  1. Exactly. OU has the speed to match up with Tech on the outside, and they can put pressure on the QB without blitzing. If OU plays sound coverage an doesn't turn the ball over, they'll be in this game to the end. Good points all. And OU was pretty dinged up when they came to Lincoln. They still have some key guys out but at least the new starters have more experience under their belts.
  2. I’d say Watson is doing pretty well considering the adversity he’s had to deal with this year. Think about it. Watson lost his (apparent) number one QB in the off season, he lost his power running back during the summer, and Helu has been dinged up. His O-line—which seems to have plenty of talented individuals—has fallen flat so far. His receivers have hands of stone. And the fumbles—don’t get me started on fumbles. Given all this, I don't think Norm F'ing Chow could have done much better.
  3. Wonderlic question: Given 0+0+1+0+0+1+0+0+1+0+X+Y=Z If X = Y = 0, what is Z? Dan Hawkins: “Uuuuh, Z would be 10. I’ll guarantee it.”
  4. I like the comparison of Bo to the Bobfather. Both were/are fiery leaders, able to kick butt when needed. Or at least that’s what I’ve heard about Devaney anyway. I can’t personally remember much about him as a coach—just an AD.
  5. Gomes. Don’t know if he was the player of the game, but a nod should go to him for a game well played. He had a couple real nice pass break ups, a TFL and a couple of run stops. AND he saved our bacon with the forced fumble. Granted, he did have the pass interference that extended KU’s last TD drive. But all in all Gomes played a hell of a game. He has been a pleasant surprise this year.
  6. I didn't realize the hairy dogs have such a wild streak.
  7. Cornell intercepted three Witt passes. So did Brown. It is a good idea for Witt to start hitting the books and plan for a career other than football.
  8. Oh yeah? Well I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings, or the feelings of any of your OU Spooner buddies. I wouldn’t want to make any of you cry or anything. Do you actually know any Sooner fans? I am not talking about the kindly old grayhairs who custom order their Depends adult diapers in OU Crimson & Cream. I mean the rabid fanatical troglodyte mouthbreathers who spend gameday screaming obscenities and hurling insults. If you spent much time with them—the rabid troglodytes, not the grayhairs—then you wouldn’t be tripping over your skirt to be so kind to them. You would use the term Friggin Hillbillies. And you would think it’s funny. btw, do you actually have any opinion on the open field tackling in the Oklahoma Sooners game? Or were you posting in this thread just to pose as a dignified, classy, corn-cob-up-the-butt, Husker fan?
  9. The Blackshirts had some of the best open field tackles I’ve ever seen on Saturday. Time and again it would be one-on-one with room to run. And we would NAIL the Friggin Hillbilly runner dead in his tracks. BAM! No YAC at all! The Blackshirts put on a clinic for the Friggin’ Hillbillies. It was a thing of beauty.
  10. Wasn’t necessarily a bad call by Watson. It’s just that Lee and Helu weren’t in good position to make the pitch. Seems like Helu should have been a step back to get a better angle and come forward into the pitch. Lee’s pitch was high and inside (behind) because there wasn’t room to pitch it into Helo’s breadbasket at that bad angle. It was a risky pitch Lee prolly shouldn’t have made. Of course it’s easy for us to look back and make that observation on Monday. And I thought Bo was yelling at Lee coming off the field, not Wats. Lee has the history of turnovers. Not Watson.
  11. Coach Fatmangino ain’t gonna beat us this year. So what if we can’t find our offense. We’ll score four safeties to beat their FG. NU 8 KU 3
  12. Too bad this kid’s parents don’t support the heralded Husker walk-on program. It would have strengthened our team to have Jake walk on and give out the scholie to some other deserving player.
  13. I wouldn’t mind seeing another QB commit in this class. Someone like Garrett Grayson maybe (Ht: 6-2 Wt: 194 40: 4.58; threw for 3,000 yards and 30 TDs as a junior in 2008). Great arm, and very mobile. We don’t have an offer to him though.
  14. Great book. I'm looking forward to the movie.
  15. Had to. Putting the car thing in will reduce the number of stupid emails Stewie gets about Suh/car crash from about 200 to 50.
  16. Write-in campaign. It's the American way.
  17. How about a picture of Bill Callahan’s severed head, with the caption: “Now THIS is a throat slash.”
  18. The South Bend invasion was the best ever. At a Gameday game no less. Making it all the better. WF 2007 was pretty great too, a game I was able to attend.
  19. Illinois over Penn State. edit: Ooops. I didn't see the "week 1" upsets. Illinois plays Jo Pa in Oct.
  20. I think you guys are way low on the estimate. Be at least 10k Husker fans in Lane Stadium. Maybe more.
