  1. Any news news on Lucas front?... seems kinda quiet. I wonder if Mizzou is really all that much of a favorite now.
  2. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/...tory?id=4276196 BOUNTIFUL, Utah -- Under Armour All-American linebacker V.J. Fehoko (Kahuku, Hawaii/Kahuku) was already familiar with the recruiting process before it even began for him. Fehoko's older brother, Sam, signed with Texas Tech in the Class of 2007. Another brother, Whitley, signed with San Diego State in the Class of 2006. "When you see the process unfold as a spectator, it's exciting," V.J. Fehoko said. "But when it happens to you, it's sort of a reality check." Hawaii, Nebraska, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Utah, Texas Tech, Washington, California, UCLA, Colorado and other schools in the Mountain West and WAC have offered Fehoko a scholarship. Southern California is seriously evaluating the hard-hitting linebacker, as well. "I have no favorites," he said. "I am giving every school a chance to recruit me." Fehoko was in Lubbock, Texas, during the spring to watch his brother's spring game and he got an up-close look at the Red Raiders. This caused some speculation that he too would be casting his lot with Mike Leach's program. "The only reason I was there was to see my brother's spring game," he said. "If he had not been playing for Texas Tech, chances are I would not have been at Texas Tech visiting for that long." Still, that certainly doesn't mean the Red Raiders aren't under heavy consideration. One of the things that Fehoko is looking at is atmosphere. He says he wants to go to a place where on gameday, the "town stands still" and says that the atmosphere in Lubbock is like that. "When they beat Texas this past year, they rushed the field like three times," he said. Most of the Hawaiian prospects that talked recruiting at All-Poly expressed a strong desire to head to the mainland to play college football. V.J. has a lot of teams from the mainland in the mix for his services, but has not ruled out the University of Hawaii, where his father Vili is the unofficial mascot for Warriors football games. "I am going to give Hawaii a chance," V.J. Fehoko said. "I like Hawaii. Growing up with my dad there, I was always watching the games from the sidelines and I still feel that is home to me when I watch." Fehoko talked about the things he would be looking for in a program. "The crucial factor for me is my position coach," he said. "That's key because I will be building a relationship with him and he will be the one developing me for the next 4-5 years. I also would like to have a good relationship with the head coach for that same reason. I want to be in a good environment, too. Not some place where I can get in trouble and I can just focus on football and academics." Jeez, those bold parts really, really seem to describe our team to a tee. Imagine if he hit it off with Bo and Ek... he'd be ours to lose...
  3. That's weird. This cut to the top 5 is the first I've heard of this kid. I didn't even know he had an offer. Oh well, reel him in...
  4. He plays for Southlake (TX) Carroll, and played behind Brayden Burnett and Jackson Richards. Burnett signed with Mizzou's 2009 class and Richards is currently committed to Texas Tech. They talked about Perry during the HI.com radio show. John Talmon was pretty high on the kid and they said he raised eyebrows at camp... Burnett profiles: http://missouri.rivals.com/viewprospect.as...mp;pr_key=82973 http://michigan.scout.com/a.z?s=162&p=...amp;nid=3774749 Richards profiles: http://texastech.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=81630 http://texastech.scout.com/a.z?s=188&p...amp;nid=3024253
  5. Coleman wasn't even listed on Scout's Top 5 NE recruits list. They had S Tyler Evans listed as 2 behind A Rod. LOL yea that's right... Nebraska TOP 5...! Today they also released their Georgia Top 100 list. Just goes to show you how much of a recruiting wasteland we are in geographically, in Scouts' opinion.
  6. This is a total guess, but I have a feeling from the way they're wording the teasers... saying he's got just one more thing to "wrap up"... that he's simply finishing up summer school and may be the last one to actually make it to Lincoln. I'm almost totally sure he made the cut and is still coming though. I know for a fact he was enrolled in summer school... but who knows how long it lasts? That's probably it... they're just trying to sell subscriptions.
  7. lets not forget they are also recruiting kids from winning programs... so hopefully these incoming guys will not just accept defeat like some other teams might.
  8. Yea I was just gonna say... I hope this guy has a normal or large sized head or his parents hated him.
  9. Oh man, if Nebraska is able to snag Lucas that would be quite a recruiting coup in my opinion. To cherry pick three of the best high school prospects from state of Missouri...fantastic. I won't hold my breath though...we landed Terry and Gabbert...it seems like hoping for Lucas would be too much to ask for. But there's a long way to go between now and LOI signing day. Ok Jen, you gotta answer me this. I agree with you that they're the best three in Missouri, but where does Demien fit into the picture? Do you have any insight on his abilities and whether he'd have a shot to crack the Mizzou top 3?
  10. LOL Dundermifflinite that made my day man. I'm very pleased with the Gabbert commit... apparently, he's (skillsetwise) a clone of his bro, minus the bulk. That's ok, some of the best COLLEGE QB's are not huge. Who cares what the league wants in their QB's? Also, I think maybe we should take Robinson, perhaps just as an athlete. He's got some good size and Scout lists a 40 at 4.53. He could make a great jump ball receiver or a tight end. Lastly, let's hope lil Gab works both Lucas AND Demien... it'd be sweet to score the top 4 Mizzou recruits and you can neve have enough quality lineman.
  11. Honestly, I'm actually surprised someone likes Lloyd too. I thought people were just going to follow the stars. The kid has undeniable grit, athleticism, and a good arm. When I watched his tape for the first time I thought this kid operates extremely well without the aid a good oline (in the last half of his highlights he was getting hit every single play, and still performing). I was curious why he doesn't have more stars your thoughts? Regards Well he is a 3 star on Rivals and a 4 star on Scout, but I think from what I saw, though I am the farthest thing from an expert, he will be a 4 star across the board when all evaluations are done. I am sure that his evaluation hasn't been relooked yet hence no change in the stars. A lot of players are in this boat. I like his mobility, quickness, and toughness (not afraid of contact) when running. He also shows a pretty good arm, I thought it looked strong and accurate, seems to throw well on the move, and wasn't afraid to throw despite knowing the hit was coming (I saw this several times in the video). If the 4.55 is accurate, I think he would be a great pick up. I am wondering if anyone has seen or heard anything of what the NU staffers think or if he has camped or will camp this summer? Rivals seems to be reporting that Lloyd will visit and will decide before the start of his senior season. Visit bodes really well for us. But the question is, out of the big three, Lloyd, Robinson, and Gabbert, which one do you guys want the most. Gabbert's been long rumored to be close to commiting, but the other two are bigger, more physical, more developed. Gabbert seems to find a way to win, regardless of his stature... kinda like a Joe Ganz? We'll see what happens.
  12. I remembered that about Thad, Red Storm, but it's a really good point. It's a testament to how good the kid really is. I think he is a super sleeper prospect to become a stud. Just gotta bulk him up a little to get him closer to an everydown player. Otherwise, I see nothing wrong with bringing him in on 3rd and long as a pass rush specialist DT.
  13. It seems to me that during the last few recruiting clases (in other words, since Pelini took the reigns), we've been really reaching on our DT prospects for some reason. Don't get me wrong... most of the guys are probably deserving of offers... I'll leave that to the coaches to decide. It just seems like we've been offering a lot of unknown guys and lighter than ideal (Thad Randle comes to mind, but I have a good feeling about him) guys. You'd think with Pelini's outstanding record as a defensive coach and especially with Dorsey, Suh, it'd be easier to reel in some big name kids at DT.
  14. On rivals, there is a teaser link on the front page talking about a WR from TX visiting. Anyone know who this is...? I'm thinkin it may be Eddie Johnson, a verbal commit to Baylor. On scout, his latest article is "Wants to see Nebraska."
  15. Ward's fumble was pretty bad. It was a one on one tackle and the ball just popped out. The tight ends are impressive... Brown's been teaching them well. Cotton had a nice TD and Kyler Reed's breakaway TD showed great speed.
  16. I think it may have been the fact that his grades were questionable... I will post a link to his scout profile. Read the first story... Scouting SC. It talks about him. Mentions that he might need to go JUCO route... but also makes him seem like a real gamer. Perhaps he got his grades up or something since then. Neither sight lists a GPA. Gotta love the 4.5 forty speed tho. Kinda built more like a corner. http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p...amp;nid=3779443
  17. Lol... I find it funny Arkansas finally has an instate kid that's the best RB prospect looking at them since McFadden/Jones and they still find a way to mess it up. Oh, Arkansas... seriously, though, we should get on this kid. Could be the homerun threat that could take it to the house at any time that we sorely need.
  18. Rivals announced Dyer had picked an early leader... anybody know who it is? I would think SEC but who knows...
  19. They're both in SEC... narrowing it down from there is anybody's guess. I would personally guess Bama and LSU, since they've both offered. But I know they're in the SEC.
  20. I play with this guy... he goes to my high school. Solid prospect with good size, strong as an ox, and yeah, he played QB up until this year. Had a cannnon for an arm but never took anything off any passes, so he moved to hybrid TE/Goal line OT. Sometimes in practice, feigns an injury... likes the attention. Has pretty ridiculous speed for somebody his size... burns some 180-200 lb. skill position guys in practice. Good hands... excellent Bball player also. And yeah, he is a big ISU fans like alot of the kids around here. Can't figure out why... they are AWFUL! I'll keep workin him to get N. In my mind, he'd play early at ISU, but lose ALOT. At Nebraska, he'd get the chance to be part of somethin really special... B12 champs anybody? BCS? MNC? GBR!
  21. I think we should push hard for Daniels and Uher. Uher seems to have the frame... if he has game, we should definitely take a look. Daniels has been raved about for quite some time... could be a good one. Keep the best instate kids INSTATE.
  22. ESPN has him list at 6'5" and 210 lbs.
  23. U gotta figure, tho, that having his dad being a Husker has to help our chances. Especially if we offer first and really show genuine interest.
  24. Its been brought up before... guys will step up and we'll be fine at WR next year. Meno should be a stud of a possession receiver, and maybe 1)Paul will finally turn all that hype and potential into production 2)Gilleylan will finally start catching the ball. On Big Red Wrap Up, Kinnie said the coaches (Gilmore) told him he reminded them a lot of Mo Purify with more speed... could be a good one. But I think this year we finally step up and get that true #1, gamebreaker at WR. I would love McCay from KS or Keeston Terry from MO (Terry coming for junior day). Both have great upside AND stars. Also, sleeper recruit is a guy name Josh Harper outta CA... anybody know how that name is related to husker FB?
