  1. His name is Petteway and he averaged 19 not 29. This is not a tourney team next year, but two more years they'll sniff it and three hopefully they're in.
  2. Curious what your guys' thoughts are on the pitching situation. I assume it's not coaching, with Silva's reputation, but could be wrong. Is it lack of talent? Lack of mental toughness? Experience? Personally I believe it's a combination of average talent and extreme weak-mindedness. The whole team seems to be mentally weak if you ask me. Hopefully that's something they can get corrected. I really wish we knew more about Kubat's status. Right now they have one pretty solid starter in DeLeon and then they have to piece together the last couple innings and next two games as you never know what you'll get from the relievers or Pierce/Hander. If you assume Kubat was where he left off last year, or improved, you now have two solid starts and many options going into game 3 where you're hopefully going for a sweep instead of still trying to win the series. Unfortunately it's looking more and more like we're not going to see him this year. Hopefully these other guys step up, some of them have been here long enough it's time to p*ss or get off the pot.
  3. Warren Nolan now has Nebraska at 69. 16th toughest schedule. Next three opponents: KSU-114 Northwestern-115 Iowa-111 They really need to keep the bats hot, find some consistent pitching, and pick up 6 or 7 of the next 8.
  4. I politely disagree. This kid's wind up isn't quite the slowest I've seen, but in terms of DI prospects it's pretty bad. He loads at about the same pace as Ubel, but he won't have the space because opposing D's will know he's in to shoot. He barely elevates, starts too low, and takes too long to wind up. If Doc were here this kid would never see the floor, but I have confidence this staff can work with him and maybe even turn him into a 10-12 minutes a game type of guy that can come in and score quickly when it's needed, but they have their work cut out for them.
  5. That hit wasn't even remotely clean. Completely dirty move by that kid that he got a flagrant for. I thought he should of been kicked out for it. Agree. My group all thought there was enough there to toss him if the refs decided they wanted to. That was bad.
  6. I've been very critical of Boehm and his staff, especially in recent years, and they really have a lot to work on. But the focus should be on gameday atmosphere and such, if peeing in front of others is your biggest concern then you're reaching to find something to bitch about.
  7. I'm fairly certain Atewe will be N. He's really Miles only target for this season, there's an outside possibility of a JUCO but basically Miles has put all his focus on Atewe and future prospects. With the positive energy and momentum NU has right now, you have to imagine focusing all their efforts on one kid will result in him being here.
  8. I have season tickets so I've never had to pay for anything outside I would think between scalpers and GA a guy could buy 4 tickets with cash, easily Nebraska won so let's be happy Cookie monster never swallows his cookies A game with the kids should be worth a short wait in line Anger Is Peanut actually a representation of Jeff Dunham's repressed homosexual feelings? Tell us how you really feel
  9. Once Miles gets it going in a couple years, I'll be happy with finishing 4th-8th in conference most years, every once in awhile finishing a little worse, maybe a little better. Never be completely eliminated from the bubble until the last few games of the season. Always go into the conference tourney thinking you have a chance at a couple wins. It's hard for me to say make the tourney every X amount of years when I barely remember the last time they went.
  10. Jackson has an offer and is already committed to NU. Pretty doubtful he makes it to campus, though. I don't know the Reetz family but know a ton of people from the Firth/Norris area. Everyone I've talked to that knows them believes he'll go to school.
  11. Pitchford is nowhere near a bruiser, but he's much closer than Vucetic.
  12. I chuckle when I see Kurkowski mentioned on message boards. I understand most of you guys have never seen him play and he's one of only a few big guys, but I promise you Kye will not see PT next year. He won't even be on the team if Miles signs two bigs this spring.
  13. Miles has offered him, hasn't he? According to Rivals he doesn't have an offer
  14. Gotta love that he mentions Nebraska right away. With the buzz Miles has created, the program is not an after-thought right now.
  15. Last I saw, Ubel thought he'd be good to go. As upset as Miles was after Purdue, I'd think they'll come out with a little fire and go get this one. PSU has kept a lot of their games close until the last 6 minutes or so and then they implode. Hopefully Miles and Co. can hang with and pull away late. I think they will.
  16. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Doc also have higher caliber players and better athletes? Some of those good players Doc had left when we hired Miles, IIRC. Your not raining on anyone's parade, but I think your looking at a coach doing the same that our previous coach was doing. Yes, by numbers your right, but doing as much, with less talent and still competing close with big teams, is what I am impressed with. Doc averaged 61 PPG defensively, while Miles is at 62 PPG. I also believe the competition in the B1G is much tougher this year than last year. No. He may have had a couple more on the team, but they weren't much better. That's why he didn't win more. They may have had more potential, but as players in the moment they were not much better. Miles will do great things while here and he is getting tremendous effort out of his guys and I'm astonished at how well they've done. I just didn't want people to forget that Doc's teams also played their asses off and were extremely good on defense.
  17. I want the "shut up and fish" girl....
  18. I don't mean to rain on the parade here cause I'm as big a Miles supporter as there is, but I don't find this that impressive. Doc would have also had very similar results, holding everyone but 3 to under 70 points. He would also be in the neighborhood of 9-9... which is why he got fired. These guys were all recruited to come in and hold teams under 70. We can see some of the Miles effect in the way this team fights and looks to score instead of running clock every possession, but the biggest difference we'll see is in years to come as we watch better players come in and watch players actually develop as they grow in the program.
  19. My intentions were not to imply the B1G is weak. However, it's not going to be as tough as facing 7 top 50 teams. There are a few salty teams, but the rest... not so much.
  20. I look for the non-con to rough up the 'skers a bit. Thing is, that's perfectly fine. Losing to this level of competition is still beneficial as the conference schedule will seem much lighter. In only year two I'm more than happy to win the conference to get in and not get to host just yet. That's what year 3 or 4 is for...
  21. Who will take the mound for the 'skers on opening day? Have they carried over what was happening at the end of the season last year and planning on Kubat being their ace or is someone else taking over that role? Anybody have any inside info?
  22. 1- I would agree with this except for one thing: this staff is still trying to close on HALF it's recruiting class. 2 embarassing blowouts against real competition (UGA means a little more than Iowa) do not help you close on guys considering you or Ohio State. 2- Maybe, but their stated goal all year hasn't been "prove we are good" it's been "prove we're champions". After an entire year of convincing yourself that's all that matters, it can be hard to change your mindset once that's out the window. I hope you're right, though.
  23. With Nebraska accepting a Cap One bid and a matchup with most likely Georgia, I can't help but think how badly Bo has made January 1 for himself. He and his players spent the whole week saying "if we don't win Saturday, all this was for nothing" and after the game "this was a failure, we set out for a championship and we failed." Take a defeated attitude into a month of bowl prep and you will not be prepared to play your best. Now add to that an opponent in Georgia. 4 yards from playing for the 'ship. Screwed themselves over with horrendous clock management. Those boys are gonna be fired up. The talent disparity alone would be enough to make this game a potential blood path (if you thought Wisconsin was running circles around NU, wait til them southern boys start runnin), but add onto it the two different frames of mind, oh boy. You may not want to watch Jan. 1.
  24. I would encourage you guys to do everything you can to get a great atmosphere Monday. Email the University asking them to run promotions (although it's late in the game for this, and they've been made aware of my disappointment), email newspapers asking them to run stories on it encouraging fans to go, go to the game yourself and bring lots of people that like to yell, and if you're a student: get your ass to the game and bring 10 rowdy friends with you!
  25. Did anyone else just hear Bill O'Brien say on live tv his seniors are "a bunch of f*ckers..."? Pretty sure he just crossed the words 'fighters' and 'focused' but he definitely said 'f*ckers'
