  1. u beat OU and you are worried about KU? are ufriggin kidding me? Congratulations! btw, great job by the big red, didn't think it would happen and watching it was amazing and just killed the OU people, I loved it! Looked like your ISU game, where OU ran up and down the field offensively then as soon as they got near the end zone lost their friggin minds! You know it just hit me, the North has turned into Bizzaro Land! Where up is down and night is day! Wow, chaos rules the north and don't fret so much dudes, you will win the north and be in Dallas! Enjoy the moment, where is all the classic husker arrogance? Thought I came across a big nancy board. You will destroy a hapless KU team in Lorance! don't worry, be happy! mu fans are just grateful bu game wasn't televised anywhere. but they will be back. like nu has to bring in a big 12 worthy OC, mu needs to bring in some bigtime coordinators.
  2. d is still weak in back 7 and thin on talent. dline is driving that train. On O for those wanting to revert to power game, they have tried but you are starting back end of the rotation guys and they make mistakes and are inexperienced. Lee? Just isn't all that, he is what he is. they should emphasize the option and let green run and use a lot of playaction passing. let him take his lumps, best chance of winning now and in future. you also should recognize how thin at the skill positions NU is. Lots of hard work and recruiting needs to be done. Are you happy with Bo is a good question. MU fans were upset at losing NU game when they had shut out a bad o for 3 quarters. they allowed a baby qb's mistakes to hand over a loss. Now you have to question how NU coughed up a gimme win against ISU by mistakes, unbelieveable mistakes and whom do you blame? BO didn't have your wr fumble a ball for no good reason right before he crossed the goal for a easy score, or allowed isu to strip several balls out of backs hands. Or is that bad preperation? Have never seen a game like that where one team absolutely dominated game and lost. Kept saying, wait till end terrific fg kicker will win this with a long one. After Lee's performance in last couple possesions, he showed many that he wasn't the guy. From that pt on, time for Green, win or lose. At least Bo didn't have the azz's on the sideline, think he was in shock.
  3. have to give it to Snyder and rhoades second. I believe the old sly fox will teach his student how to coach a football game saturday in manhatton. he will have everyone blitzing reesing from all angles, and just power run right over that weak D. beware when ksu comes to lincoln, dude had his team ready to rock against ou and gave them one heck of a game, that is coaching. you will see how well bo prepares a team when ou comes in this week. good yardstick for his hc status. mu will have all they can handle when they go to manhattan as well, snyder will give them all they can take even with tigers superior athletes. snyder is the coach of the yr.
  4. good discussion and thankfully all the bravado and macho bs has receded to the reality of north sucks. all the teams are scrambling for some shard of respectability. I did pt out something about all the top teams in north early on, especially that Reesing would have a tough year with a pourous and too young oline. NU after losing castille didn't know if helu could handle the additional work load and stay healthy, beyond him talent was unknown, lee wasn't much of a qb and receivers were thin. Mu would have trouble if blaine was hurt and didn't look like they would be effective running the ball but d was more talented and would do better. course who saw that ksu would do so well early, wily HC's do make a difference but he is 65. As I pted out this year didn't really matter as none of us could compete with south, just didn't know how big the gap was. Nxt yr is still rebuilding for NU and MU with all their youth. KU? they lose all their stars and firepower on O plus their D is horrible, they sink down a notch or two. as for rest of year, play green and the kiddie corps of rb's, take the lumps and pray KSU holds on. Do you want your team upstaged on a national tv game? I hope MU wins 4 and ties NU at 3-1. That way you "win" the north and we can proclaim the much heralded, at least here, title of Cochumps, er champs. Like that means anything! LOL. Enjoy the games, it will be a bumpy ride. Buffs are waiting, that will be there big game of the year.
  5. personally i love the chaotic north as everyone takes their turn stepping in the toilet. my fervent wish is that KSU win it just for the effect it would have but would like NU to win it just so they get to play TX in Dallas. as for tigers? they took a bullet last two yrs, time for someone else but they could win out fairly easily. but you just don't know with baby qb's, just like the fans here are torn over the obvious choice green. to me you have to play him, knowing he is going to make lots of mistakes, lee is just not that good and won't be here in two years when it will matter. Picture this, Todd heshouldwinheisman Reesing running for his life, again, at the hands of this Dline! Suh and Crick are going to get them some! Not sure if todd survives the game. going to be a fun final 4 weeks! winner gets the prize of a free trip to Dallas tx for the opportunity to take a major beatdown by Longhorns, oh joy!
  6. who wins it? it looks like it is down to 3, or 2 or who knows? One thing is sure, the best HC is proving to be a retro choice as Snyder is doing one heck of a job with a bunch of retread juco's and mirrors. he is just a professional HC and will make the rest of the games against a falling fast KU and rebuilding NU and MU hard to judge. One thing is for certain, he will have his team ready to exploit all the obvious weaknesses of these very vulnerable teams. Having two baby qb's to scheme against at NU and MU and a weak oline at KU? Snyder will be in a feeding frenzy. Now we will see what HC's steps up and who steps down. This is when the HC earns his huge paycheck. Going to be a fun ride.
  7. better time to assess is end of this season. all the big 12 teams have interesting stories yet to tell. can Bo recover from a blown game literally giving a win away when they were clearly the best team on the field? Still has inside track and controls own destiny for north. Can Pinkel overcome blowing a game and giving a victory away when they had dominated play, even with a damaged young qb as he did with NU? Can they restart that engine? KU can mangino come up with a competitive D and keep reesing from being killed and win another game this season or can he reboot winning north? What will he do next yr when all his skill players are gone on O and he still doesn't have a D? KSU can they win another game? Hold serve and win north as they control own fate playing top teams in division. IF they do that would be a grt coaching performance. ISU can rhoades take advantage of NU's gift or they are who we thought they were. CU? oh forget it, they just suck, hawkins is a fraud. Can tx shut down a very good OKS and win out? Can Mack do more than bobby s and win a NC? season is right in the fun stages, many good stories still out there. recall this thread in december.
  8. why can't both play? happens in college all the time. start lee, bring in green for situations or wildcat plays where down and distance have best chance of success and a total change of pace. get d thinking he will run and then throw a quick slant or deep, kid has an arm. just do something different.
  9. stoops and brown top tier with brown having retooled his franchise better with the addition of best DC around. stoops better recruiter gundy and leach for making strides in program by bringing in top dc's with OKS resources could be next big thing. pinkel and mangino for taking stagnant programs and rebuilding them. only ok as game coaches. briles, pellini, rhoades for projects with decent starts snyder, sherman, KSU about to get big dose of reality and sherman out of place in college fb. hawkins, done nothing at all, just trying to survive this yr.
  10. tyler is a good kid and just because he gets calls from mu or anywhere else doesn't mean he is changing anything. having a rough senior year, not vry successful but then he doesn't have much to work with. hopefully going to see him play friday against another team with a high profile recruit. He should end up at nu, why go to mu where your big brother is entrenched as starter? it is always interesting to see what a kid can do when he plays wiht better talent.
  11. jason is right and he is wrong. they did go more 1 against 1 in his day but they also had more kids on schollie and the backups were better than most of their opponents. that is why you see so many programs being more competitive while the top programs arn't stacked 4 deep. different era but some pts were just basic football and correct.
  12. IF you are going to waste a rs year, shatel is completely right, play him in meaningful snaps. what would have been wrong with a few wildhusker plays? Kid has some wheels, use them. MU wasted a yr of gabbart's eligibility by burning the rs for nothing, never played one snap when it meant anything and he was not allowed to run the o when given pt, now look he isn't prepared when the bullets are flying. that is what is wrong with HC's who dont get it. especially last week, just needed a stinking FG and you had to change the karma of the team. ISU isn't very good but they do hustle. Bo blew that one. Green is there, play him some snaps, Lee is just not getting you anywhere. Helu is hurt set him down and let him rest.
  13. fair enough assesment and the NU D comment was accurate, good line play, rest are ordinary. besides it is all nitpicking but please go ahead and prove everyone wrong, including many posters here and win the darn north. troubling is everyone is mediocre overall and that includes mu. besides KU who has a real identity? who does something on O that you can impose on someone else, like MU and KU have done last 3 years, no on but themselves could really stop their passing attack. Now? not so much. it is a jambled mess and feel free to predict anything over next few weeks. he was wrong on 1 pt, if NU played ISU 10 times you would beat them 9 or 10 times, it was a total self destruction only. had nothing todo with who you played, ISU has little talent. IMO you play green and when in doubt let him take off and run, he is very good at that, Lee? not really. who wins the north? who cares, go ahead take it if you care to. but fixing fundamental problems, for NU, MU or KU are the more important issues.
  14. season is a nightmare for top teams in north, not unusual for rebuilding teams with big questions, same as were apparant in fall camp. but that game was just wild. huskers self imploded much more about them than what ISU was doing, kept waiting for nu to mount a drive and for henery to boot a field goal to win it. probably what you all thought as well. looks a lot like the mu game where tigers had the game in hand and were winning easily only to have mistakes by a rookie quarterback change the momentum and give a gave away. I know you would like to believe it meant something but if you are objective look at all the mistakes NU and MU made on special teams and during game. no one should take too much away from that one in a rainstorm. question is now for coaches, what to do next. still have half the season to go and you still could win the north. how do they approach it? who will play? OU will be a beatdown but the rest are winnable. this is where you see the character of your team and see who steps up and makes a play.
  15. I think green should be playing, at least come in for a wildhusker once in a while but Lee didn't lose this game for you. he didn't fumble repeatedly or drop a ball when running wideopen to the end zone. did he play grt? no but then he is not a grt qb, servicable and he did throw several bad balls. have never seen anything like it, strange weekend in a north division in total chaos. as i have repeatedly said all these teams are full of holes and in transition, so it will be a bumpy ride. as for what to do? keep playing, keep hammering and make smart decisions on playing time. green needs his touches, maybe not starting but lee is no running threat, bring green in to option, bootleg and run the ball. wr's were weak and untested, play the kids and live with the results. helu is obviously hurt, let him rest and play the kids, should be able to handle a depleted baylor team. as for who wins north? I hope it is you, huskers still have inside track. KSU is weak and played it's weak sisters first so take care of business and hammer ku when you go down there. you should shut their running attack down and tee off on reesing and company, they will still put up pts, they are very talented in passing attack. cu is bad, you should handle them but who really knows this year? KSU? options a lot and huskers should beat them handily. as for the d, don't get how you think they are that good, Dl is good and suh is a manbeast but rest are only ok and secondary is average at best. enjoy rest of year knowing it is going to be hard to bear. as for me? I tape games like Tx and watch other games on tv which are more competitive. it is a rough year for all fans of top 3 in north, just remember it is college football and not life.
  16. will watson be here next yr or is his callahan taint too strong? his playcalling isn't good, not for an inexperienced oc and the fans are not down with his offense anyway. what do you guys think? He sure isn't Bo's guy. after two yrs and it's not like he has attracted a bunch of studs on o or anything.
  17. it's about time nu took it's turn in getting exposed in CC game, mu has taken it last two yrs but only appropriate that huskers step up. obviously when they couldn't move the ball against a solid TT D you realized you had no shot against ou or tx, at least realistic fans did. good luck with rest of schedule. tx at home will give mu a real test of whether they can come up with the right scheme after OU showed them how to do it. question is whether they will or not. KU in losing to Cu set huskers up for north as they have the tiebreaker over tigers and what difference does it make anyway? Best to get Green in and let him gain experience. ISU has had some offensive success especially running the ball, tho their best rb is lmted with a groin problem. All this year is a good measure of how the teams are progressing.
  18. Bo acting like an idiot on the sidelines does affect NU program. had a conversation with a father of an outstanding player who is being recruited heavily by huskers right now, day after bo's tantrum. Huskers are no longer on their list. You want to ignore and rationalize his behaviour, go ahead. But it will cost you in respect and recruits.
  19. the faithful sure lost faith in a hurry. the mu win wasn't impressive in a monsoon and based more on the mistakes of a first time qb in a conference game and bad officiating. too many mistakes, no offense for most of game and couldn't run agains a team that had given up quite a few running yrds in preseason. d was decent but tigers wr's were wide open most of day, qb didn't get them the ball. after the predictable debicle in lincoln at the hands of TT now reality has hit home, Helu was hurt in MU game and was ineffective, backups showed little, along with poor blocking and a qb who wasn't doing anything. and receivers who wern't catching the ball. good news and bad news, huskers still in drivers seat for winning north. bad news is the same, means a dismantling of whoever shows up reping the north in Dallas. top 3 teams question marks have mostly been answered and not in a good way. you should handle KU and reesing will be lucky if Suh doesn't get hold of him as their Oline is pourous but be prepared as they will put up pts on you, that's waht they do. Going to have to score big and you will need a running game, is Helu ready to go? that is a big key as Lee has proven he can't lift the o by himself, IMO Green should be in there for rest of year at least he can run. CU who knows now that daddy put his boy on the sidelines they will be better and it is in boulder. It will be entertaining, if getting a root canal is entertaining to you! but it will be an interesting race. I hope you win north as not wanting tigers to take it on the chin 3 yrs in a row in CCG.
  20. as I have been pointing out since VT game, lee is unimpressive as a qb, ok but nothing special. I know you all were hoping for a return to your past but it was premature, this team isn't that good and even put up accurate prediction of the TT game. even with putting in green, which is the money thing to do, you still should win the north, ku has no shot and you will put a stake in them when you play in lorance. Mu has a tough road, is rebuilding with a lot of young players and you have the tiebreaker. green has some serious skills and yes he will make some mistakes but you arn't going to beat OU with Lee, with green it could be interesting. OU will put serious ht on yur qb and lee has happy feet anyway, green is much quicker and could buy some time and take off for yardage. green and suh will be good enough to put away the pretenders in north. time to think about what is best for 2010. to me it is the only option, that and someone kidnapping Watson. It is a tossup between who is worse as a OC between the young guy for Mu and Watson.
  21. finally some reality sucks posts. as I have been saying all year there isn't a dominate team in north all have severe flaws in either inexperience or talent or coaching. Shame of it is that the south teams are not as good this year and would have been a solid chance if someone had stepped up but not going to happen. I know you guys thought it meant something last week but sorry guys, you didn't show much, more about the inexperience of MU's qb and their OC not taking advantage of numerous chances to put the game away plus the monsoon conditions and officiating which stopped both teams from getting anything going in very difficult conditions. I posted that TT would run over your d as your secondary is thin and not that good. On the contest I think I won, had TT 35 NU 21 I believe. Forgot how good TT's D was last yr. Oh well. MU still makes silly mistakes and rookie OC's playcalling is as bad as Watson's, which is saying something. I thought we were all setting our teams up for 2010, in order to compete with south. IMO Green has some skills and you need to play the kid and remember you are still in the drivers seat for the north, as if that means anything. He will make some mistakes but Lee isn't going to get you where you need to go. It's a process for all and think of this, in 2010 all those offensive stars are gone for KU and the backups don't impress much and their D sucks bigtime. MU will be more experienced and Gabbart will be a monster for next couple of years and D is very young and still learning their new scheme but they did stop OKS repeatedly and held them to a lot of field goals but still lost+. So buck up guys, you still have the easiest schedule and think of this, OU lost bradford and has a freshmen qb and they can be beat and you have them at home. after last couple of weeks you should beat KU in lawrence and baylor fell of a cliff so those two should be easy but CU game in Boulder just got harder. As I have said this yr doesn't matter much, it is how Bo handles this adversity and will he do what it takes for years to come and to me that means you live with a Freshmen QB as Green has some serious skills but will make some serious mistakes and grow the program.
  22. NU, KU, MU, TX, OKS, OU, TT all have interesting situations and will be entertaining to see how it plays out. Not a lot was learned in that monsoon game, this weekends game with TT will be more of a test if the track is dry. OKS and MU will be intriguing. Houston exposed OKS but will Mu coaches get away from trying to be balanced and attack more with the pass? How is the new, improved cowboy D doing? OU/TX should be very good. can ku's d be effective against a bad CU offense?
  23. what watson said makes sense, if the d stacks 8 or 9 in the box, why not throw over it to your hot read? basic stuff and that is what you should do, take what is given. just pounding the ball when your top back is hurting and is getting stuffed just doesn't make sense.
  24. as I said before the game seeing the monsoon conditions, very little would be learned from the game as silly things could happen. MU had a solid lead in the 4th and coughed it up, Suh had a very good game and made a grt play, good strategy. Having a young qb you have these things happen especially since the injury kept him from running the ball. congrats on the win. as for rest of season, TT this weekend, if there is a dry field, will be a strong challenge as they can bring it on offense. After the ISU game revealed KU to be weaker on d than suspected, huskers should do well there. OU will be interesting as they are not as strong as in past years but they do have that bradford kid back, heard he has potential but this the best opportunity as you have them at home. Good luck, time for north team to smack them. TX is not playing particularly well either, could be a good year for more competitive games. CU played TX hard for a quarter and actually blew Hanson's RS in Hawkins desperate bid to keep his job, those rarely work out. McCoy throwing a lot of picks and O is not as effective as lasty year. You should close that one out in Boulder. MU has it's tough strech with OKS and TX coming next. Gabbart gimpy but will play, how effective only the games will tell. Who is better? We shall see. Lot of football to be played. Now NU has the hd to hd edge, has to really screw the pooch to not win north. With both Tx and OU not playing as well as in past yrs, CC just got more interesting.
