  1. Figured i'd post it here rather than make a new thread. Suh is scheduled to be on sportscenter in about 30 minutes (11:40 ct).
  2. I don't even bother to run unless it's an option T-Mart to Burkhead. I don't feel that this game rewards you enough for running. Sometimes I will go in shotgun then run on the side where there are no blockers at to get the first down with Martinez. Overall the game is fun but it is very difficult when the AI scores everytime it gets the ball in the last 2 minutes. Too true my friend. Running seems to be just as hard as it was last year, i used last year sliders on 2012 to help even the game out. The result was Martinez's opening week he ran for 189 yards and Burkhead has 111 yds on the ground. Even Jamal Turner broke open for a 41 yd touchdown after a Jet Sweep handoff against FCS Midwest. Passing to me has become harder, almost near impossible without touching the sliders on the game. This is the biggest problem I have. Last year I think I threw at most 3 picks in a game just the other day online (seems like the AI is harder online) I threw 5 of them and only 1 or 2 were really poor choices. The rest were linebackers making their famous 30 inch vert superman pick on long balls that would sky any real life linebacker. Or a combination of the superman and warping... and they said that wouldn't happen anymore... Although its more of them AI being able to do a 180 and leap the opposite direction in a fraction of a second. And the other nasty one which really messes me up I just noticed tonight. Was the DB's playing in front of the WR's and coming around behind them and beating them to the ball on a crossing type route.
  3. With the exception of the first next-generation game, NCAA 2007, each installment has been better than the previous. Each year the game gets more realistic and less annoying to deal with. I don't think we'll take a step back until they come out with new consoles in about three or four years. The one thing that sucks about sports games is if you don't trade them in relatively soon after getting them, you get next to nothing back for your trade-in. I don't know about less annoying it's always about the same level of annoying for me even though the next game is always better than the last. EA has a history, to me, of under achieving and I fall for it every year. Doesn't mean I don't like the games They just frustrate the hell out of me more often than not. Rant on: This year they still haven't fixed PA passes and most of them don't work without getting sacked before you can even think about passing, which really screws with the poor play calling in RTG. Also left over from last year is the AI's ridiculous accuracy during the 2 minute drill although it's not quite as bad, they do seem to have some trouble once they get into the red zone. And there are some new issues like the huge lag time when you trying to use no huddle the game freezes for a good 2 or 3 seconds, and you can't access the play menu for a frustratingly long amount of time even when it runs again. The biggest issue that I noticed was when the opposing offense runs no huddle and they make a long play down field you players can't get back to the line before they snap the ball and you get an offsides penalty, happened to me twice in one game since the AI is ridiculous on the 2 minute drill. But hopefully this and the lag can be fixed in a future update. I just don't understand how they can always add new ideas and concepts and leave some really sketchy stuff in there by now they should have a close to stellar game. Rant off On a positive note next to FIFA this is probably the best non-shooting game by EA and it looks pretty damn good and plays for the most part very smooth with the new tackling engine.
  4. 1. how do our vehicles not burn up entering the atmosphere? 2. who knows but technology is always advancing 3. they are detected by radar in many cases, just google it and you get a bunch of hits. But like you said in #2 often times they completely out maneuver our fighters. I do find it hard to believe that we are alone in this vast universe. Have they made it here yet, I don't quite know what to think about that. But UFO's are just that, UFO's and sometimes they cannot be identified.
  5. That is probably on of the dumbest things I've ever heard of. On a side not I used to live over there...
  6. 1. Black 41 flash reverse 2. Harold Hartley's 60-yard TD catch against Notre Dame in 1922 3. Alex Henery Kick, Suh Pick 4. Mike Rozier's 100 yard run that went 5 yard for the TD against UCLA 1983 5. Will Shields's fumblerooski vs CU in 1992 6. The bounce rooskie 1982 vs Oklahoma 7. Prince Amukamara's INT vs. Oklahoma in 2009 8. Nate Swifts punt return against Virginia Tech in '08 9. Marlon Lucky touchdown pass to Nate Swift against Texas 10. 1982 - Scott Strasburger interception to end OU's final drive and sealed the victory for NU 28-24. It's a toss up between 1&2 for me I know how important the 1922 game was but it's so distant and there's not much there too see, but every time I watch Black 41 Flash it gives me chills, especially with the radio play by play over-dub.
  7. Or last year a QB draw, but if he was feeling ballzy he might mix in a little bubble screen that averages 3-4 yards.
  8. Rodriguez probably would have turned out exactly like Callahan, in fact it seems like he pretty much did at Michigan. An offense that could work but a lack of defense to win games, and an alienation of the boosters and alums, they pretty much pissed people off in the same way. Both good coaches but ended up in the wrong places.
  9. Some how I manged to listen to a minute of that, and the worst part is that it was stuck in my head for the next hour!
  10. How is that I am busy during that entire time?! Set the dvr! gotta love remote dvr didn't even have to get up and turn the tv on... God I feel lazy now...
  11. That my friend is the fascination and today they hardly come at the expense of gas mileage unless you get an srt8 or something like that.
  12. burnouts?? Mhmmm Better this than some crap ass bands like Nickleback, Creed, or some pop group Don't flame me too hard for this but give Creed some props, although their front man is a douche and has absolutely zero voice talent left the rest of that band can play and Mark Tremonti can absolutely shred a guitar.
  13. That trailer has been for over a week now, it was there when I got groceries last weekend.
  14. Right, it's not because he's a student athlete who has classes and life outside of football... He puts in the hours and effort at practice, the weight room and film studies I'm sure, otherwise I guarantee you Bo would not have him on the field come Saturdays. Not to mention he's got to keep his grades up to even qualify to play. Your asking a 20 year old kid to sacrifice even more of his life than he already has when the vast majority of guys his age are out getting drunk and chasing tale. I think I'll give him a little leeway in his throwing motion and if he decides to work on it... hey, that's ok with me too. Well, I think it's too bad that our starting QB is apparently too busy to figure out how to improve his throwing motion, hips, feet, or any of the half dozen other problems with his throwing abilities. Perhaps he really isn't to blame and between all the other responsibilities that Husker QB has to contend with, there is simply no room to improve passing mechanics. If so, then perhaps we ought to think twice about bringing in QBs who don't arrive with solid passing fundamentals so they can just spend time in film study, the weight room, and learning the plays at practice. Did I say there wasn't room to improve? No. But a majority of coaches would rather not touch a quarterbacks throwing motion unless something is catastrophically wrong with it. Going back to free throws for a second, you develop a rhythm and sometimes when you mess with the rhythm you screw a lot more things up than you had wrong before. Look at Tebow (as much as I don't want to use that name) Meyer never touched his motion and he got through college just fine if I remember correctly, even got a few awards and won a couple big games. It was only when people started evaluating him for the pro's that he bothered to look into it. And it took him more than a summer to get things changed, in fact he's probably still working on getting that motion down. Now does Taylor need work yes, but is that the biggest offensive problem from last year I doubt it. Look at dropped balls line play and the like as well. But like Zoogie says the fact that Taylor knows the plays and has a year under his belt really does mean a lot more than a year of running the scout team.
  15. You're not the first Jayhawk I've heard say that. My Uncle's family in Lawrence was pretty impressed with him too and pretty taken back by his performance against k-state. They couldn't believe how we were so in love with him at the beginning of the year and suddenly everyone wanted him gone by the end.
  16. Good stuff! Had the heads covered so I looked left due to cleavage, but right has a better face on further review.
  17. Don't mean to be rude, but I'm getting kind of sick of hearing the whole greatest fans in college football thing. Don't get me wrong I like the fact that the people in the Southwest corner cheer the other team out no matter what, but if it means I can't heckle the other team and yell obscene things at them from time to time where's the fun in that. And can you blame people for sitting down on a two or more score deficit, just a few years ago there was no hope for a comeback. It probably became habit. Truth be told I'm still getting used to the fact that we have a team that can adjust at half time and come back to actually win a game.

  19. That's embarrassing... read the line "first practice in full pads" and I new something wasn't right...
  20. I hurt my ankle pretty bad playing basketball almost 8 years ago. I must have tweaked it when I was walking to class yesterday, because it was hurting me to the point where I was limping for a while. Ankle injuries are something that can stay with you for a long time. I can't imagine Martinez's ankle standing up to the kind of stress football entails; making cuts, twisting when getting tackled, etc. Most people fail to realize the lingering effects of ankle injuries, once its been injured, its much more likely to become re-injured. Do you have any idea how many athletes have tweaked an ankle and come back from it in just the last 12 months alone? It happens all the time. People talk about Taylor recovering from this ankle thing like it's a complete long shot and will probably never happen... EVERY athlete hurts an ankle at some point. Many have hurt their ankles WORSE than Taylor and went on to have successful careers with no or limited lingering effects. He hurt his ankle, couldn't heal cause he was playing every week, took a couple months off, got quite a bit better, now he'll take a few more months off and be fine. He's not sitting on a couch all day, he's not going to "tweak" it walking to class. Well if you want another anecdotal story that would support him recovery almost fully. I got a high ankle sprain my senior year of high school the first half of the first game. Landed on a pile and someone rolled over my lower leg and it made a popping sound, I swore I broke the thing because I couldn't put any weight on it. Playing left tackle its a real bitch trying to push off of that thing and fall back on it in pass pro, I can't imagine trying to cut on it at speed like he was asked to do. It took me almost the whole season to fully recover, but after 5 or 6 games it was about 90%. The only lasting effects I've notice are that my right ankle (the one I sprained) is a little bit stiffer than the left. I've played basketball, football, and softball on it for 5 years and never had a problem other than pain from a casual roll of the ankle that goes away after a day or two, and that's more from having loose ankles that have been rolled numerous times playing sports since I was a kid. Now I think we had a great trainer but obviously he didn't have the equipment and facilities they do at NU so I'm going to go out on a limb and say Taylor's ankle will be just fine come this season. I'm more concerned with his turf toe being a chronic issue than his ankle at this point. Not sure about the context of Taylor's quote before, but he could be talking about his toe and not the ankle. From more personal experience toes seem to be the one injury that feels fine one week and you land on it just right the next and boom! You're back to square one again with the pain... But like you said it's all just speculation...
  21. *Update* looks like Bo is going to be on ESPNU's College Football Spring Blitz sometime with in this half hour. If you've got the new screwed up time warner in Lincoln its channel Digital: 303 HD:1303
  22. As a kid my fondest memories where of the afternoon kickoffs to the Stone's Start Me Up, but I think those are better for suited for the first couple warm-up games. The atmosphere of night games just oozes big time game to me. People are loose and actually awake and cheering. And dare I say most of the gray-hairs are probably at home because the game will go past their bed time. The Oklahoma game is the prime example I've been to so far, simply electric! Although if you do go in the day time like it was mentioned earlier you get the chance for some crazy weather in October and November like we had at the texas game in '06 I believe; bright and sunny then light snow, then heavy snow and some wind, then sun and a heart break.
