Coach Solich was not fired for on field problems. Coach Osborne loves Frank Solich. Tiny man, whiney. The man was toughest son of bitch on the team at 185 pound full back when he played for Nebraska. People make mistakes, and Nebraska took a bit hit for firing Coach Solich, but more so out of respect for Coach Osborne and the program. They protected their interests and some what Coach Solich. Not everything was known instantly like today. The bull s#!t line that Urban took the Florida job because Nebraska fired a 9 win coach is just that. He interviewed for his life time dream job, Notre Dame, then saw the talent at Florida, quickly turned down his dream job. Urban was never coming to Nebraska, he knew the value of talent and where he could recruit it quickly. Had nothing to do with firing Coach Solich.

There are more teams than Nebraska. I have lived all over the country, and normally pick out a team close by that I try to support. Grandfather was a huge Nebraska fan, Grandmother was a Oklahoma fan. Huskers are always first. Way more fun to enjoy the sport. Really nothing quite like living in the south on a fall Saturday. I have not read the whole thread but heard one of the UCF players made a statement that did not go over to well. Something about not being concerned about SEC speed, Auburn was about to learn about UCF speed. Not a good thing to say unless you can back it up. Auburn is a top team. Really interested how this game goes down. Will Auburn be ready to play or just show up. WE know UCF is going there to win the game. I think it really is the main bowl I want to watch. Headed to Rose Bowl, tough to pick a team. Oklahoma fan, but have always liked Georgia since I lived in South Carolina for a few years. Nailed Finebaum, but I still love listening to him and his heard of idiots. Normally just laughing the whole show.

Georgia and Florida have never played north of the Mason Dixon line, at least that was stated on Siris/XM the other day. Florida has never played a out of conference game against another P5 team outside the state of Florida, other than in Bowl games.

Hell of a coach, made Kansas something I don't remember it every being. Is he still coaching? Some great advertising for Nebraska. It will be the only time during the show that Nebraska will be mentioned, and that isn't for certain. He deserves the recognition. I think UCF did a great job with Heupel (spelling)

It is as close to a father son relationship as you can get. The picture with Moos and Coach Frost, with the proud mentor in the background says a lot.

I knew this was a much tougher sell, than a lot thought. Scott knew what had gone on at Nebraska, saw the way his mentor was treated. The only way he came home was with Coach Osborne's assurance that the program was in good hands. With out the administration change, Coach Osborne would have told him to stay I think. I know the man quite well, and I know how he thinks, and how important his relationship with Coach Frost is. Then you have a young man/coach who took a group to the top of the world, that he truly cared for. Hard to walk away from that. I don't think it was about money, I don't think he would have gone to Florida, FSU or TAMU. He was UCF or Nebraska. So in the end we have a great man, with ethics, loyalty and love for the state and young hard charging Coach that patterns his life after Tom Osborne. These two together at Nebraska will make improvements, no question in my mind. Pretty sure we are going to see more of Coach Osborne around campus, he sorta, has a grandson to get in line.

Great that it all worked out. Glad the native son is home.

Comment was made during the Pac 12 Championship, you always knew when USC was playing. Their uniforms never change, tradition. Similar to Penn State and Alabama, above the need to change. Give a kid winner, he isn't going to care what it looks like. I would not be against the Black Shirts, if returned to something similar, have a sticker on the helmet or a patch on the jersey for the original 11. But I must admit the White uni above looks very good. But when we play rivals, such as Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas or Colorado, nothing but traditional uniforms.

We have at least a year to be happy, as a group and that has been a long time coming. Keep expectations reasonable, watch for improvement, watch Coach Frost's development. No one knows what is going to happen, but I am going to be as positive as I can about Coach Frost.

This is getting scary, we seem to be agreeing on a lot of stuff. I may go into hiding. Just does not seem right. lol

I think the time and the fact that it is really hard to get to with freeway traffic. USC fans do not travel well, and celebrate a sell out once every 6 or 7 years. It is 70 degrees on a Friday night, too much to do for most of them. Really do not support their teams like the mid west or south east. It is sad bu normal.

I have always thought that this was not the slam dunk some people thought. He likes those kids, and has started something rolling. It will be a tough day for him. Glad he decided on Nebraska, but I think it was a tough decision for him. I never really worried about him going else where, but was concerned about bonds to UCF.

I heard from the first day of recruiting school in lovely San Diego, sell the Corps, not the job, works out to sell the school, not the coach. Make them love Nebraska, live for Nebraska, run thru walls for Nebraska, coach leaves the school is still there. Never sell them something you can not deliver. With Keyshaun you have an involved father that wants the best for his son , but was sold on the job not school. He wants some control as things may have not been going at home like he had expected, pretty normal for kids this age. Peer pressure, girl friends and all. Felt a place far away was better than this hole of California. Felt he could trust his kid in Coach Riley's care. Didn't work out so well, kid goes home or is ordered home, parental adjustment. He felt comfortable with Coach Riley, Jr felt good with coach Riley. Have to wait if Coach Frost will feel comfortable with both. That is who has to be satisfied. I am all for the kid getting a try, and Sr coming around to the new staff. It can do nothing but good. Pop is on TV a lot and carries a lot of weight. Hopefully we can use it with Jr fitting in and staying out of trouble. He gives indications he can and wants to. Coach Frost is the one that has to give him the chance. Not senior.'' And there is another 100 plus of these potential problems the Coach Frost must face/handle, some to a lessor degree and other to maybe a worse degree. Kid wants to be Husker. We will soon see if he has the gumption to be one. I think he will make it. Never been a question about him wanting to be, the question was could he be. Again will be answered in the first few months. I am betting on him to do what Coach Frost wants.

Improvement is not always shown by wins and losses, CCG or division wins. We have been thoroughly decimated by Wisconsin and Iowa in our own division. That is where we as a fan base need to be concerned. Can he get us to playing against our own division competitively. Then and only then can we guess on CCG participation. Nebraska developed the system Wisconsin uses it seems as Redux says. We do not have the system in place and it will take some time to develop it. I do not expect miracles. I hope for continued improvement on a daily basis. He gets us to 8-4 in two or three years, not getting curb stomped by the elite, he will have more than matched any expectation I might have. This is not 1997. Many programs are way ahead of us. Step by step. But Wisconsin has shown it can be done with players not rated as highly. Belief in yourself, the system and your team is what is needed. We now have a coach that has shown he has the ability to develop a team. I am just happy about that, and at this point have no concern about wins and losses. We have reached the low point, everything is up from here.

Do we know what his UCF class is ranked at now? Getting kids to go to a Florida school from Florida is going to be far easier than to Nebraska. With Osborne or Solich we never had terribly high classes, I gonna say around 10th would be close to the top and 14 to 15th the last few years for Coach Osborne, going off memory. We won a lot back in those days, and never really saw the mass input that other teams have seen from it. IE Bama, top two for how many years now. We all want Coach Frost to do the same thing. The key to it will be giving him time to accomplish it. We already have polls up on how long it will take. Unneeded for any reason I think. It takes him what ever it takes and he should not be under pressure from it the first day he walks in. We are getting exactly what most asked for. Don't make his life a living hell like we have the last two coaches. Be patient and happy.

Knapplc, I ended up driving almost 4500 miles to see that game. It seems like ten years ago for sure. I had so much hope for this year, and to just watch it all go away day by day. Happy that Coach Frost is coming home. Hope it turns out just half as good as we all hope, it will be tremendous. I have no dreams of National Championships, just Nebraska back to being a team I can be proud of taking the field, knowing every time we will be giving our best.

Recruiting is a funny deal, you get kids that want to go away from home, others that want to stay close. His toughest job will be to get the higher talent level to consider Nebraska. I think he has the background, the work ethic, the desire and the loyalty locked down. Can he recruit to Nebraska is his only challenge. He has NC ring, history from Oregon and now UCF. If anyone is going to be able to, it is him. I think we did good.

Herbie, like all TV personalities are trying to get attention, for themselves or what ever outlet they are working for. He has commented on this hate thing numerous times about many other programs that claim that he hates them. BAMA, Auburn, USC, Texas, Oklahoma and yes Nebraska. I think he moved from Columbus to Nashville, because the Ohio State fans thought he hated them and harassed him and his family continually. He said great things about Pelini when hired, truly thought MR could do the job. He realizes that everything is based on recruiting and none of the past coaches has brought that level (NC) of player to Nebraska, except Callahan with Suh. When coach Frost is announced he will be one of the first to congratulate Nebraska and Coach Frost. But anyone who thinks that Nebraska will have the exact same turn around as UCF is way off. This will take time, the advantage the Coach Frost has, is most, and I say most will give him the time to do it. There will be those at the end of the second year questioning no doubt. As Moiraine said I think, we just need to see Ohio State punt. That is how far we are off the path.

Not so much the X's and O's but the Jimmies and Joes. I still think that is very true. Most power house teams with a good DC/OC have talent on the field. The difference is those coaches know how to make it a team, get the most out of what they got. Coach Frost has done that at UCF. He will bring in what he needs on the coaching side I think. Recruiting what those assistant coaches need will be the challenge.

I think they are staying right where they are at, unless they get a head coaching gig.

I don't think it was just Riley, I seem to remember a very visible blue tee shirt, that I railed on a couple of times.

No names on the jerseys. Unite as a team, team recognition. Keep our colors, but update the uniforms as needed.
