  1. +1 and agreed. Kyler ran just over 11.0 in teh 100m in high school track. That’s okay, but nothing to write home about. Eric Crouch and Ahman Green both ran around 10.4 or 10.5. So did Andrew Shanle and Erwin Swiney. Then again the 100m is even less useful than the 40yd as a stat for football speed. If Kyler Reed can catch as well as Swift, then we got us a new WR. We have a shortage of receivers who can actually catch the ball right now. This was painfully noticeable last year.
  2. Didn’t I hear a while back that McNeill is moving to WR? So who does that leave at TE? Young and Cotton / Hill? I don't think McNeill is moving . . . could be wrong but I don't think I've seen that. We've also got Dreu Young, Ben Cotton, Ryan Hill, J.T. Kerr, and the JUCO coming in. That sounds better. It would be strange if both Reed and McNeill moved out of the TE spot.

  4. Sounds like we're almost starting from scratch. But, with the way our offense performed last year, it's easy to see why Wats is taking this approach. There's nothing wrong with QBs who have a tough edge to them. I was going to post that same quote from Watson. I like this approach. None of this pussyfooting around with green jerseys. Let's crank it up a notch and find out what we got. I'm sure it'll make practice more interesting for the Blackshirts too.
  5. I know the author assumes no injuries occur (as if that have ever happened in the history of college football). Still, I have my doubts about prediction #2: I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Green, Martinez and Spano--or even Latravis for that matter. Zac Lee doesn't have much of an edge over them. And Zac won't be around for spring ball.
  6. Pretty good advice here from Rawhide-Jr. For target practice and home protection with stopping power you might also consider a .357 with a mid-length barrel (or longer). You can keep .357 shells handy for home protection, but fire cheaper aluminum case .38 rounds at the range. If it’s only home protection you want then go with a short barrel shotgun with pump action. The sound of the pump action will send most intruders fleeing. (I would run if I heard that sound.)
  7. I thought this quote from chiefsplanet BBS was kinda funny:
  8. Now *that* is funny! And probably true. The most surprising thing about the article, for me anyway, is that Danny Hawkins is the lowest paid B12 HC at $1.0M. I would have guessed CU to be up around NU in pay scale, just behind the oil money crowd. Losers.
  9. I didn’t know what offense we were running half the time last year. Whatever it was, we need a new one.
  10. Unlikely that Trev becomes our next AD. Maybe Trev will get his shot in a decade or so when the job opens up again. For now, our next AD might be a name that not many are familiar with—--a non-athlete administrator sitting a few doors down from TO’s office.
  11. Of those listed, Mythbusters. I used to like "How It's Made" and sometimes "Time Warp". I think those are Discovery Channel shows.
  12. So what do you think the two-deep looks like at LB this year? Maybe something like this: Will: Lavonte / Lawrence Mike: Compton / Koehler Buck: Fisher / Martin
  13. Sure UCLA has a scenic campus. I’ve been there many times. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be. UCLA doesn’t have anything on UNL—-except for better weather. As for Westwood, it looks great if you are driving through. Try parking there sometime. If you do find a spot to park, might want to keep an eye on your car. Had my car stolen twice in Westwood, about a half mile from campus.
  14. Pretty cool. Yahoo/Rivals serving the Kool-Aid. Here it is for when it disappears off the front page.
  15. I pray to God you're right...I want a young qb. i'm tired of these guys that play for a year or two then graduate. although i would like to see him emerge as our qb, i still have doubts as to his ability to pick up the offense, as he continually looked "lost" every game he was in last year. he needs to make lots of progress, sometime. Ha ha! Deer in the headlights. Yeah, he looked about like I would expect a true freshman to look. I expect we'll see a bit more assertiveness our of Cody Green this year. Let's hope.
  16. When Bo first hired on I read some quote from him about the nuances of football. I thought NUance would be a good handle, you know, because it has NU in it. That, and because it is a short name and doesn’t take long to type in.
  17. I’m going to be cheering for KU to win every game now that Gill is coach. Well, except their Nov. 13 game.
  18. CNNSI.com article about Skippy Holtz at USF. Holtz's fubar on the Carnes recruitment worked out to our advantage.
  19. I think Cody Green will emerge. He has the physical tools, no doubt about it. Rocket arm, great footspeed, nice size. After a year in the system he’ll run the offense like a seasoned veteran in spring ball. That’s what I’m hoping anyway.
  20. Which spot is PJ's? Was PJ ahead of Hagg at the end of last year?
  21. Cutcliffe has done some impressive things in his career. But Duke football is a different beast than Tennessee. Or even Old Miss. Building Duke football will be an uphill battle.
  22. Hey, we need a MLB. Somebody alert the staff!!
  23. Jerry's house--aka Cowboys stadium--makes me think of this scene from Shrek:
