan: http://cache3.asset-cache.net/xc/75434197.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=77BFBA49EF878921A343B2C87A49D8F5D453082DFDDEC1EB069E2D30E2E9E5ECF464CBB274FA0EE7 Og from little known Cartoon Network show Mike, Lu and Og: Ok, not as close as I remembered. But cmon... Cut Finnegan's hair or grow Og's... dead on. Minus the nose ring and loincloth. Good thing we got rid of the -1 button...
  4. Some thoughts after reading this whole thread thoroughly (Gal darn it, is my Bio class boring!!) *Taylor's dad need to STFU and back off. His kid is 19 years old now. Same age as me. And I'm not afraid to let me dad know if I disagree with him. Causes strife occasionally, but comes with the territory of being my own man. I get the feeling Taylor's dad is one of those hyper controlling ones who have personally overseen their kid's entire grooming as an athlete, and can't ever let go, still trying to run the show even when it's clearly time for the kid to do it on his own. Generally I think those types of dads come off as mega douches, and if Taylor is afraid to stand up to his dad, I feel very bad for him... that is a situation. *I would say I'm a big fan of Taylor's appearance on the surface, a quiet kid who just gets the job done and isn't too social... I can be like that sometimes, so I can identify. But, surface appearance may not be true. The rumors about ego are starting to be too numerous to be ignored, and IF he really ripped on Cody Green when he went into the game, I lost a lot of respect for Taylor. That's seriously weak. I've ripped on Cody's butterfingers as much as anybody... His butterfingers fumbles are as hilarious to watch as they are frustrating, and their unbelievability has made his career thusfar into a blooper reel of sorts... but he tries his best. He's a damn good kid, and I for one admire the way he's dealt with being demoted to third string after being Wats' hand-picked QB, Mr. Five Star, and being dubbed the next NU Golden boy by half the state before he eve stepped on campus. Whether Cody ever starts or not, I will cheer for him whenever he steps onto the field. If Taylor bagged on him to Bo's face, he got what he deserved. That'd be an ass hat move. *I definitely agree with Husker_X's last sentence. If Taylor leaves, it was for the best for both parties. I always think that way about anyone transferring or leaving a team. If it ain't gonna work out and the writing is on the wall, move on and focus on working with what you got. *The NU QB situation is very fluid and exciting at this point. There's Jamal and possibly Bubba coming in next year (I'm hoping more and more Starling comes but thinking more and more he won't... was it Kiper (???... Can't... remember...) who said that he was the most impressive player he'd seen in high school, even besting Adrian Peterson? That's some dang high praise. Then there's Carnes. Contrary to what a poster said early about him never starting, everything I've heard has been 100% positive about the kid and him possibly pushing to start next year. Cody Green is momentum from his best game ever. And Taylor, if he can swallow his pride and put a sock in his dad, is one heck of a talent. Beyond that, we have Ron Kellogg III, a kid who is improving, and poor ol' Kody Spano, with two blown knees. Injuries have probably made that kid into the next Beau Davis. *Props to C N Red, who posted before me, made me laugh by calling Frazier on his looks. Ouch.
  5. If Staff says he's gonna get Carter here, Irie, I say we believe the kid. That'd be a solid move on his part... gotta like a kid stepping up and actually recruiting another. Especially Carter... dude's got a good frame already. Built enough to come in and help right away, especially when someones as developed as he is already gets into the NU weight room. Most high school DEs come in way underweight, just as a natural result of not being done filling out yet. This guy's got a shorter road to being D1 ready. And it sure would be nice to get a JUCO DE after missing out on the last one we recruited... Hint hint, plays for the Giants now. Woulda been nice to get that one. Also, having Damion say that should put to rest any concerns regarding the status of his commitment. Since he actually DID make it here and said that, I feel at ease about him.
  6. I see this as a very good thing. It'll address some of our D-line depth issues immediately, assuming Carter is decent enough to contribute early... which he should be. If you go back through Bo's three recruiting classes, he's been dead on for almost every single JUCO commit he's gone after. All of them... Gomes, David, Hardrick, Kinnie, Ricky Henry... They've all come in and been major contributors or even stars right away. SJB should contribute next year as well, from what we're hearing. The two whiffs have been Tyson Hetzler, who bailed, and Chase Harper, who never made it. Harper would've contributed had he made it, and Hetzler was really a holdover from Callahan's 2009 class that Bo probably felt obligated to take, regardless of his feelings on the kid's skills. So basically, if we stay away from TE's in the JUCO ranks, whoever we get is money . Obviously, it's not that easy... it might just be due to blind luck... But you've got to feel Bo knows how to pick out solid JUCO kids, as well as recruits in general. Here's a bombshell I'll gladly take credit for: Bo Pelini's recruiting > Bill Callahan's recruiting
  7. Haha I had no issue with it during the game. I just told my ma it was the "Bo cam." I knew they'd be paying close attention after last week. Also, I agree with the guys who mentioned the BSU kicker. That dude is the most hated guy in Idaho right now... out of all 22 of them.
  8. Hmm... thanks Landlord. I'm thinking that's what I'm going to do. I was also going to wait on the extra warranty, which I'll eventually get on Amazon for 48 bucks as opposed to Apple's 59. So I knew they'd replace my iPod if there was a "DEFECT," but it was my understanding before that if I messed up my iPod somehow and it wasn't just general hardware failure (i.e., I dropped it and it stopped working vs. it just ceasing to work on it's own) that they wouldn't replace it. Are you saying if I dropped it and it failed I'd get a new one?
  9. Hey guys, went out early this morning and got me some coats. Good deal... $80 for two of em. Anyway, I also need an iPod, and with it being Black Friday and all, I was curious what everybody thinks is the best deal on one. I want an iPod Touch, and I don't know who could legitimately fill up a 32 or 64 gig if they're just using it for music or movies. If they treat it like a computer maybe... Maybe someday I'll have to buy a 64 GB one and try and fill it up with porn, just for the challenge . Man would that be a huge waste of time. Sorry for rambling... Anyway, point is, I just want an 8 gig. I'm thinking the best deal is to buy a refurbished one directly from Apple online for 150 bucks. It comes refurbished, guaranteed, with a new battery, a big selling point. It says "Previous generation," for the model I'm looking at, which I assume means its a 2nd gen one, because it has 36 hrs. of music playback life, same as 2G. Also, it'd come with a one year warranty, which I really only care about to get the battery replaced. They'll do it for up to 6 months after purchase for free, and then from 6 months to 1 year I read there was a 30 dollar processing fee. But you can buy an extra Apple Protection Plan for 48 bucks on Amazon, which would allow me to get the battery replaced up to 2 years after purchase date. You can buy that up til a year after purchase date. Confusing, but here's a summary: I'm thinking about getting the 150 dollar 2G refurb iPod Touch, and then possibly getting the 48 dollar protection plan to extend the warranty (to get bad battery replaced eventually) to two years. Good deal? What say you? I'm curious if you all think this is the best deal, and whether the extra warranty would be a waste of cash.
  10. 1) I'm sure your TV doesn't care one way or the other. 2) Agree I'd like to see some 1st/2nd down passing. 3) ??? 4) I think Cody Green has been a little beaten down by the way he's been used this year. Being stuck in when we're on the opposing 1 yard line (twice that I know of), being pulled in favor of a limping beat up Martinez, being pulled when anything slightly bad happens. No wonder he's had confidence issues. Just figure out what his game is and let him play within it. Don't force him to run the Martinez offense and he'll be fine. 5) Doesn't mean he didn't have different injury. Swollen hand was what I was hearing, And Rex is way more valuable as an RB than as a QB. #5 was more of a joke than serious. Looked decent throwing though. #4-- I also forgot to mention, aside from the fumble in the first quarter that was on Caputo, unless I missed one later on, Cody didn't butterfinger away the ball today. His fumbles are seriously the most frustratingly hilarious turnovers in college football today, for my money. #3-- I was basically just trying to say I'm tired of Watson calling screen like passes to waiting receivers in the flats as opposed to shots down the field to moving receivers downfield. Downfield passing would help our offense... think of Curenski's near TD catch. We should air it out more like that. The sideline passes are asking a receiver who isn't moving, b/c he's waiting for the ball, to catch the pass, turn downfield, and accelearte, usually around a waiting defender, to gain yardage. That don't work real good. Anybody else think so?
  11. Beebe>>> What a lame excuse. He didn't even try to come up with something halfway decent sounding.
  12. Exactly what I was thinking. Probably had a little chat with his bosses, much like Bo with Dr. Tom this week. Oh well... did a better job this week. They even made me laugh, when Franklin said, "Deepest penetration by the Buffaloes all afternoon..."
  13. 1) I'm gonna scream at the TV every time I see an offensive play call I don't like, regardless of whether or not a "Wats is an offensive genius and has everything planned exactly as he wants it" argument exists (it doesn't). 2) I called for us to call some dang plays in any other formation besides the Shotgun Zone Read with Cody under center, and surprise surprise... it was mostly successful all night (esp. when the starters were still in). 3) Cody Green ain't a broke QB. He actually did a fine job playing in a traditional offense, under center, as opposed to that horizontal slip passing crap that Wats loves. I don't get it... for as long as he's been in the game, he still doesn't understand two fundamental, easy things: 1) If you try and throw that slip pass to the slot man (like a screen without the blocker), it runs a high chance of getting tackle fd for a loss, no gain, or only one or two yards, and that is a wasted play! 2) Being so dang predictable on first and second down hurts our offenses potential. You'd think with his experience he'd realize that a throw on first or second down to mix it up could help our team. Being totally vanilla, predictable, and calling the same handful of running plays does not do that. (although at least they work some of the time). 4) Cody actually took off his skirt today and ran the zone read like a man. Ran through arm tackles and threw his big frame around... finally. He looked like a deer galloping (very long strides) on that one scramble tonight. 5) That rumor about Zac Lee's labrum is obviously bull, which leads me to wonder why the coaches promoted Cody to 2nd string. Possibly to prep him for the future, since they knew Lee'd be gone next year? However I find it odd they'd risk losing games or even lose them (ISU, aTm) when they might've had a healthy Lee on the sidelines. Also, Rex should be in a competition with Cody for 2nd string QB. All I got.
  14. SIAP, but lol at Franklin... "Deepest penetration of the afternoon by the Buffalos." Sorry, I gotta head back to either grade now. Later guys.
  15. Pitt is embarrassing themselves AGAIN on ABC right now.

  16. I had the privledge of attending the Coaches clinic at UNL this summer. Now I worked with mostly the O-line and D-line during that time AKA, Barney and Carl. Barney explained a few things that they did change as far as technique goes and that pre-Arizona game they went to wider gaps and a different pulling technique that were successful. So this year has been a learning experience for not just the new recruits but also some of the veterens. Now I know that this shouldn't even be an issue this late into the season but you can see the effects of the constant playcalling and game plan changing that takes place week to week that these kids cannot get into a constant rythem when you put all your eggs into one basket AKA making the zone read your bread and butter. One thing that got brought up post Callahan is that the offense was a jack of all trades but a master of none. You can see that still today, this offense lives and dies by the big play. You've seen it in every game this year, we break a long run/pass for a big play. We fail to have a big play and we get held to little to no points. We do not have a smash mouth footbal team that can pick up the tough yards without the obvious pass play. I'm not trying to bash Watson or Cotton but when viewers at home can tell what you are calling before you even call it then your game plan is pretty predictable. This O-line of ours is better in pass protection than run protection, fact. How many times do we really see the O-line dominate past the first level? How many times does a Guard pull and not get to his block fast enough? That is one thing that Osbourne really excelled at was the O-line dictating the play of the offense. Do I think the coaching is the issue, yes. Do I feel the players are an issue, yes. Do I think it can all be fixed without someone being fired, yes. But this is something that can be fixed in time as long as the STAFF comes together and identifies the issues and come up with a way to resolve them. Staff consistency breeds success, its a fact we just need to be patient and allow them to learn and develope properly. Great breakdown, man. Thanks for the insight. I've come to the conclusion, after bashing Cotton mercilessly all of last year and calling for his head, then this year thinking he many have turned a corner after the first three games and then the Mizzou game, then realizing he didn't, that Barney is merely an adequate line coach who may be better suited as an O coordinator at a small time school like ISU than here. He does an ok job with the linemen, but isn't inspiring in any way whatsoever. Our guys do doo a good job in pass pro, but they have never been able to consistently dominate teams week after week for a whole season like we did back in the Pipeline days under Milt. What needs to happen is that we need to part ways with Cotton, Wats, and Gilmore, the last three holdovers, and then have T.O. be extremely involved in selecting the new coaches, especially the offensive coordinator and O Line coach. If there's one thing that man knew how to do, it was implement a successful offensive attack, and his 100% required a successful O Line. So he made sure he had a quality position coach there. I'd think he'd know how to pick one out again. The reason I think we need a fresh start in those three spots is because the last two years have been very disappointing offensively. Too many damn moments on offense. I realize last year we didn't have the pieces to light the world on fire, with a ton of O Line injuries and still a very young, inexperienced offense, and a human turnover machine at wideout, but Wats showed something that is inexcusable as a coordinator-- an inability to get out of his own way. The two moments that particularly highlight our struggles last year that stick out in my mind are Niles fumbling twice IN ONE PLAY as he headed into the endzone in the ISU game, and in the B12 championship game, after our D picked off McCoy and got the ball near (if not already in) field goal range, and Wats calls a deep bomb to Niles that gets picked off-- first play. Our offense does not remember fundamentals at all, as shown by all the turnovers in the ISU game last year, and the ridiculous fumbles numbers this year. I just yearn for some consistency on offense, a team that does not have multiple personalities, and a team that executes fundamentals, like we had under Dr. Tom. And that WILL NOT HAPPEN under this offensive staff. Ever. Period. I'm serious. Wats' offense can be flashy and look unstoppable at times, but it cannot give us CONSISTENCY.
  17. Yeah, but velocity alone is not enough to make one a great pitcher. Ask Charlie Sheen without his glasses from Major League how far that'll get him.
  18. ...AND...most importantly...we'll probably get Gilmore back!. We won't be just 'good' at WR next year, we'll be GRRRRRRREAT! Thank you, Tony the Tiger. Wow, I was going to ask whether SJB was redshirting this year. Forgot he was a 4 for 4 guy. Still a good situation there though... a lot more time than most JUCO guys. I am excited to see Kenny Bell and Enunwa mature and hopefully come into their own at the position. Kinnie is an absolute monster. So glad we picked him up two years ago. I'm starting to wonder whether Khiry will ever contribute at receiver... I guess we'll see next year with two starters gone. I've given up on "Hands" Gilleylen.
  19. Thank you!!!!!! Exactly what I was going to say bro. It was not so long ago we had a coach who, on top of being a terrible head football coach, never showed an ounce of passion or fire about his team. It was as if he didn't really care about the outcome of the game. The one bit of excitement he ever did show was a bit of a dumb*$$ move anyway, "Throat slashgate." I'll take Bo, rants and all, over that anyday. It's not an either or here, Bo can still show passion without being essentially a huge jerk. You can argue and disagree with calls, but you need to find a happy medium. That's fair. You have a good point. But, the way I am, I'm not going to ask Bo to change anything about his personality just b/c he's now our head coach. Obviously, I don't want him racking up 15 yarders like he did when he first got here, but I will let Bo be Bo. He may mellow with time, he may not. I'll take him either way. The only thing I care about is this: Bo Pelini > Bill Callahan
  20. Thank you!!!!!! Exactly what I was going to say bro. 21. Excerpt from ESPN's Gameday article: " 3. Does Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill give the Aggies a chance to beat Nebraska? After replacing Jerrod Johnson in the second quarter against Kansas, Tannehill is completing nearly 70 percent of his passes for 1,109 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions in just under four games. Cyrus Gray has four straight 100-yard games rushing as well. But it could be slow going against a Nebraska secondary featuring two of the best cornerbacks – Prince Amukamara and Alfonzo Dennard. Nebraska clinches the Big 12 North with a win or a Missouri loss to Iowa State. Simply answered, nope, he doesn't. Tannehill will be playing tiddlywinks at the end of the day with Landry, Blaine (twice ), Nick Fowles, Locker, and the whole crew at the Pelini Bros. QB graveyard, most likely by halftime. I do think it'll be a good game, but I think the kid will crack under the pressure of our road D. Also, reading further, number 7 and 8, respectively: 7. ACC Race 8. Big East Race
  22. Remember Oklahoma was seriously starting to hit up Aaron right as he committed to Nebraska. Obviously Bo wasn't the only coach in America that saw a lot of potential in this kid. Definitely could see him moving up the rankings when he is re-evaluated after his senior year by the services. The only thing that could hold himback in my eyes was the tweeked knee early in the season. He will not greyshirt. I do not see Davie greyshirting either. With his background being from Detroit, who knows what the families financial situation is. If they asked him to greyshirt, I easily can see him jumping ship and taking a full ride and playing time right away at a lower level. Again not saying he will, but can see it happening. Yikes. And thus the poor black kid from Detroit stereotypes commence.
  23. Science was retarded. Mine was all graphs and charts of scientific systems and questions about them. It seemed so easy and yet was my lowest or 2nd lowest score. Got a perfect 36 on English though! I wish I could will to to Braylon... 36 on English, huh? j/k Embarassing. What I meant to say was obviously that I wish I could will my tutu to Braylon.
  24. That was my thought when I initially saw this thread... That if we lost in the B12 Championship game, we'd get picked as an AT LARGE for one of the other BCS games and not the Cotton Bowl. I think this is what the OP was getting at too, he just never seemed to back it up. If that is indeed what he meant, he's got a valid point. Obviously, losing in the B12 championship would not be ideal, but would very likely pair us with an opponent superior to Pitt. I'd rather leave with some B12 hardware, though.
