  1. We have minimal ships to give next year, something like 18-19 max, we're only going to be offering the best of the best. I sounds terrible but I can say with 100% confidence neither of these kids will get offers from Nebraska. I'd be surprised if more than two more players aside from ARod get offers. The two being Coleman and Hinz I take it you are you referring to Ron Coleman. What position are the coaches projecting this kid to play? He's listed at 6'0" 245, but from people who follow recruiting much closer than I do they say that that 6'0" listing is generous. People I know say Coleman is closer to 5'10".
  2. So there's no misunderstanding here... With regards to Kevin Young: I've heard through the grapevine, he tends to take plays off during a game. Although I can't honestly say, with 100% accuracy, if this is true or not. However, based on the film I did see of him last year, all these points are valid. * He's kinda slow * He doesn't really explode of the line * He has trouble shedding blocks * He some times plays with a high pad level * He's inconsistent Kevin Young is a developmental project who, even at Kansas, probably won't even see the field, barring a severe run of injuries along the DL until his redshirt junior year-if ever. Now could I be wrong about this kid? Sure. But from what I saw he was nothing special and I think he'll be nothing more than a career back-up. JMO. _____________________________________________________________ Edit: Here's Kevin Young's highlight film... At the 1:10 and 1:50 marks are really good examples, I think, about not maintaining proper pad level. If he stands up like that in college he'll get pancaked. And for the record Young is a little better than what I thought. I actually had him confused with another DE prospect...sorry. As far as his speed goes though he looks like he lumbers.
  3. In my humble opinion Rex Burkhead will redshirt because there are just too many guys ahead of him who have been in the system for a year or more: Helu, Castille, Okafor, Ward, etc. And if you believe what RB coach Tim Beck said, Lester Ward is really coming on strong. Basically, as a rule true freshmen only play out of sheer dire need. Now could Rex see the field as a true freshman? Sure, but I wouldn't count on it. Brent Qvale, whose name breaks the Qu rule of the English language, but I digress terribly, and Thaddeus Randle will redshirt more than likely as well-and for the same reason(s) as Rex. Plus Thaddeus Randle is listed as 6'1" 255 rivals.com -- There is no way he'll see the field as a true freshman DT at 255 pounds. (To clarify about Randle...there is a way he could see the field as a 255 true freshman but there would have to be an extraordinary set of circumstances.)
  4. Yeah you're right, none of these guys: Baker Steinkuhler, Cody Green, Will Compton and Chris Williams are "wow" recruits. I'd be surprised if these guys could walk and chew gum at the same time. [/sarcasm] Looking ahead to next year's class the Huskers have already received the committment of the #1 OG in the nation.
  5. I honestly think you're needlessly worrying here. 1. Josh Williams and Cameron Meredith are developing just fine and are really pushing Pierre Allen and Barry Turner for playing time. Remember that Meredith played as a true freshman after Turner was hurt last year. 2. I haven't heard anything about Jason Ankrah not qualifying. 3. Kevin Young. From what I saw of him on film last year, be glad this kid went to Kansas because he's really not that good: * He's kinda slow * He doesn't really explode of the line * He has trouble shedding blocks * He some times plays with a high pad level * He's inconsistent * He's been known, at least from what I've heard through the grapevine, to take plays off (Although I can't honestly say, with 100% accuracy, if the last * is true. Although I tend to believe that from the film I watched last year. )
  6. Actually Wyoming's "brown shirts" are modeled after Nebraska's Blackshirts. And, if I recall correctly, Western Michigan's defense has a goldshirt defense which is also modeled after the Blackshirts. You know what they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
  7. Mike Sherman is probably selling the same vacuous dream that our former coach did-playing in the NFL. To the point of the thread...the biggest "need" for the 2010 class is, hands down DT and CB. All other positions the Huskers will be adequate with signing one at each position. QB...Lee, Spano, ?Martinez?, Ebke = stocked. RB...Helu, Castille, Okafor, Ward, Burkhead = stocked. WR...Paul, Holt, Bell, Cooper, Gilleylen, Osborne = stocked. TE...McNeill, Young, Cotton, Reed = stocked. OL...stocked DE...stocked. LB...stocked. DB...pretty much stocked.
  8. To play for Gene "Liar" Chizik? Wow. Does this kid realize that if he leaves LSU and goes to Auburn he'll lose two years of eligibility? If he goes to Auburn he'll be a junior before he's eligible to see the field. I get transferring but within the same conference? Very strange indeed.
  9. Teboverated? Let's stop this ridiculous nonsense right now...Tommie Frazier, was, is and probably always be the great QB in the history of college football and no one, not Vince Young, not Tim Tebow, not Pat White or anyone is ever going to change that. Let's examine the facts here fellas: Vince young had one season where he was the full time starter led the Whorns to an undefeated record and a national title. There is NO comparison...Tommie Frazier > Vince Young.
  10. Would you care to expound on this statement?
  11. Well I do now. I just saw the thread and thought it was current. I did find it a tad odd that he brought up Pederson and Callahan. Ooops.
  12. What I continually find amusing is that people like "HuckFuskers" actually take the time to come onto a site dedicated to a particular team to merely throw feces against the wall. It's sad really that "HuckFuskers" life is so empty, worthless and miserable that the only way he can bring a tiny ray of sunshine into his pathetic existence is to troll, flame and be a grade A idiot on some team's internet message board. Oh and the screen name "HuckFuskers" is sooo original. What's next, you going to tell us that the N on the Nebraska helmets stands for nowledge? Or maybe you'll call us Cornfuskers? Keep the "intelligent," "original" and "witty" commentary coming. [/sarcasm]
  13. You mean someone who isn't hyped to death can turn out to be the better than someone who is?! Lester Ward was a 2* prospect according to scout and rivals. Scout had him "ranked" as the 170th best RB in the nation in '08 -> Scout.com Rivals.com Imagine that...a "lowly" two star can come in and compete with the 4*'s...who woulda thunk it...
  14. Okay for the those in the back row: the title of this thread is, "Green has got an arm" To which someone replied, "Just one?" The joke, pun or reply went off the basis that every person has two arms. Yeah I know that amputations, disease, accidents etc can...never mind. Dude you are seriously harshing my glow.
  15. Parapharsing Mark Twain, the rumors of Nebraska's death have been greatly exaggerated. Nebraska was THE team to beat in the Big 12 when the conference was formed. The Huskers started to fall under Frank Solich and the utter collapse came under the previous incompetent coaching staff. The tide has turned, Bo is the right guy and the future is bright indeed.
  16. Are you freaking kidding me? They're not going to know you're going to have a system that you blab to the papers about? Is it going to be like our brilliant new defensive gameplan against Missouri, or how we talked about how we were going to throw a lot of quick slants against OU? Maybe I'm missing something Yes you are... Pierre Allen said, and I quote, "They’re probably not going to know that we can do it" Which is completely different from, as you said, "They're not going to know you're going to have a system that you blab to the papers about?" One = knowing while the other = doing and they are completely different constructs. See the difference?
  17. I'm surprised at how good of a poster you are. Keep up the good work. Say what?
  18. I'm surprised it has taken this long for the whole "check with me" concept to make it's way over to the defensive side of the ball.
  19. Well it does help when your responsibility is to cover a specific conference as opposed to every team in the FBS ranks.
  20. The context was: Sacks are over-rated, it's for those NFL guys... I mean, even now it just boggles my mind as to just how idiotic, and utterly clueless, the previous coaching staff really was, about seemingly everything.
