  1. Initially, I thought this quote from Frost was kind of...well, douche-y. I have feeling about this season and the BIG, but let’s not rehash that whole deal again. Then I read the second half. And it’s something I hadn’t considered; who IS to say a team can’t say Coach X and Coach Y are positive as well, thereby we can’t play because we’ve hit said threshold. Why do that? Well, two QBs are out positive. I could very well be ignorant of the rules set forth and they can’t do that? Don’t know.
  2. I also know several former players (all Big Ten, now pro players, have moved on to coaching) who say they owe their careers to her. I’m not trying to discount posts above me saying the opposite. But I think it’s unfair to act as if your thoughts are fact because you know someone. I do as well. I don’t know Coach Revelle, though. You don’t, either. So why don’t we let it shake out? We can talk about it all day. But the caveat is we’re doing just that - it’s conjecture right now.
  3. I worked for a professional softball organization last year where we had to scramble to accommodate a game in less time with this exact same scenario (stadium capacity of 2,000 so the scale was much less and the logistics less grand). All that listed above is to be considered and a bunch of other stuff. It’s nearly impossible. I think someone else posted the turnaround time for the teams is less than ideal, too. That’s hard on athletes of this caliber.
  4. Seriously, ya’ll. Athletic department hasn’t confirmed this.
  5. Hey! I'm a Fremont, NE native and...you pretty much nailed it.
  6. The St. Louis paper all but confirmed that today. I have the story link in his recruiting thread
  7. Babb is injured, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: http://www.stltoday.com/sports/high-school/football/cbc-s-babb-injured-elite-prospect-may-miss-senior-season/article_ab3f0afa-f62a-56f8-b7af-b46bd240b941.html
  8. So, there's professional softball. Did you know that? And former Husker catcher Taylor Edwards catches for the best pitcher on the planet. She leads the league in RBIs. Also on her team, the Scrap Yard Dawgs, are former Huskers Kiki Stokes and MJ Knighten. Read up. It's good stuff http://scrapyarddawgs.com/news/?article_id=126
  9. I learned Michigan State is really bad. I also learned that injuries to the OLine are killing us. I also learned TA is a gutsy dude
  10. I think he is pretty busy with his business. The playground equipment supply industry. Hopefully we will see him on BTN again sometime. I thought he did a good job as a sideline guy. Well-spoken and insightful. Those sideline commentators you see in non-conference games do that on a freelance basis and are paid a per game fee. Damon Benning has done it for BTN, as well as Crouch. They definitely can't do it as a full-time job, unless they are picked up full-time by a channel. It's a good start in the business if they want to do it long-term, but difficult to make a career out of it. Did I dream this up or was Crouch in the booth for awhile? He might have done a game or two in the booth, as well. I think it was for Fox Sports, if I am not mistaken.
  11. I don't quite understand why Iowa would "Clearly" be favored. What am I missing?
  12. I love the parity in the upper echelon of college volleyball. Especially in the Big 10.
  13. A little OT, but did you see that call against the Rams on Sunday on the hit on the Bears' QB? Geez...
  14. I still question TAs ability to throw. It seems like there is a lot of passes that leave you wondering where it was supposed to go. He's a young guy, though, so that's bound to happen. And you have to consider whether he was under pressure at the time, etc...
  15. I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS I have lurked on this board for a long time. Posted some. I have come out of hiding to say, "I see what you did there!"
  16. The Ladies beat Stanford 3-2 early this season in a tourney in Arizona. The Fresno game will be tough. And as you said the Bama things would be a small mountain, but this team has knocked off Florida so who knows. That's right. I'd forgotten they'd already beat Stanford. Thanks for that! I'll be rooting for the Huskers of course, in the event they make the super regionals, but I really admire the Alabama softball team. This is mostly due to how cool the coach is.
  17. I don't believe the Stanford regional is being televised, but there are various ones that are. The Ann Arbor one is, and I few that I don't recall (ESPN family of networks). If we make it to the supers, that will definitely be televised, given ESPNs love of all things SEC.
  18. I actually think this is a winable regional. Stanford isn't necessarily the Stanford of old. Now the potential super-regional matchup against Alabama is an entirely different story. GBR!
  19. Seems a little anticlimatic since this place has been in crazy mode ever since...forever. My reaction is not really a reaction.
  20. What's Tim Tebow doing on a flag football team (see guy trying to stop other guy).
  21. There's a guy on the stltoday.com boards who thinks the game should be forfeited because of the hit in question. It's high comedy, really and no one agrees with him. But it's fun! Whine
  22. I don't know. I think that rule should change. Should Green have sold his jersey to an agent? Naw. That was wrong. If he were selling it to Joe Schmo, that's different. As it concerns Nebraska, it didn't really (with the exception of the fact that we are selling them). The parallel didn't make sense to me. You could make a point to say that we are sucking more money out of kids with the sale of the jerseys. I think that's dumb. I would love to get a full ride scholarship. I would love to have a nutritionist telling me what to eat and then have the university feed it to me. I would love a strength and conditioning coach.
  23. You're all wrong about who and how the first points will be on the board. Jared Crick and Baker Steinkuhler rush towards Jake Locker. Locker flashes back to NU vs Texas and what Suh did to Mr. McCoy. Locker hands the ball to Crick and he rumbles 35 yards for the TD Oh, and best. thread. ever.
  24. As a member of the press (I've never covered NU; living in the land of high school sports), I find that if you are getting short answers and a coach is huffy with you, there are two possibilities as to why this is: 1) The coach is pissed because the team lost or they had a bad practice and no question you ask is going to be answered in the manner you desire. But then, after a win, they are more than willing to answer whatever you ask. It's human nature for some coaches-"We just freaking lost;the last person I want to talk to is a journalist." This is actually rare. No matter what, I have had coaches that are open books. They like to talk to you about breakdowns in defensive schemes or whatever. 2) You are asking ridiculous questions that don't lend to good answers. It seems to me, as mentioned previously, this happens quite a bit with members of the press around here. You ask the same question over and over...what are you going to get out of it? You are going to get stupid, recycled answers. If I were getting the same answers or short answers, I often question my approach to the interview and try to change it. In Pelini's case, I think it's a case of both. Could he use a little polishing on this stuff? Probably. But, really, what does he "owe" journalists? Not a thing.
