  1. Hmmmm...I will take the under but would that count guys that graduate this may or in the summer and decide they just want to move on?
  2. Simple...it is more popular because it is an excuse to drink, party and gamble. Last WC (I can't stand soccer) me and some friends ended up at an Irish bar here in Omaha...It was so packed with fake fans of soccer that were all cheering on the US vs Germany...it was a blast, loved it, had a great time. I drank a ton and I bet on the "match" Those kids that were playing it 20 years ago have kids of their own that are playing...so now there is an excuse to get some wings and beers and watch. That is just my guess, but I think it is a solid one.
  3. I think there is a lot of truth to the US being isolationist. Plus...by the time we sort of really got "our feet under us" baseball had started. Soccer has done an amazing job at two things... 1. They have decided to totally alienate themselves from other sports and built their own community of "with us" or "against us" people. That was a smart move and it needed to be done. 2. They realized they didn't need "adults" but they needed kids. Micro-midget-mini soccer is their gold mine. Soccer is great for young kids (I personally think they need to use more of a beach ball type ball for the real little kids but that is not the point) and it is great for parents because most parents don't know the game and don't give a crap about the game...so they can go, watch, have their coffee at 8am when the game is going on and hang out. They don't have to worry about being roped in to coach and all that crap. 2b. Camps/select...Soccer has done an AMAZING job at getting into parents wallets and as someone that has run many many many different football camps and a 3 on 3 tourney that used to bring in major cash for little work (just for me!) that is a skill.
  4. Yeah I would think they would love it...makes life much easier for them when it comes to sharing information.
  5. I am sure they started off with the best of intentions but I am also pretty sure that as the season went on more corners were cut.
  6. Yeah...I get that it is the most popular sport in the world but more of that has to do with the ease and cost. You literally just need a ball, that is it. Baseball is expensive and you need a decent amount of people to play, you need gloves (or makeshift gloves) and a bat (or makeshift bat). Football you can get away with just having a ball but playing tackle football is not something most people do after the age of like 18. Basketball you can just have the ball but you still need hoops and basketball, if you have a 10 foot hoop, is not as kid friendly. Much easier to kick a ball into a garage for a kid than it is to make jumpers. Lets face it...if race cars were accessible to everyone in the world...it would be the most popular sport.
  7. I love morning practices...during the summer we do almost all our stuff in the morning. It just makes everything easier. The reporters will love it too...instead of having to wait to talk to coaches and players they can get their stuff down early.
  8. Bo did do a really good job... Just not really good enough
  9. CSU might be hiring female head basketball coach...Good for them!

NM, I'd like to think that it would work and being from the FoCo area, think the community would rally around her. But seeing as 300 something D1 coaching jobs are held by male coaches, I don't think it's unreasonable to question it.

Most coaches fail at their job...very few are great at their job.

@Waldo somebody has to be the first to try.

  10. I think the key to a good burger is the bun. Big doughy buns (insert joke here) ruin a great burger.
  11. We hare a 1:1 school with iPads...so they have them out and on all the time. I don't have a huge issue with it as long as they shut up
  12. I loved when they got mad at Stern because Stern would call out people for stealing his bit/act...then of course TT would steal his bits/act.
  13. Yeah, I have done both...Your last paragraph is really dead on the money. Actually most of your response is pretty much dead on.
  14. Yeah, they even came out and sort of said that in the off-season they did a lot of not-practicing.
  15. Being masculine is probably a lot like being pretty...it really depends on the other persons point of view.
  16. That really shows just how fast you have to be to get yards with your feet as a QB.
  17. Like I said at the start of the year (you can go back and check but I wouldn't because that is super dorky) NU got a GREAT conference schedule this year in terms of easy games. Illini: Historically bad (and still should have beat NU twice) Indiana: Sooooo down right now OSU: Missed this one big time NW: Everyone knew they were done NU did everything right...it just happens that it wasn't enough. It was sort of good luck but bad luck.
  18. Dallas is still one of the best shows ever. Larry Hagman OWNED his role of JR.
  19. Wait...I missed what you said...I was busy snapping.
  20. Haha! I know what you mean. I use it but I had stopped using it at school...until just now when I found out how the students can still get on it!
