  1. That was ridiculous. He should get a huge punishment for that hit, totally uncalled for. From what i understand, the Arkansas coaches tossed him from the game immediately No. The ref tossed him immediately
  2. So nobody should ever celebrate, ever, because on every single play someone could be potentially seriously hurt. That's what you're saying. The player should make the big hit, but stop and see whether the opponent laying on the ground is OK before celebrating every time, and if they don't, they're showing an inhuman reaction. After we sacked Cousins those several times, we should have gotten up, checked his health, and then celebrated. That is so wholly unrealistic. When do you ever see this happen? Watch Lawrence Taylor's reaction after Theisman's leg is snapped in two. It's less than celebratory. LT invented high energy play.
  3. TMart: 1-6 0 yds INT and sack Not sure how quarterback ratings work, but I'm pretty sure that stat line has to render the lowest score possible
  4. I don't really see what having Rex run the option instead of Martinez gives us as far as a fun twist. Whether it's Rex or TMart, the D has to be concerned about the QB running the ball. I trust Rex to throw about as much as I trust Martinez.
  5. Here, I will give you something to laugh at today then, Boulder SUCKS!!! So do the brain dead pot head f**k tards that live there! I have family out there and they fall into that same group also! Amen. the scenery is nice but that's about it. The people, CU fans or not, are pretty jacked up. Pick anything that makes sense anywhere else on the planet and Boulderites won't get it. I live about 50 miles from there and I know what I'm talking about. Not to bring politics into it but if you think the old USSR was onto something and you prefer government control of everything then you might like Boulder. Weed is the only thing they don't regulate over there. Could you be more specific?
  6. I agree with the tone of this post. I think a good indication of Beck as the OC is the penalty situation. Not nearly as many delay of game, illegal formation, false starts as we've seen in recent years.
  7. They were Suh-ing, he was there along with a bunch of other huskers They weren't booing. They were saying Buuuu-urns!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zW_kkZMMScs
  8. You know, sometimes it has a lot to do with the coaches and the talent on the roster, more than scheme. I know, mind-blowing. Solich and Osborne officially ran the same offense. Yet Osborne and his staff could coach up players, game plan, and set up play calls. Solich? No, no, and not to save his life....respectively.
  9. I think it does say something about Raymond and the under performance of the DBs. This move may pay dividends eventually, but it kinda reminds me of Cody Glenn's move to LB when Bo got here. He was decent, but it spoke more about the state of our LB depth than about him as a standout player. It smells like a bit of desperation, but why not? The unit can't perform much worse, can they?
  10. Oh, and was friends with a kid in high school who grew up a die hard CU Buffs fan. He turned out to be a back up QB for the Huskers named Joe Chrisman
  11. Played a pick up basketball game with Kenny Bell a little over a year ago. I'm guarding some skinny kid with a fro. Seen him do a Vince Carter elbow dunk in warm ups. I mentioned to a guy I know 'that kid is f***ing athletic'. He says, 'yeah, he's from Fairview in Boulder. He's going to Nebraska on a football scholarship'. Thanks to Huskerboard, knew the name. Told him that I usually try to take out guys knees that I'm guarding (joke, obviously), but I'd make an exception for him since I'm a die hard Huskers fan and we need some speed at WR. He laughed.
  12. These stats are worthless. You win when you have a ton of rushing yards because you are owning the line of scrimmage and playing with a lead. Thread might as well have the premise "we should try to have the best offensive line and always be ahead on the scoreboard. Then we'll win more" From what I can tell, NU is 7-1 under Pelini when throwing for 300+ yards. Maybe we should throw it 50 times a game to get to that magic number.
  13. This is utter crap. It may very well be crap. It is not utter crap. Mostly I thought it was funny, the whole Dirk/Taylor thing. The "where your loyalties lie" was over-the-top hyperbole, and zoogies took me to task for it already. If you want to grind on me for that post, you'll have to get in line. Well, the fact that it was apparently somewhat tongue in cheek takes it down to merely 'crap'. Good call.
  14. Bo's not going to go too much into the details of his scheme/adjustments. He doesn't want opposing coaches knowing how he or how his assistants think, and he at least wants opposing coaches to have to spend some time in the film room to figure out what Nebraska's doing. I'd love to see reporters write more about the substance and nuance of the game, but they're not going to get much out of Pelini about his scheme in the middle of the season - they'll have to do their own research. It wouldn't be that hard - guys like Damon Benning and Rob Zatechka are apparently more than willing to insert themselves into the public discourse. I'd like to see journalists put them to work explaining the details of the game, rather than asking about Martinez's passing mechanics for the thousandth time. No one's asking for Pelini to put on a John Maddenesque white board presentation. It's pretty easy to give that question a valid answer without scratching much of the surface in regards to scheme. Coaches answer these questions all the time with general bullets like 'we made some personnel changes to take better advantage of some matchups......we ran some stunts with our D-line.........we ran some more zone in the defensive backfield.............disguised our blitzes better....." etc. There's nothing here that says much of anything specific. And if opposing coaches are scouring the post game presser for tips on how to beat Nebraska rather than watching film, then Bo should be answering questions like mad, lying his ass off about his scheme to outwit the competition. Hell, he could have an entire press conference of planted questions and have a field day with the opposition.
  15. This is utter crap. Most of the criticism in this fiasco levied at Pelini has nothing to do with loyalties. I have no loyalty to the press. I am a fan of this program. So when I see the coach acting in what I deem an immature way toward the press, I'll say so. I like what our head coach stands for. I think it speaks volumes when players and recruits say they take his word as golden. I think he has a great mind for the game he teaches. The overall point that I see being made by posters, who apparently have the unmitigated insolence to call it as they see it, is that the press will be the press. Some of you feel that the DC article was out of line. I didn't think it was a horribly unfair criticism, but that's me. Worse articles have been written and are being written that are directed at athletes, amateur and professional alike. The Nebraska sporting press is not an intimidating gauntlet to walk through. I'd like to see the head coach of MY program take the high road, answer questions (generically or candidly) WITHOUT taking attention away from the game that was played so we can witness a dick measuring contest between him and the local scribe.
  16. No. The defense found OSU's backup quarterback. I saw an Ohio St. team that lost their QB and tried to kill the clock and hold on for dear life. Defense has a LONG ways to go.
  17. I have a feeling there wouldn't be nearly this many comments about the booing had this team played the second half like they did the first.
  18. There are a lot of coordinators that have trouble with mobile QBs. That being said, I have been very disappointed by this defense's inability to either pressure the quarterback or keep him in the pocket.
  19. Fans have every right to criticize, just like the coaches and players have every right to respond. And you're completely wrong about 1996/1997 - Tom Osborne did speak out against the boos. Furthermore, Pelini spent all week teaching his team life lessons about family, about togetherness, and about perseverance. For most of the week, the fans and the media represented the exact opposite of that. How is Pelini supposed to teach his players about sticking together and while ignoring the fact that half the fan base has deserted them? The fans have every right to boo, and to act the way they did last week, but it's entirely hypocritical to criticize the players and coaches without being able to take any criticism yourself. In fact, the fans take criticism way, WAY worse than Pelini or any members of his team. Grow up. Osborne also told Frost to not let the boos get under his skin. I think TO dealt with his share of criticism without being especially confrontational with the media and fans. There are quite a few coaches in major college football that don't react the way Pelini does whenever he gets a question he's not super fond of. Half the fan base has deserted them? Nice statistic. Too bad it doesn't exist. My feelings aren't hurt. Pelini could flip off the entire stadium next week, and I wouldn't care. What makes me laugh is people like yourself who give him a pass for anything he does. If you want to continue to be his lap dog, fine. I simply offer that you can support him without agreeing with everything that comes out of his mouth.
  20. When has he done that? Also, I'm not gonna spoon feed you the DC article, because one google search will find it for you. I read that article. What's unfair about it? I eagerly await your response.
  21. Some of the responses here just blow my mind. First of all, can someone point to an article written about Martinez after the Wisconsin game where he is being attacked or unfairly criticized? Second, I'm one of the first to roll his eyes at the 'we're the greatest fans' notion every time it is uttered, but I'm issuing a likewise f#*k YOU to all of the 'you fans should be embarrassed of yourselves' threads and posts. I don't boo when I go to games because it's just kind of obnoxious, but I don't remember TO and Scott Frost spitting back at the media when he was roundly booed to start the '97 season (a year in which we won the whole damn thing BTW). Pelini needs to grow the hell up and understand that things are about as good here as he can ask for. He has a loyal, supportive, rabid fan base that does go over the edge at times either way, but when you buy the ticket at a major college football program, shut up and take the RIDE! I think it's hilarious how some of you defend everything he does. The guy could come out tomorrow and say he hates corn on the cob, and half of you would write posts saying 'yeah, f#*k corn on the cob. Gets stuck in your teeth. Not a lot of nutritional content. Good for BO!' Jesus. Pelini could sh#t on a plate, call it stroganoff, and some of you would line up for seconds. Criticizing the coach doesn't mean you disown, ex-communicate, or call for his firing. It means you make a fair assessment and speak your mind. And fairly criticizing the team on message boards doesn't mean you're a troll or a black eye for the fan base. If Pelini hates the media, fine. Bite your tongue, give vanilla answers, and reserve your candor for your team. What I'm hearing in Martinez's confrontational answers channels his coach, and that's not a good thing IMO. Here's a thought. Win a high profile game and THEN bitch about how you and your team aren't getting the credit you deserve.
  22. I keep hearing about how Martinez was skewered in the press? Can someone please point out an article where the writer called for his benching, or offered a completely unfair critique?
  23. I have the same concerns. If the DE is not trying to get around his block in this system and is instead trying to collapse the pocket, then why aren't they containing better? If we're going to let the QB break contain on every 3rd down, then let's at least set the ends loose and see if they can beat their blocks. There was a spell in the 3rd quarter where it was embarrassing how much time they had to throw when we brought 4. I am nominating the DLine as the most disappointing aspect of the Huskers so far, because this was supposed to be one of the best in the country.
  24. Curb your enthusiasm guys. The OP is here to put us in check.
