  1. you seem like I really good evaluator of coaching ability based on your statement. I highly regard your opinions from here on out. Sincerely, Steve Pedersen Maybe my sarcasm meter is off, but I hope that chainsaws post is drenched with sarcasm.
  2. Changed the avatar just for you, scarletNcream. Is this one better? Cool. At least it's the current regime......
  3. Doing that didnt work well for the last guy. Thankfully Bo's focus on making good students is helping this coach get to a bowl game on 5 wins. Maybe MR should split his $150,000 bonus with Bo since that's the reason we qualify. They can say what ever they want about why BP was fired, he was fired because of the way he acted on the sideline, towards his bosses, towards the fan base and media. I was fine with his coaching and was very happy with the academic standards he set as a HC, but that type of personality is exhausting. If you have neve worked with or for someone like that you will never know. I have had a boss like that, it was like walking on egg shells all the time. One minute he was great and the next he would blow up about some stupid insignificant thing. If BP would have won 70+% of his games and had that type of academic record and a better additude about things, he would still be at Nebraska. He doesn't have to be the nicest guy in the world, he just needs to not be a big dick. ========================== As for expectations, I expect that our recruiting will improve. I expect that Mike Riley and staff will go back to the film room in the offseason and figure out how to win the close games, and dominate weaker opponents. Why would this still be an expectation for this coach in year +15? Some people act like this is MR's first year coaching. Bunch of excuse makers. Even if Riley does get lucky enough to win some games, hiring him at his age was a huge mistake. It'll set the program back years.
  4. It's an insult to Dr. Tom to compare Riley to him. Talking about chess players and checker players......

He doesn't have to be the nicest guy in the world, he just needs to not be a big dick. We had a nice winner with Frank and ran him out of town, too. Nebraska fans need to fix themselves. I agree fans need to fix themselves but didn't Franks uh little Frankie .. get him fired? or have a lot to do with it??Unsubstantiated rumor based on a smear campaign engineered after the Peder royally screwed up the search and hire. Banging coeds and not recruiting gets you fired anywhere.Solich was a great recruiter. Joe Daily and Santino Panico say hi.Panico was recruited by and committed to Callahan. This is basic stuff. Us Husker fans know that.
  6. Is that really any worse than a run getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage on 3rd and short? Yes BS. There are screams coming from virtually every direction.....fans and media......for Riley's offense to establish the running game, especially on short distance 3rd downs. And guess what? Riley couldn't care less what YOU want. He IS going to run HIS offense whether you, me, or anyone else likes it or not. Period. Time to put on our big boy pants and accept this. 5 and 7 agrees. But apparently we're going to back into a bowl game......
  7. Looks like Riley has several candidates to run on 3rd and short..... Remember when Nebraska led not just the conference in rushing, but the nation? I know you do...... What this tells me is that we COULD have committed to the run game if the staff so chose to, contrary to their words and the statements made by some fans. A few of us had said All year that the run game was there, but Langsahan decided against it.
  8. Lol, right. Link? This is the first thing I thought of (not to put words in RADAR's mouth) from the McKewon article: http://www.omaha.com/huskers/mckewon-huskers-close-to-finishing-recruiting-class/article_3cd65f8b-a60a-5a74-9f59-e72314a2ca86.html We can only hope. Also hope that they're higher quality athletes, not OrSU level.
  9. What was your expectation for this year? The talent was there this year. On D we'll most likely lost Collins and Gangwish and Byerson Cockrell are seniors so they are gone but on offense we lose Alex Lewis, Ryne Reeves, Zach Sterup not to mention Andy Janovich. I actually see us struggling more next year. Sigh... No it wasn't. Talent wasn't there at RB, DE, CB and we had serious depth issues at LB and QB. Talent wasn't "there". We have talent in certain spots, but overall Nebraska lacks depth and needs to improve the talent top to bottom. I guess those 9 players that just made All Conference was just a figment of everyone's imagination. Not to mention the 4 other players that made the Big 10's All Freshman team. Also you are insinuating that I said we have talent 'from top to bottom' which is extremely rare for most college football teams to begin with. Those 9 all conference players say that you're statement that the talent 'isn't there' is completely false so again yes the talent is and was 'there' this season. Enough talent to warrant being better than 5-7 which is the point I was trying to make but instead was sorely misinterpreted by yourself. If by 'talent being there' you mean we have a few good players, then sure. If by 'talent being there' you mean we can compete for and win the conference championship, you're dead wrong. Nebraska had one player make all conference on defense, Collins was second team by the coaches and third team by the media. On offense, Westerkamp was second team by the coaches and second team by the media. Alex Lewis was third team by the media. The rest came from honorable mentions. For special teams, Sam Foltz was first team by both the coaches and media (also won an award for best punter), and Drew Brown was second team by the media. Special teams has been one of the strengths of Nebraska for awhile now. Just to give you an idea, I count Illinois as having 11 'All Conference' players by the media, Indiana as having 8 'All Conference' players by the media, Wisconsin as having 10 'All Conference' players by the media, etc. Getting players on 'All Conference' isn't terribly hard when there are 3 teams plus honorable mentions by two different outlets (Coaches and Media). I'll do a complete breakdown of the Big Ten later today when I have time. I tend to agree with you quite a bit, but not in this instance. We have more talent than Iowa, yet they are 12 and 0, playing for the CCG and a shot at the playoffs.
  10. Forgive me, I just want to vomit at the reminder of this coaching staff doing exactly the opposite of what they told the media/fans prior to this season. Didn't MR state that he was going to move to a spread offense over at OSU before taking over at Nebraska? Here, we have a team who was more comfortable with spread formations/up-tempo, recruited for it and we force feed them the WCO and sling the football around in crappy weather 45+ times. That's not putting your players in the best position to win. Our OC plays not to lose. Makes me sick hearing him say he was "spooked" by calling run plays but then goes and asks Tommy to play like Tom Brady or one of the Manning brothers. Yeah, he lied, ERRRRRRR............. .....is well versed in "coach speak."
  11. IDK, you have alleged Nebraska fans on this board repeatedly calling him "stupid" and "a r****d" among other things. I can see how these guys might just feel that way.
  12. Going strictly by the facts, Nebraska averaged 35 rushes per game, and had better per game yardage and per carry average than the offenses being run at Michigan State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Penn State. So RBs will continue to be at least as meaningful at Nebraska as they are at these traditional Big 10 programs. Let's just hope they can be more successful. So much for our running game being sub par. Yet this staff felt the need to wing the ball around, in bad weather, with an option style QB. (Shakes head....)
  13. Read the article if you have time. It's a good one for those of us that only casually follow recruiting: Going full fledged Billy C.
  14. I thought AT had the potential to be really good. I wonder if he ever fully healed from his injury. I still wish we got to see what Wilbon, Ozigbo, and Taylor could do. I can't fathom we won't have at least one of those three bolt. Frankly, I won't be shocked to see Wilbon and Ozigbo both leave. Not much potential for meaningful snaps in this offense for a RB, save for pass blocking or catching a pass out of the backfield. For this crappy offense, everything is predicated on the pass. I wouldn't be shocked to see guys like DJ Foster and Farmer leave, which will only set the program back further.
  15. OK fine. Zac Taylor. Any other easy questions? ha Frost as HC. Taylor as OC and coach-in-waiting? After that, Patrick O'Brien. We've already given him the starting QB job, might as well give him HC down the line as well.I think we're on to something here. FIFY Good move by Frost. I'm sure there are a lot of things a first time head coach learns by making mistakes. Rather it be at UCF. As opposed to a 62 yr old coach making same mistakes in his twilight years at DONU.How many times have i read "I'd rather watch POB or another frosh makes mistakes than watch a senior (TA) make them" Makes me wonder why the same logic wouldn't apply Excellent point.
  16. DB seems to think that Frank was a pretty good recruiter. All of those guys that made Cosgroves defense look good for a year or two were Frank's recruits. Many found time in the NFL.
  17. Sorry to inform you, but Eddie's "my girl likes to party all the time" (or whatever it is) is a soft rock classic. And yes, DJ's "heartbeat" was.....not good.
  18. You may be thinking of Don Johnson, kimosabe. you know something Don Johnson spewed. lol I have a wealth of useless music knowledge :/
  19. I want to understand this. Why should a person leave a tip when the service is extremely poor? Why, if the server offends you personally, should you leave that server any tip? Bigger person my ass. If a person is dependent on tips for income then they sure as hell better strive to satisfy the customer. I'm not leaving a tip for crappy service. It doesn't come to that very often but when it does I don't feel bad in the least. Why does it matter if a person has bartended or waited tables? Do a passable job or don't collect the tip, pretty simple concept. Maybe I missed it, but where did he say the service was poor? Iirc, he said he took exception to a comment made. Sounds kinda cheap and small to withhold a tip, IMO.
  20. Nebraska will never be a mostly running team ever again but we will run to the best of our talent. We probably will when we get a real coach in a couple of years.
  21. It's not "just" that it didn't work under Callahan. Tom Osborne directly "advised" Riley that it was important to be able to run the ball. Osborne "might" have some insight into the matter. And it doesn't help that the only three losing seasons in modern Husker football history have been recorded by Callahan and Riley. But they came right after Solich and Bo were fired. Two of the worst recruiters in the history of Nebraska football. Hard to win until you can get the talent back. Now you're making both Pelini and Solich look like Lombardi. Well to be fair to Lombardi, he did win championships. the other guys, eh not so much, I'd be cautious of that rebuttal with Riley's collegiate resume. Well, Lombardi is dead, Bo and Frank will never win one so only Riley has a legit shot at it. All Husker fans know that Frank won one, and he played in a MNC game.
