  1. He looks very good on his video. Good Kickoff returner (something we might need after Paul leaves) and just an overall good athlete. He's someone that could come in and take the spot that would've been Carter's.
  2. I watched his video and found him to be similar to Aaron Green. Shorter than 6', fast, shifty, gets to his hole quickly. Very good in the open field. He'll be a good addition to a class that doesn't have any playmakers since Carter decommited.
  3. We can go OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for when OO gets some playing time.
  4. There has to be something done for this rule in the future as our game wasn't the only one affected by this type of situation(ND/Mich and FSU/Miami). But that won't change anything about the outcome of the game. It's done and over with, our best shot at changing anything would to keep bringing this up to either the Big XII or the NCAA for them to make it very clear as to what the refs should do in this sort of situation. The way they have the rule right now the refs should be able to review a situation where the clock runs down at a minimum of 3 seconds after the play was over and the ball is blown dead. But by calling the 1 second that ran off egregious, they are opening things up to where every second of the game could be brought up for the clock operators for wasting time. Of course that wouldn't happen because it's make the games 5+ hours, but the fact that there is now a possibility for it to happen should make the NCAA look into things and make the rule clear.
  5. People vote for Offensive players because it's easier to quantify their impacts on games. Whether it be Passing, Rushing, Receiving, Punt Return, or Kick Return yardage. On the defensive side of the ball you almost have to watch the whole game to normally see the impact of a player. Did he plug up the whole and ate lineman, but the linebacker or DB came up and got the tackle instead of him? How much was the offense altered because of his play. You have to watch them play a full 60 minutes, but since the voters usually don't have the time to do that, they stick with the QB, RB, and WR. Now with a guy like Suh it's much easier to vote for him because of the monster numbers he puts up. How many DTs out there that can get 82 tackles and 12 sacks? Those are more rush end numbers than a guy whose first job is to take on blockers so someone else can get the tackles. Add to the fact that there was no one capable of stopping him in the biggest game of the year for the Big XII and you get his hype-meter so far off the ground that it's really no surprise that he got invited to NYC.
  6. Mariotti doesn't have a vote, but I'm pretty sure the other three do. Cowlishaw and Ryan are probably the only ones 100%.
  7. Ryan and Page have Suh at number 1, Cowlishaw has him at number 2 behind Gerhart, but he doesn't have any QB's. I'm sure his number 3 is Ingram.
  8. That's disappointing. It seems like Suh is getting a lot of 1st place votes, but the people who aren't putting him at 1st place are more than likely going to leave him off their ballots all together rather than put him in 2nd or 3rd like they've been doing with Ingram and to an extent Gerhart. I wouldn't be surprised if Suh gets the most 1st place votes this year, which shows that at least some people don't have their heads up their aces. At least Ingram and Gerhart are at least the best of a down year on offense and they probably aren't going to give it to McCoy for a career achievement.
  9. I'm high on Brooks. I think he would've been a bigger part of this offense if he didn't get injured right when he started getting playing time. He could've played very similar to what Swift and Peterson did last year if he stayed healthy. Just didn't get his chance this year. But you're right I think that the biggest problem with this year's receivers were the dropped passes. Got to get that fixed before everything else.
  10. His most impressive play that I saw (didn't watch all the vids) was the one where he split a couple of defenders and was stumbling a bit. One of the opposing players looks like he has an angle on him, but then Lamb got his feet under him and ran by the two defenders with angles. Showed some serious speed and burst. Definitely need a game breaker like him and Carter.
  11. College Football Live is going to get a bunch of people's ballots on today's show, on ESPN right now. Spread the word
  12. Here's my projected DB starters for next year: CB: Dennard and Amukamara NB: Either Gomes or Hagg DB: Either Gomes or someone stepping up, maybe Blue if he gets to pre injury shape FS: Smith or Thenarse (depends on if he gets Medical Redshirt) SS: Hagg or Thenarse This does not take into account anyone who steps up or Freshmen ready to play. Really I have a hard time changing something that works, but Hagg has shown an inability to guard someone running a fly pattern. He's probably had somewhere between 3-5 Pass Interference penalties for face guarding over the season. He'd probably be a better fit at a safety position, which we are losing both starters next year. Dennard needs to learn how to catch and stay healthy but otherwise he's done a good job. Gomes has been very good as our Dime Back, will that translate to him earning a starting spot next year? Who knows. Thenarse is a good hitter and could end up being a player like Asante next year if he gets a medical reshirt for blowing out his knee during the ULL game. Smith has done good when he's gotten to play and hasn't made any glaring plays where he did bad. Overall he looks like he could be a good player. Really I think outside of Suh and possibly Dillard (depends on if Compton or whoever are able to play dime like he did, or we may just go into a 7 DB set) I think of the positions that we'll have to replace seniors on next year, I think there's going to be very little drop off of production.
  13. Yeah I think the 25 days will be more than enough to get the team rested up and focused on the game. I think the biggest thing going right for us in the next game is the fact that the Arizona QB is a straight drop back passer and is not a running threat, something that has given our defense our greatest trouble throughout the year (Reesing and Hanson).
  14. Turner had a great career at Nebraska. Started out with as a Freshman All-American, had a couple of injury filled years, but he pulled out a great year and an especially great game last night. While there will be players that will be able to step into his spot next year (seeing how great our depth is at DE for the next few years) he'll definitely be missed.
  15. The Pass Interference Call that led directly to the Field Goal was the worst and most costly call of the night. IIRC they didn't do anything with the ball afterwards and it's because of the call that they got into field goal range. Also did they get 15 yards on that penalty, was the play even 15 yards down field? Cause if it was under 15 yards and they gave them the 15 yards it's the wrong call. In college it's a spot foul under 15 yards and if the call is past 15 yards it's a 15 yard penalty. Some of the other calls were bad, but this was the only especially bad call (I'm not including the clock at the end of the game) that led directly to points for Texas. Also if Suh would've let up on the last play and didn't pressure McCoy as he did, the game would've been over. Damn you Suh.
  16. I think a lot of his success comes from the players that have surrounded him. He's still a great competitor and a great leader, but I think he's an average QB with above average athleticism and size. He had probably one of the greatest statistical years by a QB, but these past two years his media coverage has been too far off the charts. Bradford and McCoy had better years than him last year, and now that he doesn't have his deep threat WR or Harvin this year, his productivity has dropped even more. Good leader, Great Guy (probably) but I think it goes too far to throw him into the discussion for the greatest college football player ever. He's definitely top 20, but he's no where near top 5. Really I find him crying understandable because of the disappointment he probably felt. I remember during both my Junior and Senior years of High School I cried after our last games. My Junior Year was because it was the last time I'd see my brother play organized ball (been watching him since I was in like 1st grade) and then Senior Year because it'd probably be the last time I'd be involved with a football team (couldn't play because of heart problems). It sucks that he's getting ripped by people for it because it's a slap in the face for all those people who probably felt the same way he did after the game.
  17. I think something similar happened with Michigan and Washington State in the '97 Rose Bowl. You'd have to look it up but WSU pleaded for a second to be put on and got stoned. They would've been in position for a field goal, but this was also during Michigan's Co-National Championship year so take it as you may.
  18. I'm pretty sure the Big XII officiating supervisor came out and said that it was OK to review the clock. This thing has been posted at least 2 other times and there's more stuff in the other topics.
  19. Dennard's a Sophomore this year, West will be a Senior along with Hagg and Blue.
  20. I don't know if this has been discussed before but what about the Pistol Offense for Nebraska? This year Nevada has had 3 1000 yard rushers (first time ever) and have done reasonably well in every year that it's been used (at least I think, haven't done the research but I think they haven't finished with a record under .500). I'm just throwing this out there for something to discuss (though there really isn't a shortage of things this week).
  21. Add into the fact that he plays QB, he could be used as a Wildcat QB, though the same could be said about Burkhead who played QB during his Sophomore year in High School. That's something I'd like to see against Texas, the HB pass that worked so well when Lucky would throw it. Add to the fact that we haven't used it all year and it has the potential to be a big gainer.
  22. The worst year for the North would be in 2005 when no team had a better than .500 win percentage in conference. Nebraska beat Colorado by 27 and then Colorado lost in the CG by 67. It was just terrible. At least this year has Nebraska playing some best defense in the country, Mizzou playing really great on offense, and an up year for Iowa State where they were better then they were since 04 or something. Of course since the Husker offense has been so putrid in Big 12 play and Mizzou lost to Baylor that was without Robert Griffin things can be shown worse than they actually are.
  23. He hurt his back when he was just starting to become more involved in the offense (missed like 2 games because of that) and then when he got healthy we had already moved to the heavy sets that we've been running with only Paul at WR on the field. I don't think he got put in the dog house with Gilleylen and Holt, he just had crap luck with his injuries when he was finally getting some playing time.
  24. I know the Packers of Green and B. Jack, the Rams have Incognito and Carriker, those are the only two teams that I can think of that have more than one husker.
