  1. Having thought the game was rather vanilla and monotonous, I watched it again with my analyst wife and older son. The thing that should stand out here is that Taylor DID NOT check down on his reads. He keyed in on one receiver and one receiver only. If you go back and watch it again, look at how many times Cotton is open for a big a gain or TD and gets absolutely no look. Start with the last few plays of the first half and it just gets worst. Beck needs to change this, Taylor has the arm, just not the vision. Or, maybe he doesn't have confidence in his protection, very understandable, the O-Line sucks again. No physicallity, no passion. They couldn't knock of glass off a table as it was teetering. Sure everyone made mistakes, Rex, Legate and even David was caught out of position, but there is no excuse for Taylor not reading his receivers and making plays. All this game did was add confidence to the Mocs season.
  2. Looked like technique to me on defense. They were not prepared for the Pistol and the outside linebackers got caught inside instead of scrapping off. I believe they will work on this, but that doesn't explain the huge holes up the middle. Or, maybe it does, maybe they know they can't hold the middle of their D-line so the linebackers came to support and got caught. Either way they looked slow and T-Mart and Rexasuarus will eat them up.
  3. One last comment about the morons ref'ing the Whiskey game. Fair catch interference? First he didn't call fair catch and second he ran away from the ball. This group needs to sit for awhile, I just thought they had it in for us last year, nope, they are just stupid.

  5. Best cover for forgetting the words yet.
  6. What articles are you reading? The "near consensus"? According to several article I have read, the marine wasn't in uniform or even in the truck. He "ran to help" the driver. Quit spreading your racist comments or provide creditable links to your side of the story. Here's a report that seems to be a consensus that most are reporting. http://www.wafb.com/story/15298009/police-investigate-whether-lsu-football-players-involved-in-fight
  7. First we did win a championship with a well balanced pass and run team 71 (2311 not stellar passing numbers compared to current stats but well balanced). Second, the new offense will run from under center and get Taylor outside the tackles to give him more options. With a trailing back he can pitch or throw. If you watch any of Becks offense in the past, you will see that Reisling looked to an open area around the receiver, not just the route of his receivers. The zone read has its place and you will see it, but not 75% of the time. This will put responsibility on the receivers to get open or come back. IF the O-line is better, as everyone is predicting, this should work well in the BIG. (see Northwestern) Finally, Taylor was a freshmen last year that got hurt. Did he get rattled in some games, certainly. Did he make wrong reads and poor decision, most definitely. All the baggage from last year is gone (certain seniors that questioned his leadership)and it seems that the team is behind him 100%. I for one am looking forward to "Beck Ball" it should be exciting. Oh, one last thing, how many times are you watching any college game and you yell at the TV to roll the quarterback out to give him some options? Speed kills.
  8. Classic, I haven't been Rick Rolled in years, masterpiece!
  9. I love the Big Ten Network. I use to, and still do, break out old Husker games I have on VHS or DVD and start watching them in early June, (maybe May) heck sometimes April. You know, just to "get the feeling". Call me crazy, but I could start a Husker Classic channel, just ask my wife. Anyway, the Big Ten Channel. My grandmother was 4'9" and heralded from Milwaukee. Not only was she a "Packers" fan, but, a huge "Whisky" fan too, having raised my father in Madison. When I was younger we use to talk about the two schools, mine, "Big Red" and hers "Little Red" my nickname for them just to get her fired up. She would always talk about "if only Nebraska was in the Big Ten, we'd show you!" I never was a "fan" of the Big Ten because we had the Big 8, but I love college football so I didn't dislike them either. Whenever we played a Big Ten team I would call her and say "HA!". I miss her. She would be very happy that the Huskers joined "her" conference and I for one am glad I have a channel to turn on and not feel like some zelot to watch old college football games.
  10. I wanted the "Body Suit" but it doesn't come in my size.
  11. Here's a recipe I wait all year for. Be warned, you might not have any tomatoes left to ripen after this. Fried Green Tomatoes with Vadalia onion relish: * 3 or 4 large firm green tomatoes * Salt * 2 cups vegetable or peanut oil, for deep-frying * 1 cup buttermilk * 2 cups self-rising flour* * Freshly ground black pepper Vidalia Onion Relish: * 2 white onions, diced * 1/2 cup mayonnaise * 1/2 cup rice wine vinegar * 2 tablespoons brown sugar * 2 tablespoons chopped chives Directions Slice the tomatoes 1/4-inch thick. Lay them out in a shallow baking pan and sprinkle with salt. Place the tomato slices in a colander and allow time for salt to pull the water out of the tomatoes, approximately 30 minutes. In a skillet, heat the oil for deep-frying over medium-high heat. Dip the tomatoes into buttermilk, then dredge them into flour with a dash of pepper. Deep-fry until golden brown. Keep warm. For the Vidalia Onion Relish: Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let marinate for a few hours. *You can substitute all purpose flour and aprox. 2 tbls of cornstarch for the self rising, just mix well. The cornstarch will make the flour puff up.
  12. Why is this thread here? Someone trying to get a lot of hits on a non football subject? Move it! Ridiculous, and I'm a Yankees fan, for 45 years.
  13. Well, it was fun. I watched the MLB channel and they had an interesting take on all of this. They said the whole thing was ridiculous and that the MLB should stop doing what they did with Bubba Starling. Stating that the Royals new along that they would land him because the ground work was in place. "They never would have drafted him if the figures weren't right". It all make sense. I think it was BS if Bubba knew all along and he was just playing the game. I hope Nebraska fans AND Pelini learned from this experience, much like Frank did. Good thing we didn't waste a schollie on him.
  14. MLB channel aired a special on signing..DirecTV

  15. At least we have another schollie available, wish it was his but there is always the "next Bubba Starling" out there...
  16. I could be wrong, but this is why the MLB has dual athlete contracts. All the money is not guaranteed because of the possibility they would leave for another sport. That is why it is weighted so heavily toward the end and why he might want more money upfront. Just a guess.
  17. Brian Greise just said on College football Blitz that we lost to Washington in the Holiday Bowl 56-21, had to rewind to make sure. Have another beer for me Brian

    1. C N Red

      C N Red

Pretty sure that was the score when we beat them at their house.

  18. There's a lot involved here. The contract will spread out over a 5 year period. Maybe 1-2 million upfront and the bulk paid at the end to ensure he plays out his contract. Right now the rumor is 8.5 million, I believe this is why he wants 10 million so the first payment is worth giving up another dream. 3-4 million up front sounds better than 1-2
  19. Ahhh...but don't forget that $ Bill Byrne and their school President went on the offensive with that and said aTm never agreed to or signed anything regarding a 10-team Big XII. That was two or three months ago in the DMN paper--I'll see if I can find it. If there's even a shred of truth to this statement, then the Big XII will be forced to settle with aTm for exit fees, not unlike what Nebraska did with the Big XII when the league was confident they were getting $20-30 million from us, and ultimately got approx. $9 million instead. So I wouldn't worry too much about that 10 year contract, especially since it's supposedly null and void once the conference dips below 10 teams. I believe you are right. I remember reading that aTm would not sign the agreement, maybe in the OWH.
  20. Let's all remember, A&M, along with all the remaining Big 12 teams, signed a 10 year contract to stay with the league. The SEC does not want any part of breaking that contract, its not their business. A&M must find a way out of it or settle up with a payment before they can move. Along with the process of applying and voting..this will happen.
  21. In a bold move today, ESPN and Texas have announced the formation of a brand new conference to be called "THE ESPN Conference." Texas athletic director Deloss Dodd in a statement to some boosters said, " If A&m leaves, we will make Notre Dame our b*tch!" Following that statement, Oklahoma in a 12 hour surgery was remove from Dodd's arse and given free rein to join the PAC 12. Missouri, not to be out done, got off its knees and quickly left to C-USA. In a statement from the newly formed "THE ESPN" Chip Brown of Orangeblood.com has been named head of Marketing and P\R. Chip said " I am very excited to get this rolling and see if it grows legs."
  22. Why are we giving this rumor legs? It wasn't Peter Gammons from MLB.com it was some other hack. Look at "theknife"s post.
