  1. We went 2-2 against teams that mattered. The Big XII North is a joke. Funny that you bring up Solich. I think he deserved to be fired. But since we are now apparently relegated to beating up on weak teams and underacheiving against good teams, maybe we should bring him back
  2. What quarterbacks has he produced? Bobby Pesavento? Zac Lee? Every game we hear about how poor Martinez's footwork is. What evidence is there that Watson is a great QB coach?
  3. We Husker fans actually EXPECT the defense to win the game for us because we know the offense can't. And when they don't completely dominate an opponent, they got owned? Ridiculous.
  4. A statement like this is usually an exaggeration, expressed for effect. Sadly, I think it is a completely honest evaluation of the situation.
  5. Most good plays like this by the offense are. If the defense gets all their assignments, you are usually stopped. Doesn't take away from what happened. Enough with the fumble problem already. It's an epidemic. This was definitely a team loss. When the D gives up 455 yards and is directly responsible for 3 scores as a result of big plays, it's amazing that they are regarded as the half of the team that showed up. The two best offenses we faced this year completely blew apart our vaunted D. I don't say this as a knock on the coaches or anything, it's just a fact. We needed the O to win both of those games and unfortunately, we only got it done on one of them. I expected a lot better out of the D tonight. As far as the O, I expected both better and worse. I didn't expect an opening like we had. I didn't expect to ever move the ball with the ease we did at first, but I did not expect the turnovers and the lack of reliance on running when we needed to. I agree with Hercules here, this was a total team loss. The fact that you didn't expect the offense to be able to move the ball against a sh#t run defense speaks to just how far the standards have fallen for the offense. The fact that the defense holds OU to 2 of 15 on 3rd downs and was CONSTANTLY put in bad spots by the offense putting the ball on the turf is completely unreasonable. Wake up please. It's the offense, stupid! (not a personal attack. Simply turning a phrase)
  6. You're presuming that the rumors actually affect the team, or something about this game. Everyone citing this or that rumor is just guessing, and the team knows it. They're 99% focused on Oklahoma, and frankly they don't care about the rumors (because there are always rumors about something) and they don't care what we posit here on the internet. They care about what's going on in the locker room, and they have the full story. Mostly they just roll their eyes at this stuff, chuckle, and wonder who dreams some of it up. And you're presuming to know what is going on in the mind of every kid on the team.
  7. And here's why: So Martinez and his Dad tell Pelini flat out 'we're gone at season's end'. Ok, but then why is Taylor still here now? Having a guy that is breaking team rules AND threatening to transfer would get absolutely NO protection from Pelini, IMO. I don't know the man, but everything that I do know says that he would sooner kick a guy like that off the team and be done with it, rather than let it become a distraction and take focus away from the guys that will be here. Maybe some of the stuff is true, and maybe Martinez is transferring at the end of the year, but I just don't see Pelini covering for him and his Dad after they supposedly walk into his office and try to strong arm him.
  8. this pretty much says it all. 2 different schools, tons of different players. some good teams, some bad teams. some injuries, some defections. But generally, pretty freaking CRAPPY results. Just for example in 2001 watson looks like complete genius riding those horses to 62 against us. Then the next week CRAPS THE BED and only puts up 3 against texass. So typical. watson sucks, my friends. don't be fooled by 2 or 3 decent games a year against sub-par defenses, cuz if someone smacks his offense in the mouth, it crumbles and he has no counter-punch. If our all world Blackshirts weren't saving his ass every game, it would be much worse. MUCH worse. 2 goal line stands against SDSU 6 turnovers gained v Idaho (including 2 pick 6) 2 picks in 3 minutes (one for a TD) v ISU, plus an OT pick at the goal line 9points given up on the road v aTm only 87 total yds in a measly 20-3 win v KU a HUGE goal line stand v Mizzou only up by 14, long after our huge start had stalled thats 6 games off the top of my head where our defense SHUTS the DOOR on the opponent or it could've been much worse result Wrong. CU won that game 39-37. Otherwise, point taken.
  9. Gary Crowton from LSU. He has an excellent track record, has worked with Bo before, and it's a well-known fact in Baton Rouge that he and Les Miles don't see eye-to-eye. Congrats on finding a coordinator that has unequivocally under acheived even more than Watson. There's a reason LSU fans have been clamoring for this guy to be gone. #90 in total offense, and were pretty bad the year before as well.
  10. Enough people, please. The fullback is not part of this offense. Neither Cory Schlesinger or the Mackovica bros are coming out of that tunnel anytime soon. Your revision of history is somewhat entertaining though. We weren't exactly moving the ball on the ground in chunks against A&M. The passing game was employed, not to be cute, but because we had our share of long yardage situations. Unfortunately, a couple throws did not end up in our hands. This offensive line is at the very most, inconsistent. At worst, they are front runners that beat on weaker teams, but get smacked by big, athletic DLines. All that being said, your last point I am in agreement with. After a while, it's time for some accountability.
  11. NO, TO speaking highly of Wats vindicates him. The fact that the lack of offense can be attributed to injures vindicates him. The only argument to fire him is lack of production last year (we have discussed all the losses he had to deal with last year) and this year playing with a third string qb who suffered a concussion. The people who call for him to be fired seem to think that the efing third string should produce as good or better than the starter. Just like last year when Zac was hurt all year they still blame wats for poor production. I will say this again look at what happened to Alabama today when they went down to their 2nd string qb, their offense basically shut off. Yet when wats struggles with a 3rd string qb he is ran through the ringer. Name one game when everyone was healthy that our offense was out coached, and that Wats did not have a game plan that put us in a position to win. no, no, no! even when TM was healthy, he couldn't call anything but the zone read against Texas, even though it was defensed perfectly by UT, he kept calling the same damn play. same dead run calls against A&M, never threw on first down, showed no confidence in Cody, couldn't call plays for him, just kept calling the same lame sh#t....Big 12 Championship game coming up, you think they guy might open up the playbook for Green? doubtful.......his play calling still sucks and always will...without TM, he has no clue, with TM he is barely able to scheme anything different. I must be remembering that game wrong becuase I seem to remember some very well called pass plays to wide open recievers. as for the A&M game once agian called plays to our strength and if it weren't for two ints on poor throws we would have won. But Watson basher don't care what actually happnes on the field the basic logic is Did we score a bunch of points? No, fire the OC. IMO, the problem with the offense is deeply rooted. Penalties, fumbles, drops, etc. Those aren't problems that are associated with play calling. They are associated with hot summer days in training camp. The offensive culture is that of mistake-prone football. We've seen it each of the past 2 years with different players. It's coaching to a large extent. It's been mentioned before, but the offense, yes solely the offense, has cost this team virtually every game it's lost in the past 2 years. I haven't hear a whole lot of 'if the defense could have just held them...' on any message boards. Every team deals with injuries, and the occasional turnover or dropped ball. Not every team proclaiming to be a big time program deals with failing to put the ball in the end zone for an entire game on a regular basis. Funny, the same people who think it's reactionary to take Watson to task after a poor game are the same ones starting threads after his unit beats up on a bad defense. The offense is fool's gold. They will break your heart next week. Hope I'm wrong.
  12. Not likely. Al Davis is the only owner stupid enough to take a kicker in the 1st round, and he all ready has Janikowski (17th overall pick 2000 NFL draft)
  13. Wow. I have a tough time remembering when he doesn't drill it down the center, let alone miss. Alex Henery is not good. He also is not merely great. Alex Henery is a f'ing WITCH!
  14. Bitching doesn't necessarily equal make up calls. If that was the case, any ex wife could be a college basketball coach. There is a way to WORK officials, and then there is what Bo does.
  15. He may be the same guy he's been since he got here, but last night it just felt like he lost control. As the game is going on, and the players are all ready getting frustrated because every piece of yellow is being directed at them, he needs to be some kind of calming influence. When every other play he's either yelling at a ref or his own team, I wondered if we were going to see a Woody Hayes or Bobby Knight moment. And so did the camera guys and the spotters, because they were all over every one of his tirades.
  16. I agree with the spirit of the article. His comment about Osborne is ridiculous, and his comments about Martin are unfounded, unless he has some kind of proof concerning what Martin did.
  17. Watson's game coaching performance is not one to be evaluated on one game. It is true that there are times when a play is set up perfectly by the OC, only to have a DLineman waste it by punking the Oline, or the QB making the wrong read. However, after UT (last year and this year), OU, VaTech, and A&M, that's 5 big time games where his offense failed to get into the endzone legitimately (I don't count a 1 yd drive set up by an INT against OU). That is a deep rooted problem that goes back to how this team prepares. I'm not on the practice field, so I can't sit here and give you any succinct reason why the coaching is terrible, but I have the results, and they are not where they need to be. I've seen enough. I'm not angrily calling for his head on a platter. I just think Watson and NU need to part company at the end of the year.
  18. I don't think it's a conspiracy. I think it's a collection of things. Beebe doesn't like Nebraska, and uses his first chance to show it by suspending Eric Martin. So now Martin is a headhunter, so officials are watching #46 like a hawk on kickoffs. Voila! 2 penalties for something that no one has explained yet. The personal foul on Cotton was the official seeing only the kicking. I understand because that's all I saw at the time, and from Pelini's reaction, I would guess that's all he saw too. Bo's unsportsmanlike was well earned. The late hit on Osborne was the 'watch the targeting' sh#t in full effect. A hard hit on a QB = penalty in today's Big XII. It was a bullsh#t call that should have repercussions for the ref that called it. No one in the stadium, or at home, thought that was a penalty except for the only moron who could make it so. He should be suspended or fired for lack of performance, quite simply. If he can't be trusted to make the right call on such an obvious play at that point in the game, then he's not qualified to be an official. End of story. It was a poor officiated game, and yes, the reasons behind it may start with Beebe, but that by itself doesn't mean conspiracy. It is cause and effect, with the Big XII administration precipitating it. It's happened, in my opinion, without collusion or 'off the record' conversations. It's still inexcusable and sucks for fans of the team being screwed.
  19. If NU doesn't win the Big XII CCG, it will have more to do with the fact that the offense just isn't that good at this point in the season. Did last night's game remind anyone of last year? It did for me. I spent 3 hours hoping for lightning to strike with a big pass or something fluky, because there was no way our offense was going to sustain any kind of purposeful drive. The offensive line is being pushed around regularly and the QB play is spotty. As bad as Green is, the fact that we go absolutely NOWHERE with him in the game tells me that Watson is a problem. Someone has mentioned it before, but Shawn Watson doesn't seem to have any kind of sense for what a defense is trying to do against him. His play calls don't seem to be setting the defense up for anything or creating any kind of confusion. It's like he has 15 plays in a hat, and just pulls them out like he's playing f'ing keno or something. I'm not saying that play calling is all to blame, after all, when your linemen are getting pushed so far back that they're stepping on the quarterbacks ankle, it limits you.
  20. Good God. Go away. Are you that hard up for human interaction to come here and 'engage' in conversation. At the very least, your team was extremely fortunate to win. At worst, your team was given an out and out GIFT. Go enjoy it and find friends that share your affinity for A&M so you can suck each other off about this one.
  21. loss to the refs? really?? you guys really are into the crop circles aren't you?? it had nothing to do with the team you played?? It ABSOLUTELY had to do with the team we played. If Nebraska plays better offensively and doesn't turn the ball over, the refs would be hard pressed to swing the game, no matter what conspiracies are being entertained. A&M has a good defense, and the Huskers STILL haven't played well offensively against a good defense. A&M fans should enjoy the victory. Just stay off HuskerBoard for a while.
  22. There you could make the arguement that the feet came down almost simultaneously, thereby claiming there wasn't conclusive evidence to overturn it. Like all the other unfortunate close calls that have gone against us this year. Fine, if they came down simultaneously and one was out of bounds, the player is out...period. The foot that was IN would have to come down first, and from my vantage it did not. they came down at the same time and one was out. so he should have been ruled out...or not, i don't know Disclaimer: Officiating screwed NU. That said, I thought his left foot scraped the ground JUST prior to his right landing on the chalk. I'm not giving credit to the officials for getting the call right. I think it just worked out that way. College replay is proving to be quite useless anyway, at least in this conference. No one has any balls to overturn a call on the field. What they should say is "we're going to waste 5 minutes of everyone's time and in essence, do absolutely nothing" instead of "the previously play is under review".
  23. I will agree with Most on people on this board. NU got shafted last night. I was sitting there watching the Game And asked my cousin Who is as big of A&M fan as i am a husker fan, if he was seeing what i was? And he asked Are u talking about the continues Holding #71 for A&M is getting away with, which yes it was what i was talking about. The roughing the passer call Cmon How do u call that seriously? And the PI call where they picked up the Flag your kidding right? Go back and watch the PI call dennard got called for and tell me the reciver was not shoving dennard all over the place Or at least trying to. best of luck to all of you, But the BEST team DID NOT WIN that game Agree with everything you said save for your last sentence. This was ultimately a death match between the Blackshirts and the Wrecking Crew, and the better team DID prevail. Agree with everything, save for your entire reply.
